What I like about bobs burgers is they accurately depict how regular customers are made for a small business. In the beginning they had few customers with mort and tedy being their only regulars but through the series and all the family’s adventures, all the people they meet become regular customers and are seen coming back often. The more people they meet and more adventures they have, the more customers they get

I firmly believe Bob opened the restaurant at age 24. Here is why: I believe he owned the restaurant *before* marrying Linda. In the first episode while Linda was nagging him about their anniversary she asks if he remembers their wedding night, and he says yes because they worked since they couldn't afford not to. If two people were working regular jobs, surely they could take a night off. Additionally, Hugo questions Linda saying he thought she ran off with Bob, a hot shot restaurateur. The definition of restaurateur is someone who owns or manages a restaurant, so he was presumably already running Bob's Burgers. Third, in the episode Sliding Bobs, they do scenarios in which Bob hadn't married Linda. In Tina's story, Hugo is their father, but the timeline is the same. Bob is a health inspector and remarks to Ron how he tried to rent out the building 20 years ago. It could've been just a rounded estimate, but the numbers work out that he would be exactly 24 when he started. I think it makes sense that he left his dad that Christmas, got Bob's Burgers and met Linda right after (it also means Hugo would still see him as a hot shot rather than struggling business owner, which checks out), and then they date for nine months before getting married. The fact he gave her a high five instead of a ring also lends to the fact he was a struggling business owner since he couldn't afford better. Now, with all that being said, I need a life. 😂 Really though Bob's Burgers is just the show I turn on every single night to fall asleep to haha

I was just thinking the same thing. As even in the flashbacks He missed Tina birth because he was bad with dates and totally forgot when Tina was born (Which his reaction is the best) I also sleep every night to bobs burgers so I love this show. There's no way in hell he has 18 grand in savings. He bought a ring priced at a few-hundred on an installment plan of $15 a month! I forget the exact figures, but installments plans are always a lot more expensive than buying it up front, and only used as a super-last resort. You're also overestimating the sales by A LOT - every time where Bob & Linda aren't at the restaurant during the day (ie most episodes), is a day with ZERO sales. His cost of goods is also higher than average thanks to those "specials," which are a costly passion project. In the restaurant industry, specials are dictated by stock that's about to go bad, eg if you've got a block of Muenster cheese one day from expiration, then bam, Grandpa Muenster Burger. But Bob doesn't do that, he goes to farmer's markets and pays retail price for the whatever special of the day. That's the opposite of mindful profit margins.

I would honestly say 7000+ they live by the seaside. That's prime realastate both for living and business. I used to live near the bay. My home was 1500 a month and and it was a two bedroom one bath single shithole. The Belcher's home is actually very nice when you stop and look at it. They even have a crawlspace witch is a feature you don't normally see in old rowhomes like there's. Let's not forget that they live in a convenient location. You honestly can't find homes like this anymore. It's why commuting became so popular in the turn of the century. You would be hard pressed to find a house near so many business locations. Bob is an incredibly lucky guy.

You know they actually did a study and minimum wage adjustment as actually been consistent with inflation at roughly 4%/year since 1940's. What has gone up is consumerism and the need to have the newest and greatest tech. Which is kinda garbage if you think about it since well helpful and useful, it has actually hurt human interactions.

Also well I am at it, there was a book written in the late 90's about a writer who went undercover as a waitress and had to live in hotels to survive, where she also worked as a maid just to pay rent. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it, but it was a very good book. But my point is, this is not a new issue. It is just expounded by keeping up with the Jones. This is definitely the best case scenario. My family owns a catering company and had restaurants, I worked in the industry, and I went to college for management in the culinary industry. Most likely Bob wasn't getting paid regularly if at all for working with his dad. The fact that his dad didn't have an employee until Bob left suggest that he could t afford one .Due to that it's unlikely Bob got more than an allowance. On average it takes a restaurant with savings and some form of advertisement 3 to 5 years to turn any profit. Judging by Bob and Linda they probably didn't have much savings if any which would be no advertisement. The restaurant had major set backs including an infestation. While any set back would destroy a business an infestation usually buries a food business permanently. Judging by the intro it was bad enough where the health inspector had to shut them down which means there would have been a huge sign outside telling customers not only about the infestation but what it was. This likelyade them start their cliental over again. When we go by rent, we can't go by the average rent, they are in the suburbs by the water in the north east. It's an expensive area compared to other suburbs.
@TheScaba10024 күн бұрын
Crazy theory: Bob's Burgers stays in business because it has a wealthy investor: Big Bob. Big Bob's Diner is actually a franchise, look at the business that the flagship location did on Christmas. Remember in the first episode, Bob and Linda confess that they spent their honeymoon working, so they already had the restaurant. We also know they eloped and that Big Bog was likely not present for the ceremony. After Tina's birth, business got extremely difficult. Bob and his father reconciled and Big Bob went in as an investor in Bob's restaurant. Bob is still resentful about having to rely on his father and his struggle for independence comes through in their interactions. This means that Big Bob is the reason that the restaurant survives with such few costumers and three needy children. Although we see the family have to scrimp often, this is more likely Bob not wanting to admit failure to his father and ask for more money.

Arguably still a lot due to royalties for Horsin' Around, Secretariat, and Philbert. If we need references, look at any of the adults from Full House, the show Horsin' Around is obviously a parody of. If you get the royalties someone like John Stamos makes now, you'd have a good frame. More if Bojack was made a producer in later seasons. No mater what he may do, he will always have royalties in his contracts with the studios unless they can talk him out of it.

2 other things I might add to their expenses. First of all, the cost of goods might be a little higher due to bob probably keeping quite a few extra ingredients for his innovativeness for each burger of the day, but we can see from his rather simplistic menu, most likely not all of them would be used and the stuff he doesn’t sell would probably go to feed his family rather than just expiring. Another thing is in the S1 episode where he gets taken hostage in a bank robbery, Bob says he has several loans with the bank, most likely to cover the costs of opening the restaurant and their starting equipment, and then additional loans to cover the renovations for when the restaurant was shut down. That same episode shows that he is still paying the interest, presumably on all of the loans he’s taken

Based on my experiences on NJ boardwalks, the low amount of customers at Bob's Burgers doesn't make sense, even during off seasons. Maybe some people are prevented from becoming regulars because they're turned off by the annoying kids, but boardwalks get so many diverse, new customers out of nowhere every day. And the show is often keen to point out that Bob's food is actually good, so as long as that's true, he should have plenty of customers just through word of mouth. And they serve beer, which would be fairly rare for a NJ boardwalk restaurant. He'd have more customers if he were actually located on the boardwalk itself, but plenty of restaurants closely bordering boardwalks still get lots of customers. Especially considering most people would pass or park near Bob's Burgers to get to Wonder Wharf, which is usually depicted as quite crowded, which would make sense given Fischoeder's wealth.
