Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/425k5rG
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/3WEuz0k
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv

This is a gold mine. "In any well-told story, both characters are right. The story is the argument between these opposing viewpoints, and the storyteller's job is to play both sides with equal integrity. The third act is about synthesis, or integration of both sides of the argument." Thank you Alan and Film Courage!

Or to look at it like the 3 sides of every story: yours, theirs and the truth and nobody is lying. And as the writer, you are searching for the truth.

Excellent. A protagonist's desire is not what changes, their relationship to that desire is what changes from scene to scene, or act to act. Very helpful tip, thank you!

Good advice. But he doesn't really get into detail about how character creates plot, or how you can try to go about doing that.

2 people raking in a room isn't a plot...but this explains many bad movies...characters are there to engage the audience in interacting with the story...and the story must spring from outside character...the 3 act structure and character Co exist as mutually dependent pathways to story, entertainment etc
