It also has to prepare people for war in the case that they need to defend themselves against countries like North Korea or China. War isn’t easy. It’s not fun. But there needs to be someone to take the responsibility of protecting their people if the nation is vulnerable to that. Simply not having a military out of a desire to not have cruel training practices or not like war is naive and an easy way to lead a free nation to be taken over by malicious authoritarian opportunists. Having an active and strong military is a good way to stave off these enemies from trying anything. Even if we tried to strive for world peace, there will always be humans that seek to benefit themselves over compromising for peace. That is just human nature. As much as I don’t like the military in the country I live in and would never consider joining (US military) I appreciate all the people who have chosen to serve because without them the U.S. can’t protect progressive nations as the world police. This comes with its own problems of course (e.g. sticking their heads into foreign business like Iraq, afghanistan, etc.) but it’s a necessary reality if I want to have the freedom to say whatever I want, criticize my politicians, follow whatever religion or not follow religion, have an education system that encourages such discussion and learning, be able to earn more money and not experience child labor or a lack of social welfare programs and be accepted to live honestly as my own gender/sexuality.

It annoys me so much when people say being in the military is like a vacation for BTS. Well if the military is a vacation why doesn't everyone enlist, doesn't everyone want a vacation. The truth is the military is very physically and mentally difficult. Sure they get a break from performing and working, but lets not pretend they are at a 4 star resort

Hobi has been in the news every other week because of his achievements and his kindness. Soldiers have nothing but kind words, respect and praise for him. He got promoted early for almost everything. So proud of him 💜

Jin was a Company Commander trainee who was awarded best trainee award and a Private First Class who is promoted to special class elite warrior and Assistant Drill Instructor who got early promoted to Coropal and double promoted to Sergeant ,also a Squad Leader. In his service, he was awarded 2 x Company Commander level awards 7/8 Battalion Commander level awards. He is the only K-pop idol in history to have such honors..this is all while he was serving at front line at minus degrees cold and if you know Jin its hard for him to survive in cold. He did so well in military . Jhope and rm was early promoted as coropal as well. now jhope is a sergeant. All the BTS members are excelling in military. Tells a lot about their work ethic.

I've had family members that went into the military that were in shape and they still struggle with training. Military training requires a high level of mental endurance.

3 km for 12:30 minutes surprises me because it is actually very easy. I am a long distance runner (up to a marathon) and I am a girl at the age of 20. I have run 3 km for myself to set a good time and it was 10:27 which is okay but definitely can improve. But I understand why the time is such, because most of the men in the military are not athletes. But there is a reason why Jin actually did pretty well and it is because of all dance practices which definitely improve one's stamina

Jin was actually a commander leader out of 200 trainees during his first 5 weeks of training. There are videos on X. Also, Jin got early promoted both to corporal and to sergeant too just like Hoseok. FYI

The members are doing well in the military, working hard and serving diligently. Jin excelled as a soldier, the first to enlist and the first to discharge, he adjusted well and passed with flying colours. The experience will be a rewarding one for all of them, they will learn a lot, gain a new perspective going forward and form life long friendships as Jin did with his fellow recruits. The members are strong, capable Men who know what is expected of them. They will complete their duties successfully and with honour. The Army is proud of them. It is now only ten months left to go until service is over for the remaining members and the group will reunite once again 🫡💟
