Same goes for ensembles! I'm the Executive Director of the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir, and all it took for high-level endorsements and sponsors was to ASK. These people that you look up to are real people! My unsolicited advice: make sure you have plenty of documentation of the things you've accomplished over the years - recordings, write-ups, reviews, etc. and interact with these companies with respect. Good luck, everyone!!!

I haven't heard someone use the term "speed dial" since the 2000s at least.

I know that you probably can't say an specific number because of maybe contract policies, but it would be nice to know a range of how much money do they give you , again, i know that probably every deal with every artist must be different, but any example would help to have a slightly better grasp of what implies being an endorsed artist. When you say they back you up for concerts, does that mean they pay your plane tickets? hotel? just lunch? The reeds supplied are enough that you don't have to buy any?

totally depends on the brand, the event, and the player's relationship with that brand. typically if it's an event they'll sponsor you for, you can expect a couple hundred or so. if it's a higher profile performance and you're a higher profile player, then they may cover more things like flights and hotels. the reed brands usually give you a yearly allowance, and after you use that up you can buy them at artist discount prices

Do artists get points or credit for referring students or other players to their brand? I've been surprised at the teachers we've encountered recently who've made spiels (during lessons or clinics) to my son about how he should have bought their endorser's brand instead of his Backun. It's discouraging to be paying someone for lessons, and then hear they are using that time to try to sell a product.

Good question! No, there is no “incentive program” for artists to drive more business to the brand which endorses them. At our shop, we remain completely agnostic. Choosing the right instrument is a really personal thing, and I think it’s actually a really bad idea to steer someone to a specific instrument that they don’t feel comfortable playing.

Is it possible to be endorsed by endorsed players? I‘d like a provision for every person I convince to come to one of your concerts :P
