Isn’t the food a little on the expensive side though because it has to be shipped in from the main land? I was there with my wife in ‘22 for Vinpearl and the zoo plus a tour on the water. Anyhow our tour guide said it’s a beautiful place to live BUT even green onions were too expensive to eat so he’d not even buy them since it all had to be shipped over. My wife’s friend honeymooned the island basically two weeks after we left it and was hit with a storm basically every day. I’d stay there for a vacation but to live there permanently probably not only because all our family is on the mainland in either Saigon or up in Bao Loc; I’d want to visit them but they wouldn’t be able to come to me often because they are mostly farmers of some sort and no one would watch their crops.

@@BrunoHeggli-zp3nlgrimy Demand from Cnina. I was there in Feb 2024 for 2 weeks (not at Sunset Town). Was told by a Grab driver that the development was financed by the wealthiest man in VN. But Covid hit and the Chinese are not travelling as as pre covid so sales are, shall we say, slow. So all those streets you see in this vid --- stop the vid and and enlarge. Can you see anyone walking in the streets? Few if any. The place is eerily quiet, like an Italian ghost town. Its freakish!!! Sure there's fireworks every night at 9:30, sure it seems the locals fill the street in a parade to make it seem there is excitement. Phu Quoc has been raped by billionaires who care not about the environment. And if thats what floats one's boat, there another Disneyland like development at the northern end of the island.
@user-kt9zs5 ай бұрын
Demands? hahahahahaha. Phu Quoc reputation is finished. They are in crisis mode. Problem is Viets have no idea about sustainable tourism. They are too greedy so every tourist spot gets ruined by Viets as soon as it becomes popular. All of the country's tourist spots are ruined with trash and many other issues - Ha Long Bay, Sapa, Hoi An, etc. A total wreck. Overpriced trash bins.

Vietnam is not into sex tourism. Also, they aim this for family tourism.

I could that place being great for a month or so to escape from burning season in thailand. I live in Chiang Mai and currently in Danang before starting a week long motorbike tour starting in Hanoi. Dont think i could live in that area with it being all planned out. I like a little more edge and natural cityscape for my taste. Definitely looking to visit Phu Quoc just to see the contrast from the local areas and the planned areas.

The rate of development in some areas of Vietnam is a bit concerning. I think Da Nang will be ruined in 10 years. It's still pretty good right now though.

I would only lease short term. They do offer 90 or 30 year leases. I already forgot 😂. It was like 70K USD. In nice high rise but who’s gonna do that anyways when we can’t even get retirement visas there

That definitely needs to be addressed. I’m in Hong Kong now. Flew HK express from Bangkok. Cheaper than flying to Phu Quoc. The will need something like that to get the people there

It's not crowded because it's grossly overdeveloped and polluted. The natives have been driven from their homes by the absurd fake cities, and their raw sewage on the beach keeps the tourists away. There are rarely two-time visits to Phu Quoc. It's another Vietnamese tourist disaster; thoughtless overdevelopment and not a thought about the environment.
