I've played around with it a bit and got it to create some dialogues. The content definitely improved as I perfected my questions. But, very difficult to give a full enough brief for it to get it absolutely right - I guess that's where years of (human) experience comes in!

At the moment it feels like it would take a lot more effort to shape the answers than to write it yourself, but I don't doubt that will change. I think it's eventually going to mean a complete paradigm change in the same way Google has changed the need for memorising facts.

Thank for this! It gives peace of mind to know that it still can't take over our jobs. :) The good thing is though that it can help us save time googling facts.

Yes, definitely, though I'd always double check anything I wasn't sure of anyway.

I've just done a lesson on it and I showed students about it. They were horrified and thought it was just for lazy people! But I actually think it has a lot of potential - and as you said, it produces great ideas - that you already know but massively time saving. Spot on with your point about voice - and that's where it isn't there... yet... :)

It's going to change the way student work is assessed, that's for sure.

@@earnlearnthrive it might be good for generating vocabulary and collocations around a topic for ss to then use in their own work

@@annette6633 I haven’t tried that.. though as far as I can see it can’t identify level.. though maybe it recognises something other than CEFR. Pearson Teacher Toolkit is good for topic based vocabulary at a particular level BTW

I've used it a few times and think it's a great resource but won't put us out of work just yet. Congratulations on the new channel!

Yes, that's pretty much what I think. We have to look for how it can be helpful anyway, rather than worrying about this, because progress isn't going to go away, is it? We'll just adapt.

I use ChatGPT when I'm brainstorming or editing ideas. I have found it helpful in generating alternative ways to word titles for the podcast. I sometimes fall into a habit of writing things in a certain way, so in this sense, ChatGPT helps me to think more creatively.

Great point, I agree it’s great for brainstorming ideas and getting a different angle on something.

Technology does progress so rapidly 👍however, we should always be cautious about utilizing it, particularly chat GPT 😊 To be honest, I'm new to chat GPT, I mean, I've heard a lot about it but I've just known it a bit after watching your video 😀 Can chat GPT do some translation work like what google usually does for us, language learners? 🙄

Honestly, it can do pretty much anything, but how good a job it does still depends a lot on us- we have to ask it the right questions, and not assume that everything it produces is either correct or suitable for our needs. A useful tool but a bad master.

chatGPT asks for your mobile number in order to authenticate your existence! don't like that!
