The Amish have come down to TN and Carolina to build homes. It's amazing how fast they work!
@UnicornPurple-ut8wf2 ай бұрын
Make the steps to lofts storage cubbies. The biggest problem with tiny homes are steep steps to lofts and no other value. The best design are cubes that rods go in for hanging clothes on the tallest steps, and cubbies for items on lower steps. Make steps safe, wide not steep.
@coachwendy56182 ай бұрын
Good idea, but usually not practical. I'm a CAD designer and have laid out steps enough to know that to make them easy access takes up more valuable room and requires more space than is provided by the loft space. Not all of the sheds are being used as tiny homes. For instance it takes about a twelve foot length for the stairs to rise eight feet. It's a lot of work to build stairs. Ladders are much cheaper and easier. Most items stored in the loft would be things that could be carried easily.
@UnicornPurple-ut8wf2 ай бұрын
@ mmm…if I had to go sleep on a loft, I’d want safe steps not a ladder and it would be worth it to use two feet down the side of the cabin. But I’m a big adult. Perhaps kids fine with ladders. Plus if they act also as storage it’s not a waste. I’ve watched hundreds of tiny home videos over the years. That’s what I would want ( funny, I used to work for ibm and sold cad cam software.)

Marshall's Ambassador, Ms Stephanie pops up in someone's video yet again. She does have a channel she's maintaining, some aerophonic gardening and harvesting she's doing, something like 11 new fruit trees she's digging in, a little food preservation, household chores, kids, a husband, and a woodshed build going on in the back yard too. It was good to hear when one shed-to-house became two then 9, now 11 and soon to become 15 plus. Thank you Bri and Art and family for being a part of the Helene, Appalation housing solution. This includes any of the channel family who have watched or contributed.

I’ll 2nd THAT ♥️ Although, Bri isn’t cooking, baking or anything now. Showed no fall garden tour, or harvest, kinda sad about that - kinda same as it was back at the farm really, Art did all the videos , hardly seen Bri 🥴 Don’t get me wrong, totally love Art 🥰 and enjoy his videos but I’m not the only one who misses Bri doing her homemaking and cooking - it’s like she’s vanished from the camera again 🤷♀️

Obviously I’m not Bri but I think I saw a while back, maybe on Instagram, where she said she was handful to be entering a season where she can focus fully on her children and home and not needing to make videos to pay bills like she had to do last year. I get this as a homeschooling mama of five, similar ages to her children I think, she has two more. But mine being 14 down to 1 i know it’s already a busy day each and every day to care for our families. I think she’s probably drinking deeply of this beautiful season, as I am. I feel 18 only a few years away for my oldest and all of my other children growing so much every year that I want to be fully present and soak up this season. I can’t speak exactly for Bri, but I think I remember her saying something of the same sentiment.

@@KathyHopkins-m8k I have watched this channel from way before the twins, because of Bri. Stopped watching when Art took the more active role I just don’t find him personable. Here, he says the disaster has provided him an opportunity for content. Rather than start his own channel I guess it makes sense to keep Bri’s followers and supporters, once again an opportunity for him to step into a situation that someone else has set up and running. I am not a fan of look at my good deeds. I will miss the honesty and beauty of Bri’s channel- the happiness and celebration of her kids and gardens but I do sincerely wish the new channel the best, for her sake.

With Trump always talking about creating jobs, it would be great if he actually put a core together to help rebuild these areas. There will be work here for years to come!
@coachwendy56182 ай бұрын
It would be better done by private contractors which is what he meant by creating jobs. That makes them more permanent. By the way, most construction labor is being done by illegal immigrants at this time. I'm not sure that Trump will support the government employing illegals who already are getting more tax funding than American citizens.

That’s the hard reality when you don’t have insurance against nature disasters … 😢 Most people chose not to have them. Luckily my mom did have one on our farm when we were hit my a really bad hurricane on New Year’s Eve in 93 Our barn roof blew away , our entire garage lifted 12 ft from the ground and landed in the middle of our field 100 yards away. Except one wall that hit our house and blew the windows and half the wall out. The worst was the 40 acres of mature forest that was obliterated.. nothing could be saved . A huge loss. She had the farm repaired and rebuilt and replanted the woods and then sold the farm.. she was in her 40s , my dad had passed away when he was 37. So she worked away full time anyway. But it was hard to let a generational farm go. But the increase in a full insurance after that disaster became humongous and not viable for a farm that wasn’t in proper use !!!

Did y'all see the post from Mitchell County saying that buildings must pass code to be used for living quarters? I'm just concerned that all of this may not work the way we hoped... giving people shelter when they need it most.
@deborahlawing27282 ай бұрын
Well, who's to tell a shed from a little camp away place? I really don't think these are even meant to be lived in because there's no plumbing. And if county employees are running all around to " search out" these nefarious people who have lost everything, then they need a come to Jesus meeting. 😊
@miscnunyabiz2 ай бұрын
@deborahlawing2728 The problem is that they're saying these places need to pass inspections but there aren't enough inspectors. There are houses that have been gutted and ready to be fixed just now being condemned. I just don't see how this is going to end well. Seems like too much government wanting to much control. It seems like a vicious cycle with no good ending.

Dear Bri, your videos have never been just about you guys. Every video has added to the story of your lives that God is weaving. A wise friend said that our lives are like tapestries. Often we only see the untidy or loose threads at the back. But God knows what he's weaving on the front. Each of your videos is part of your tapestry (for both of you) and we get encouraged and inspired by seeing it come together. Through all the hard things I see threads of hope, love and care for others. You have beautiful hearts and I love the these threads of 'home' that God is weaving now. ❤

I believe they all did go over to help the Rhodes. I know for sure Art was there helping him shore up the corner of the pole barn until a more permanent solution could be found. Since then Ben Holler from Hollerhomestead with all his strapping young men and Big Daddy and the Rhodes boys helped to pour concrete pillars for the pole barn. I suspect if Bri could have been there she would have been because her and Rebecca are very close friends and I’m sure with the recent lose of Rebecca’s mom Bri would be there in any capacity she could to help. Just because we don’t see something in a 15min video doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. They don’t video their entire lives. How to take a space and make it home-that can and does look like lots of different things depending on life and our personal context. We lost our farmhouse to fire two years ago and the journey of tearing down, throwing away and salvaging parts of our lives has been so profound. Its an entirely different dynamic when your stuff is taken away instead of you choosing to release it. In that season, God helped me learn that I get to choose how I'm going to respond to that situation. I can't outgive God but I chose to embrace releasing things to others who can use them instead of agonizing over the loss. It was hard, absolutely, but God brought joy in those moments. Life is seasons- some longer, some easier than others and seasons change. I hope someone out there needed to read this and that it will help folks move forward in their hard season. Blessings on you all and your work.
