Remington Model 700 is a series of bolt-action rifles manufactured by Remington Arms since 1962. All are based on the same centerfire bolt action. They often come with a 3-, 4- or 5-round internal magazine depending on caliber, some of which have a floor-plate for quick-unloading, and some of which are "blind" (with no floor-plate). The rifle can also be ordered with a detachable box magazine. The Model 700 is available in many different stock, barrel and caliber configurations. It is a development of the Remington 721 and 722 series of rifles, which were introduced in 1948.
It is a manually operated bolt action with two forward dual-opposed lugs. The bolt face is recessed, fully enclosing the base of the cartridge, The extractor is a C-clip sitting within the bolt face. The ejector is a plunger on the bolt face actuated by a coil spring. The bolt is of 3-piece construction, brazed together (head, body and bolt handle). The receiver is milled from round cross-section steel.
This rifle has a "turn-bolt" or "turn-pull" design, which involves the shooter doing an upward "turn" movement of the handle to unlock the bolt from the breech and cock the firing pin, followed by a rearward "pull" to open the breech, extract the spent cartridge case, then reverse the whole process to chamber the next cartridge and relock the breech. It features "Cock On Opening", meaning the upward rotation of the bolt when the rifle is opened cocks the firing pin (there's a Cam mechanism pushing the Cocking Piece of the Firing Pin backward)

This is how you disassemble & assemble a Remington 700 → kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpO9dp-jq8Rqbck Remington 700 is obviously my favorite sniper rifle! Many legendary military sniper rifles (such as M24, M40, M2010, MK13, etc) were built from Remington 700. ^_^ Here's the Internal Ballistics (rifle specification & handload) analysis of the M40A5 rifle & M118LR ammo (in real life & in Arma3) → drive.google.com/file/d/0B-evVfZruOxIYjF1SUVUM1JtNUE/view Here's the Internal Ballistics (rifle specification & handload) analysis of the M24 SWS rifle & M118LR ammo (in real life & in Arma3) → drive.google.com/file/d/0B-evVfZruOxIX1ZCWUJua0VLNnc/view Here's the Internal Ballistics (rifle specification & handload) analysis of the Remington M2010 ESR & MK248 mod 0 ammo (in real life & in Arma3) → drive.google.com/file/d/0B-evVfZruOxIVkZPWTlua3ZIS2M/view Here's the Internal Ballistics (rifle specification & handload) analysis of the MK13 mod 0 rifle & MK248 mod 0 ammo (in real life & in Arma 3) → drive.google.com/file/d/0B-evVfZruOxISzEwSXEyLXdpVW8/view Here's the Internal Ballistics (rifle specification & handload) analysis of the MK13 mod 5 rifle & MK248 mod 0 ammo (in real life & in Arma 3) → drive.google.com/file/d/0B-evVfZruOxIaVV1X1o0dmZINmc/view Here's the Handload Internal Ballistics Calculation using the Quickload software → drive.google.com/file/d/0B-evVfZruOxIdk43bTRUb21Wa2s/view

Pro Zenitsu yeah, true, but I feel it’s for the better. autos aren’t really good for anything practical wise, maybe home defense, but then your intruder will also have one too which raises the stakes. there’d probably be a lot more shootings too if people could get their hands on an auto

Hmmm.... really considering mirror polishing all contact surfaces (trigger sear, bolt rails,feed ramp etc) on my 700 ADL, it is kinda gritty feeling... I’ve done it on .22s and noticed marked reliability, I’m just wondering if anyone has tried it on a 700 and if it’s worth it or if I’m going to be “fixing” something not broken?

@pyrofful

The ejector pin does that which is built in the side of the bolt. A little pin with a spring behind it. Once it is tripped it rotates out and takes the shell with it then just that fast goes back into it's original spot.

That rifle would be good, specially chamber in .22, if you want a beginner to let it shoot in shooting range. Because he has to pull the bolt each after shot, & not continuously shoot. So, it will not be dangerous if he keeps pull the trigger & accidentally aim someone.
