@midnight3474 жыл бұрын
@@cgmf-d6t I'm well aware what a crate engine costs. You said 3 times more that would be over 15 grand. Even with a crate and brand new control pack if you know what you're doing and dont throw money away on stuff you dont need theres no way the swap is gonna come anywhere near 15k. Now you're adding suspension costs and stuff to the "engine swap" totals? I know you need suspension too that is true with any car you add power to including ls swaps and others. What were talking about here is the cost to get a coyote engine into your new edge and get it tuned and up and running properly. You shouldn't even sniff 15k to do the swap if you have any knowledge at all about what to get and where to get it. You might get up over 10k if you start with a crate engine and pay a shop to do it for ya, sure. I just dont see it being anywhere near triple the price he quoted regardless of the route you take.

Unfortunately when kids came along, my priorities changed and I had to sell it in 09. Probably by the time I'm ready to get one, I'll be looking for a 11-14 GT. I'd have to drive a long way to get a rust and rot free 96-04 Mustang as I'm in Michigan. I'm new to your channel and I'm going to go back through your videos to watch the whole process. I have to give a shout out to Alex from LSC for injecting me with the inspiration to get back into cars again. It'll probably be at least 4-5 years before I can get a project car. At least until my kids graduate from high school. I know there's nothing like the present and people will say you shouldn't wait till tomorrow to chase your dreams but timing is also very important. I just don't have the space, budget, or the time for one right now. At least I can live vicariously through people like you and Alex.

Nice part is while new edge cars aren't featherweights, they're a good bit lighter than even the lightest mustang the coyote came in. Should turn it into a very fun daily!

How much to put it in a 05/09. That's one of my favorite yeah's. And then the 11/14.

You can still sell the 4.6 to help offset your total out of pocket cost.

The only thing that keeps me away from this swap is that the 2v sounds sooooo much better than a coyote. I may just get another new edge and swap that one and continue to daily my current one.

So, question: I have a 97 GT, so no problems there, but it's a convertible. Would those additional cross supports in the engine bay make this swap a no go?

Lincoln Ls Ahead of it's time. The Lincoln LS and last generation t-bird uses the DEW98 platform, which is shared with the Jaguar s type. Don’t get me wrong, it was an incredible platform for its time period, being developed in the mid 90’s with a perfect weight balance. But it’s NOT the same platform as the 15^ mustangs use, which is the s550 platform. Ford hasn’t used the DEW98 platform since 2006. And jaguar hasn’t used it in 6 year. Point being, that your car(which I really like and have owned), has nothing to do with a 15^ mustang(which I currently own a 2019 GT). Absolutely nothing about them interchanges and they were developed by two different generations of engineers.

*2002-2005, and even high mileage ones don’t come cheap as they’re double or triple the price of an SN-95. I just bought an 11th gen T-bird this past February and there’s a near nonexistent aftermarket community for parts. Your best bet is to stick to the Jaguar engines used in the DEW98 platform but supposedly it’s a nightmare getting the electronics to line up with the car.

The difference between you thinking you can't do it vs you being able to is the selection of tools you have at your disposal, space/garage, and time.

Can you swap a coyote in a new edge with an auto transmission?
@midnight3474 жыл бұрын
With an auto you would also need a trans to...like a 6r80 for example. You cant simply bolt it up to the original trans like you can with the manual that is what he meant. I believe they make the control pack and stuff for autos now I'm not sure.
@chetmarcotti49532 жыл бұрын
Finally, a reasonable analysis of how to do it without all the unnecessary ego related stuff. Like Joe Friday used to say “just the facts, just the facts”. Good job, stayed with the program and this actually helped me make a decision of which way to go.

@dylanmalone41604 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure he uses the stock trans he just says you might need a new clutch
@HeIsDreaMe4 жыл бұрын
Stock trans. He explains it all in the video. 96-04, GT manual with a 4.6 in it. Yoy do need a 10 bolt fly wheel, as the GT comes with an 8 bolt. This is bare bones cost, so if you can't even follow this video, odds are you're looking at 12k for parts and labor.
@TermiCobraKid4 жыл бұрын
@@HeIsDreaMe The gentleman above me misspoke, you are able to bolt up the flywheel/clutch/trans from the 5 speed GTs (8 bolt flywheel) to the 5.0 (8 bolt crank). You do not need a new flywheel if you are on a budget.

(Mildly unrelated) When you showed the roller going between Walmart and Wendy’s I couldn’t understand why that place looked so familiar. Went and watched some other vids and checked out your Instagram. I knew that was Humboldt. I live in Dyersburg so I’m familiar with the area. Crazy seeing someone from “home” being successful on KZbin. Keep it up man!
