It's funny because when I started, I was trying to "look as weak as possible, but be as strong as possible" and at some point that became impossible. I think after so much strength has been gained, your body just forces growth adaptation whether you want it or not. I still cap my bodyweight at 150 lbs, that is the only way I can know for sure I'm not getting bigger. Although the interesting thing is... At 150 lbs, you still look 170+ lbs IRL once your muscle becomes dense enough through reputation. It's a tough balancing act and since it's so closely related to my current life, I found this video very enjoyable(to be fair, I enjoy pretty much all your guy's videos). I've learned a few new things from this video and may change up my training routine because of it, thanks guys!

I want them to think twice about threatening (let alone actually taking a swing at) me or my co-workers. But at the same time I need to the strength to push away a customer before the cops show up. The way of building strength is very simple! Strength is simply the ability to recruit a large amount of muscle fibers or high threshold motor units. The more you can recruit, the stronger you'll be. You can increase the amount of mass you have, but that can only get you so far and will be not effective for athletes. You can also increase the amount of muscle mass your brain allows you to use, and this is what most athletes and strength athletes do. Your brain or central nervous system only allows you to use a set amount of muscle fibers, but the more you use the max amount of muscles you can use, the more you'll be allowed to use by your brain, and the stronger you'll get. In other words, strength is a skill, and the more you high levels of force, the better you'll get at it, and the more force you'll be able to produce. In order to attain strength without size, train in low rep ranges (1-5, although i recommend 3-5 for lower chances of injury), and train with relatively low volume, between 3-6 sets per session.

Best EXAMPLE -- Magnus
@rebelpoet7587
@rebelpoet7587 8 күн бұрын
Magnus (according to his wiki) started climbing at the age of 11. He's 36 now. That's 25(!) years of climbing (sure, some years more than others, but you get the idea). 25 years of any serious sport that involves muscles or strength will simply build stupid strength (read: it's a long ass time). The 'looking skinny part' after that just becomes simple. Because Magnus doesn't look skinny at all. He looks very strong actually. But people's perception has shifted. People just have a super weird perception of what 'strong' looks like nowadays with 90% of 'fitfluencers' being on gear (yes, even your favorite one that claims natty - sorry to burst your bubble).

Body weight or proportional strength can be accomplished while looking skinny, But cross sectional muscle fiber surface area is a fantastic predictor of strength. Even though there are some other factors like tendon attachment site and neuromuscular recruitment as well.

Bobybuilding aside, it all depends on what your training for. Your sport for example will define what you need to do. Skinny strong as a lineman will not go well for you, but skinny strong in basketball, win win. My experience is consistent training will result in a bit of both, genetics aside of course. Just keep training, you will increase tendon strength, muscle strength and size will be what it is depending on your genetics and training type. Just my non medical, experience only, two cents, lol. Great videos as always.

Thanks for making it trend : D few tips, go heavy and try doing iso holds with high weights. I've always been decently strong for my weight. I look like I have almost no muscle. I'm 5'6, 111lbs. I can deadlift 250lbs for one rep, do 70+ push ups consecutively, 20 pull ups, and even crack off a few handstand push ups. I've always done casual calisthenics, and even did 7 years of gymnastics growing up. Now I only do anything remotely considered exercise once every 1-2 weeks. It usually includes everything listed above minus deadlift. That's more of a positive side effect. I really do want to gain muscle, but simply putting on weight is a challenge. Any fat I put on only lasts a month or two. It's really frustrating. My cardio is also crap.

An easy example of this "little muscle massive power" is a farmer, look at their works, I'm a farmer myself but I don't have those massive power, but if you look at the experienced farmer, you'll see them move a massive weight so freaking easy, I'm talking about 50kg, 70kg even 100kg like it was nothing, and they even do it every day from day to night. It's like their body has already adapted to that kind of work.
