How Canadian Farmers Deal With Millions Of Wild Boars Destroying The Ecosystem
Farmers in Canada have faced an invasion of feral pigs, a problem that seriously threatens their agriculture. To resolve this situation, they have taken many corrective measures. Among them, the use of fences and security systems around farming areas is one of the popular measures. Farmers have also learned about wild boar behavior and habits to create more effective coping strategies. In addition, they also participate in research projects and community collaborations to share knowledge and experience in wild boar control. Their ultimate goal is to protect their agriculture and livelihoods from the negative impacts of invasive wild boars.

Sort of, they have wild pigs that were criss bred to make them more resilient to colder climates. It's these that escaped in Canada and that are multiplying like crazy and making their way south into the US. The boar problem in the US is with a different breed which require warmer weather. Both multiply like crazy and very hard to control the population.

Wild boars are not in herds, but in sounders. The entire game of making collective nouns like "pride of lions" starts with that in the Middle Ages. Wild boars were controlled by the nobility in England. Peasant scouts were sent ahead to find groups. "Herd" was used to indicate a group of pigs under the control of a swineherd, therefore some farmer's private property. The scout would report that he had seen a "sounder" if it was the destructive wild animals.

I can't see why the sniper training could not include hunting this destructive force. Their rate of reproduction is so high that I don't see how 1 method alone can keep their numbers from exponentially exploding as in Texas Goodluck with your efforts

@@mousefarm not really! The whole video just made me wish they'd watch some youtube videos of how to trap a bunch of hogs. Shooting them from a helicopter means all the dead pigs will be scattered over a wide area. Sneaking up and shooting with a sniper rifle means you get one, but the rest of the sounder scatters in panic. If you're lucky you might get a second one before it runs out of range. Very very inefficient use of the hunter's time.

It is against the law in the province of Québec to hunt wild boars unless the provincial gov't gives a special permit to do so. Some farms raise them for speciality dishes in high-end restaurants and a local winery here in my area raises for delicious outdoor BBQ's to accompany their wine menu.. Much of this video is bad information, NOT much of this was filmed in Canada!
