Bloody marvellous. This and his other videos on the 2 stroke are 'must sees' for anyone who has problems with pesky 2-stroke engines. Watch these and you'll know what to look for when the inevitable happens and your weedwacker or chain saw wont start or bogs down when you open the throttle. He's a bit long winded and his diagrams are kinda primitive - all old school, low tech stuff - but who cares, his explanations are top notch and deliver the required eureka moment. Keep it up and don't be discouraged by the odd negative comment. You've saved me hours of wasted time and frustration. Your efforts are much appreciated!!

yes sir. I should be thanking you though. To be honest i had 2 chainsaws that were bogging down and would die when pulling the throttle, so i messed with the high and low adjustments and nothing. so i sat down and watched your hour video on 12 reasons why a 2 stroke engines boggs down, this was after i watched your video on the carburetor and how it works. After these videos i had enough confidence i could get these chainsaws running. I did a little more studying on your videos, then started inspecting and cleaning the carb and engine in the areas you explained. and i now have 2 running chainsaws 1 day later. so thank you for your knowledge! i have never been more inspired to work on small engines than after these videos. cant wait for more

It's my understanding that rather than "ready pressure" (which a conventional liquid can't actually hold on its own) the fuel comes in on one side of the diaphragm on the intake stroke and is pushed to the other on the power stroke through another flap valve over a port in the cover. The same diaphragm movement which draws the fuel in to one side, pushes it towards the needle valve and return line on the other. On the power stroke the opposite movement evacuates the reservoir in the cover, moving the fuel to the reservoir in the body. The goal being to avoid pumping fuel through the jets under crankcase pressure, but rather allow it to be drawn in under atmospheric pressure. At least that's how a see it. Regardless, each one is a brilliant little masterpiece of industrial design. Minimal parts, simple construction, inexpensive materials, adjustable, versatile, gravity-neutral and durable. An astounding mechanical accomplishment in the palm of your hand for a few pounds and pence. Beautiful! Love your videos! Keep up the good work!

How much pressure can the diaphragm produce. I'm asking because I want to fit an inline fuel primer bulb. This has a one way valve and can be bypassed with breath from my lungs so way less the 1psi. But will the diaphragm be able to easily pull the fuel through the primer bulb or will it wear out the carb quicker or even worse run lean because the fuel is not being supplied easily enough

What can cause a chainsaw to sometimes idle way too fast and at other times too slow? Since there are no moving parts involved in the jets themselves, one would expect that as long as there is fuel in the metering area, nothing could work differently, so as to explain the difference in the idle speed, right? Is it possible for instance that the metering needle valve does not close properly, so that fuel pressure in the metering area is higher than normal, forcing too much fuel through the jets, and then the saw might idle too fast?

I have a request for a video on the purge/primer check valves on a zama carburetor c1u-w43. There appears to be 2 methods for these check valves to work. One has a little red valve that is under the buld. The other has check valves that are built into the body. I have both of these. The problem is I ruined the one that has the check valves built into the body by running a wire through them. I was wondering if you could do a video showing how you could repair this if possible. Also, maybe do a video that says don't run a wire through these types of check valves. Also, it would help if it was better explained how they work. One of your videos mentioned a spring and a seat, but didn't explain where they were or how they worked. Thanks, Jim Rice

Check the tubing coming from the tank and if it is one coming from the crankshaft check it too. The ends should be tight as the pulsed gas pump is not forgiving of even quite small leaks that allow air to enter the lines.

TOUGH WALBRO Carb problem i have if anyone want to try and diagnose? for whipper snipper (wacker?)- if anyone can help as this is REALLY tricky problem with fuel starvation? pulse hole? I get full power right through the range and idle ok and plenty of fuel left on the screws so fuel pump and flow seem to be GOOD. BUT after a while 10-30 mins she starves off and a quick flick of the choke saves the engine so indicates fuel drop off OR air leaking in suddenly ? i have cleaned and checked every passage and orifice short of Xraying it and all new parts of everything on it and filters ect. If the pump or lever height was too low or too high , i already tried diff positions but it still starves off after a period? and starts ok so getting fuel when col or barely maybe? Maybe the worn compression limiting the pulse channel as it dosent have a reed valve, just the hole the piston slides past. Hot piston or vaporisation causing fuel to drop off after a while? Inlet gasket surfaces all flat and multiple new gaskets so that cant be a bad gasket or idle would be affected but not when tons of of air needed, a small leak wouldnt shut the high speed down as it is now intermittently. Last time i used it was fine then for 5 mins i couldnt get it above half power even winding open the H screw, THEN it came good and roared perfectly again?? Perhaps pulse. pump pressure is minimal with low compression and its on the edge all the time and the thing just starves suddenly . I squirted a little oil in the pulse hole plastic boss and pull the handle and the oil didnt seem to move much. I might check the rings as its bit easy to pull over unlike other that pull tighter like there tons of compression. Pulse too weak? but why roaring for 20 mins plenty of fuel available on the H screw, i could easily exceed 9000 rpm. Never had a car carb do this . it either is sick or perfect for 10 years when set . Yes these are diff operation , but this machine/carb has had this fault forever it seems, always troublesome. i even put a chinese carb on it and that wasnt right either. Maybe it is a pulse weak problem. If i connect a vac gauge to the fuel inlet, i see no movement, should it pulse left and right of 0? Just too weak engine now? or borderline? as it does go nuts then die?? weird. Never had a engine that failed like this that i worked on. Perhaps a bleed crack somewhere letting in extra air ect?
