Children learn what they want and when they want. They learn at different rates--some fast, some slower. But they eventually get there. I like the approaches of Alexander Neill (Summerhill) and John Holt. Did you ever wonder how babies learn to walk without an instruction manual, and without "compulsory" lessons? Let them learn; not force them to learn.
