I just watched your video and it seems like what’s happening is your TV is force upscaling HDR. It seems that KZbin itself is not sending the HDR signal to the television. Can you throw some light on viewport value which is 1920x1080*2. What is that? My mobile and laptop shows this value as 1920x1080 and 1080x720 respectively and this is the resolution written on their brochure. Why TV 4K TV always show 1920X1080*2.

Viewport refers to the dimensions of the playback area of the video, you can try this on laptop/pc Open your browser -----> Open KZbin ----> Play a 4K video and turn on the "Stats for nerds" ----> now try to resize the Window and you will see the change in Viewport.

it really depends , on what is that you are willing to achieve , if you like watching Movies in Dark Theater Rooms , Deep Dark Levels from OLED are perfect , if you are in a very bright lit up Living Room and you need to see every detail on your Tv panel in that bright room , Then Brighter Tv's will do that , but all in all , both are very important , as well as Color Gamut color accuracy bt2020 , but then again everyone has their preference .

I just uploaded the KZbin TV app and my understanding is they don't offer 4K resolution only 1080. When I followed your steps my Roku is set to 4K HDR but the actual KZbin TV app only shows 1080 as the max offering.

Yes it's fake 4K "4K downscaled to 1080p" in the internal KZbin app of many devices, this is happening since years ago and i do not see lot of people talking about. My thought is that the KZbin TV app is not very well optimized, and they can't run full 4K resolution in some Smart TV, TV sticks and tv boxes which have mobile processors and they opted to offer the option of 4K downscaled to 1080p, which look better than watch the video on native 1080p because there have higher bitrate and if you add to this the upscaling and filters of the modern TV's make difficult for a casual eye to catch the difference between a true 4K or 4K downscaled to 1080p.

Surprised Mr Upscaler doesn't know that one. Sadly, neither do I. However I can tell you we have 6 4K HDR tvs in the house and all say bt709. I am curious myself. I see ppl with 3 times that number. My Samsung has a bt setting that is shows around 18??, but is greyed out (also showing 709 when tested). I'll post here if I find it.

I can get PQ tru yt app and Chromecast with google tv but can't get 4k hdr my google movies neither way..... tried every possible settings. Viewport refers to the dimensions of the playback area of the video. And yes, it is perfectly fine 3840x2160 is known as 4K. You are watching 4K, just make sure you select 2160p in "Quality" settings

I guess you can open a 4K video from youtube then pause the video and select the quality. If you see 2160P that is 4K, then 1440P then 1080P(most tv have this)

This method does not work if you are viewing KZbin, or any other HDR material on a Samsung 4K HDR TV via a Windows (10) computer. If you activate HDR mode in Windows, the TV will display the HDR icon regardless of whether the content is HDR, or not. Useless.

It means your TV has a wide color gamut, good spectrum of colors , however TV'S models differentiate, some have higher count of colors spectrum, its measured in color accuracy DC-IP3, higher the color accuracy, the more natural the color on that HDR is going to be.
