Hey Jayz, DDU dev here. Nice video and thanks for showcasing DDU quite a few time already. I do have a little more information that could be helpful to you and your users. DDU can be run in normal mode and have the same effectiveness. Simply run DDU in normal mode with restart option 2 times. The result should be equivalent as a single safemode run. If you are in a hurry you can also run DDU without restarting, then LOGOFF / LOGIN and run DDU again without restarting. Usually it's as good as in safe mode but less recommended.

Not true at all, don't be ignorant. They're being sold, not sitting there. The majority of the GPU's are sold to gamers, scalpers are a large but still minority percentage compared to gamers lining up to buy when stock alerts hit. The issue is a terribly low supply. Not "scalpers". Scalpers only show up when there's incredibly low supply to exploit the market condition of extreme scarcity. If there were NO scalpers, you probably still would not have a GPU as all the other gamers would've bought it in seconds and sold out just as quick. If so many scalpers had the GPU'S like you claim, than the price per GPU would crash to retail price and there would be zero incentive to scalp since they couldn't be sold.

mine showed up yesterday. only paid $400. now i get to turn around and sell my 6900xt for between $500-$550. admittedly though I got lucky. it was an untested card from ebay being sold as "for parts" if i remember correctly. only thing wrong with it is a cracked fan (none of the blades were effected) and the cooler on the end furthest from the connections is bent a bit. all the warranty stickers are still in place. only thing i had to do was bend the mounting bracket back in place a bit.

People might forget to do that and have outdated drivers wich can result in problems, and then will get back to Jay complaining he did that (or something like that).

Nvidia started making their own founders edition card and wanted it to be more dominant. Basically Nvidia was putting its foot on the neck of its AIB partners.

1. it is a development board 2. every 5080/5090 currently crashes as soon as you change the Vcore voltage, or no longer clocks up, regardless of the software. 3. at 00:13:08 you can see that the Vcore regulator has been changed again and problems are reported again. --> 00:14:29 second BIOS with no vCore adjustments runs fine. The voltage control is “broken” in all OC tools. Too bad that exactly this cause is not mentioned in the video.

Yes I think that’s the issue, my 5090 FE started to have this same problem when I change power limit, now gpu is stuck at 650mhz and won’t boost, after reboot it only boost to 2200mhz , before was fine boosting to 2700+

Since you talked about it, I was among the few people to drive the greatest revolution in the car world ever, the Cadillac Sixteen (obviously a V16), at the Estoril Circuit and then at Brands Hatch. The car(s), I believe Cadillac built six drivable units had north of 1200Hp (they never divulged the real numbers, but one used to these "creatures" can easily be within the ballpark). The Sixteens did world tours intending to introduce a new design and rebrand a dead/dying brand, from a boring retiree car into supercar territory. This concept would give birth to one of the greatest cars ever made, the first generation CTS-V, with a Corvette ZR1 engine that could be "overclocked" by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (an option when buying the car). For eight years the CTV-S coupe and wagon, driven by me and dozens of other drivers would be fine-tuned against its biggest European rivals (BMW, AMG, Audi, and also NISMOS) until it was perfected. Both had arguably the best manual transmission ever made. I was fortunate enough to have them both, still do, and have driven for Cadillac in various "Gentleman Championship" series. The only driver cars I can think of that are at the same lever are the Lexus LFA and the original Nissan R33 Skyline GT-R Nismo 400R (in burnt yellow, of course). The Sixteen and its luxury variant prototypes can be seen in J. Leno's Collection (since you live in that neck of the woods). PS: I know nobody cares, I share anyway. Also, maybe it will give the internet R t a r d s an idea of how long and at what cost any machine demands to reach perfection, to gain that little extra undefinable that makes it Epic. It took Cadillac a decade, from concepts to testing, and then it took some accountant at Government Motors only a stroke of a pen to almost kill the legend. Lexus lost around 1 million $US on every LFA it sold, currently, Toyota is losing around $20,000 on every Yaris GR it sells. Visionaries don't count beans, much less beads and that also goes for PC parts.

@@WayStedYou Well the new Nvidia app supposedly started integrating those features but I have no interest in finding out. All of these programs are just a UI that sets parameters through Nvidia's API. I even made a batch file interface awhile back for OCing that could quickly apply presets by passing parameters thru old programs like nvoclock and nvidiaInspector. You could even adjust the power limit and do basic monitoring straight from the cmd line thru Nvidia-SMI installed with the driver.

Myb just keep x1 12vhpwr, and add x1 or x2 8pin even tho x1 would be fine, everyone has a psu with extra x2 or x3 8 pins, while having 12vhpwr connected . With my MSI 1000W for x3 8 pin gpu for example, you use this cable that goes into 12vhpwr connector in psu, but split into x2 8pins at the end, and you add x1 8pin , and thats whats recommended by MSI for x3 8pin gpus .Im not sure whats the rating for that 12vhpwr cable that they include that splits into x2 8pins, but regular 8pin is usually around 175w+, and you have an extra 50/60 from pcie on mbo . So x1 12vhpwr , x1 8pin - 600w+175w+60w ( pcie slot ) = 735w , with a possible chance of another 175w, if they were to add x2 8pins .

I'm having the same issues with my 5080 Zotac. I isolated the issue to drivers for my onboard 9800X3D video drivers. I disabled the integrated graphics and problems went away.

Safe mode has NOT been removed, you need to hold down the left SHIFT key and while holding it down click restart and it boots you in the blue screen thing where you can select what you want to do.

The software is not an issue! 50 series cards are built on shitty 50 amps drmoses. That shit may short or burn a hole in pcb. The increased power consumption and no boost could be caused by failed drmos as they are fed from 12V psu line. Core is not receiveng full power but shorted component will pull more current from powersupply. Gaming on it is not a good choice. Open it up and measure resistance on 12V shunts if it is close to short it is fried!

Hey Jay, quick input on what the possible issue could be. The erratic clock / fps behavior I'm seeing in this video is almost the same as the issue that developed in my 3080 FE that I used to have just a couple of months ago. the only thing I'm not seeing in this video is crashing to desktop while the card is under load. The issue turned out to be everyone's favorite 12 pin power connector (the 30 series FE cards had the 1st iteration). The thick connector legs had become loose and unsoldered from the pcb and the card was unable to pull its necessary power 100% of the time. Sometimes it would work under load for 1 hour, sometimes it would crash or revert to very low power consumption under load in a few minutes. A sure way to test if your 5090 has a similar issue is while the card is under full load give the power connector a very slight jiggle and you should see the wattage and fps drop immediately to way lower numbers than what the card can take. On my 3080 just touching the cable was enough to cause the instability, hence why the problem used to show itself at random times as the connector's metal legs could "settle" and "unsettle" with thermal expansion/contraction and very slight vibrations.

I usually run Firestrike windowed and chicken clock it first to find where it's likely to crash, then i'll switch to smaller clock and voltage increments to get the sweet spot. I think the first card I OC'ed didn't give a shit and took me 3 hours to slowly walk the clock up. Never again 😅

Hey Jayz, PC enthusiast here. Man, I've been dealing with a crazy nonsense problem with my rig. I've managed to get it working, but its really weird and I didnt see anyone talking about it (not in this particularly way). You see, I have an RTX 4070 Galax, AMD R7 5700X3D (cooled with a Master Liquid 240mm), 4x8GB Kingston Fury Renegade 3200mhz CL16 in a x570 ASUS TUF-Gaming Plus/BR (yes, I'm brazilian). Anyway, I had a R5 3600XT and was doing pretty fine, but bottlenecking my GPU. So, soon after I upgraded to the new 5700X3D I started to have this weird problem where randomly my PC would POST completely fine but after booting up Windows would act with na extremely high input and graphics latency. Most of the time my PC would boot just fine, I could play any game I wanted and all, but sometimes the bug would occur. I thought it was related to the new CPU (or RAM) so I started to do some testings and they where all fine. Memtest showed my RAM as ok, and CPU stressing tests were also ok, with max temps of 82ºC during tests and 74ºC while gaming). After that, I testes every other hardware such as my GPU (DDUed my drivers), PSU, HD and SSD, and everying was "fine". So since everything was "fine" I swaped my 5700X3D with a 5800X3D from a friend. And BAM, the problem was gone (or so a thought). After a while I decided to change my RGB colors and BAM, the problem hapened again, with a different CPU. So, after that I tried to isolate the problem and, obviously, it was my RGB driver (Armoury Crate, and Kingston Fury RGB Controller). But this is where it gets weird. When I reinstalled my 5700X3D, even without the driver, my PC was still glitching, but now I couldnt disable the service (I just wasnt there). So I reinstalled ASUS Armoury Crate, Kingston Fury RGB Controller and kept the OpenRGB app (since it was the only one that I havent uninstalled during the whole testing). Now I can disable the RGB controler services in services.msc, but I couldnt control my RGB after that, so I did this: I've selected the option to make Windows start these services automatic but with a delayed start. And that was it, all problems were gone. It worked, and everything were fine. No more random latency issues after booting up. But, if I unplug my PC from outlet, the bug happens again, and I need to set the service to sautomatic with delayed start again. Thats just weird, and I dont know why it just started to happen now when I changed my CPU. That would be a good thing to investigate about. Anyway, thx for your good content, as always. Bye!

Windows 11 didn't remove boot to safe mode. When pressing restart on the start menu hold shift and keep holding it while windows 11 is rebooting you will get the start options as usual. Windows 11 acts odd and instead of going to the start options like windows 10 it will reboot and then give you the start options as long as you keep shift down where you can select going into safe mode which is now called start options in windows 11. In DDU go into settings and at the bottom of the options you can clock a box to stop windows from downloading new GPU drivers.

Frequency wouldn't hurt anything and there's very strict limits in place for the rest. It's not like a CPU, they don't let you fly close enough to the sun to get burned. You just fall back to reality with a big parachute.

Just search for "Advanced Startup" in the Start menu, click "Restart Now," then select "Startup Settings," and choose option 5 for Safe Mode. As an Electronics Design Engineer of 40 years I'm conflicted on why you posted this video. Its basically a card from a pre-production validation batch. The whole point of that step is to find issues in order to fix them for production. The best thing you could have done is direct your thoughts and comments back to the Manufacturer versus making a video calling things a hot mess, which lets be real is just click bait. I usually like what you do, but this time, I dunno JayZ. That said if Zotac genuinely sent you that card for a 'review' knowing full well it could have pre-production H/W or F/W warts then thats a really dumb mistake on their part. It makes zero sense to have actual pre-production engineering models ever used for consumer reviews as they inevitably can still have some pretty significant failure potentials even at that stage. So no duh it has issues :) As a consumer I wouldn't judge Zotac or the released product based on this video. This is literally every complex product that been through a compressed design cycle at this design stage.

It is a review card using retail bios, it's just not a retail card. It's not that uncommon for reviewers, he's not beta testing for Zotac. Part of the issue is AIBs were given very little time with the bios from Nvidia prior to launch, which is partly why MSI delayed their launch. We don't really know what's happening here but if it has anything to do with Zotac it's likely the software which has always been janky but based on his description I'm doubting that's the issue.

Hold the Shift key while clicking Restart from the Shut down or sign out menu. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and go in safemode. The option is still there, I don't understand why you say it disappeared
