Interesting lecture which raises questions about events between 1969-1972.

OMG she's talking about years in space not days. These radiation doses matter over time. It's not Chernobyl.

Fine and complete Gold encasement is probably the most protected we can be. Using camera Technologies we could travel and navigate in a very protective environment and save exposure time for when we need it most. Even then we could wear Gold plated suits and have inbuilt VR technology to protect our eyes and heads from the radiation. Our interplanetary habitat would probably also be our Mars habitat and laboratory. Plating the inside of Starship would be an interesting process ....

Yeh, like they did in the '60's. Pull the other one. But camera technology, that was definitely useful.

Build a ship in space with material insulation, as then it does not need to break the gravitational pull of the Earth. This craft could be an orbit to orbit loop shift between Earth and Mars, with small, light and less insulated crafts that take people up and down to planet surfaces. Either that or somehow create a magnetic shield for a ship in the way that the Earth does for us.

The magnetic shield is a good idea but it needs to be very strong. Clearly the best solution here is to have paper thin aluminium walls and hope your golf stick doesn't puncture a hole in it.

The apollo astronaughts are all healthy and living long lives. Why not ask them how they survived radiation? Clearly this problem has already been solved! Huzzah!

Maybe because they weren't in space unprotected for years. The dose over time is what matters.

Agreed with a lot (except at 15:27 where she says mankind always wants to make the "impossible impossible", though I guess she's partially right.) Also at 15:15 where "Antarctica" is shown as a brain tumor.

Perhaps someday we will have such an ability to document and alter our genes directly that we will be able to increase our tolerance of radiation beyond a natural level, while also repairing DNA damage very easily, this radiation will be little concern. This will also impact ageing itself and maybe people will have significantly extended youthful lifespans.

The magnetic field does not stop the cosmic rays, it bends their trajectory. 😉 Matter is not the solution against ionizing radiation. Chemistry is a track but research does not give much. The magnetic field can be but what to do during outings in the field with just a combination that is only a simple garment after all? And finally, did the Apollo missions address the issue or were the astronauts sent at their own risk knowing that the radiation in the Van Allen belts was known?

if radiation is true then how can they float without any space suit, this lady was in space for 8 months and shes 50 years old, if shes alive then radiation cant be completely unbearable

"Antarctica" is shown as a brain tumor , but 18 men from apollo with only 0.1mm aluminum foil for radiation shield 8 day in space , 21 hours on moon , 2 time at van allen belt they still alived and come back with radiation test result " not exceeded from norm " 😂

Soft disclosure- revealing a controversial truth, in a way that doesnt reveal the secret. Whats the disclosure here? (It has to do with the apollo missions)
