Hi, I’m Dana and I have been a pediatric physical therapist for 25 years. You can read more about my practice at the top of my channel. I see kids for a lot of different disabilities including developmental delay, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, genetic disorders, dystrophies, and more. I cannot give individualized medical advice on social media and you need your doctors permission to try any exercises with your child. A therapist needs to be trained in order to perform these highly skilled exercises.
I see kids for intensives in Cary, North Carolina for 1,2, or 3 weeks for 2 visits per day. We are able to show a lot of progress with our little patients and I share that to bring hope to other parents around the world. You can find booking information at the link at the top of my channel.
The exercises I use are based on Cueves Medek Exercises. We give novel experiences to kids to work on neuroplasticity of the brain which allows us to improve gross motor skills.
This is an amazing video on how you can teach your child to use their hands more! Emily explains what she is doing during this therapy session as well as why. If this helps you please leave us a comment so we can do more of these for you.
~
Remember that kids need to get stability in their shoulders before they can start using their hands more.

The therapists are always amazing, but I just have to say that this mom is killing it! She’s so involved and clearly committed to her son’s progress.

Feels so good to see that I’m not alone on this situation 😭! My son is 19 months and he started tummytime just one month ago , he can’t sit properly and of course can’t crawl or walk. I want to thank you for such a informative video! I’m watching all your videos and hope that we will progress soon 😣🤍

Good momma. So calm and preparing him for what to expect so he's not totally frustrated. Poor little guy he wants to just give up. This must be an exhausting challenge for the parents to work on the exercises daily!

My niece just finished OT school(hands spec), sent her your channel to learn from for her future kiddo patients. Luv watching/learning from your videos since you started on YT. A fellow medic/great friend in my Army unit was from Cary, NC.

These videos are so interesting. I am an elementary school teacher and I’m curious what are the causes for these delays? Is most birth trama or post birth accidents or both? Through my years of teaching, I’ve seen students who still have a lot of reflexes they they should have out grown and this effects some of their learning development. Thanks for sharing!!! So good to see active progress.

Hi AKAP. I've been following your videos and the are exactly what I need. How much exercise time is enough for a 11months old baby, who has strong lower limbs but weak upper limbs and neck grading 4/5?

My youngest son had severe issues with crossing the midline when he was young. He is now 20 and he still does not do this very well. We did all kinds of exercises and activities when he was younger to help him but it really didn't make much of a difference.

How old is this baby? Please answer.
@Allkidsareperfect
@Allkidsareperfect 11 ай бұрын
I honestly can’t remember his exact age. But what I’m trying to show is age and diagnosis shouldn’t matter. Because if we need to work on crawling we work on crawling. If we need to work on using hands we work on using hands. Does that help?

Im not sure i understand the title on this one. Isnt the baby already using his hands very well in this video? Grabbing and holding toys and pointing and pressing on toys ect.

He will not crawl because he will not put his hands down. He did not catch himself when sitting (protective responses) because he would not put his hands down, etc

Remember, there is an order on my page if your child is struggling with gross motor skills. Go to Instagram: 1. Always start with AKAP stretch highlights (highlights are colored circles at top of Instagram page). 2. Learn about the TLR reflex in my reflex highlights. 3. Head control must come first. Watch head control highlights. 4. Lastly, watch the highlight on Instagram associated with the gross motor skills you are working on. For example: sitting.
