How Chinly saved my day - or kept the lights on... Chinly Wireless DMX transmitter and receivers

I finally got a moment to put all the lights together in a daisy chain. Everything worked fine - till I tried to use the par cans and then - - - Blinky Blinky - NO GOOD!! Some lighting friends said it might be too many lights in the chain, maybe a bad chord, maybe interference, maybe all the above..... What to do??
Someone else suggested a DMX spliter - so I did some reading and these little wireless transmitters act just like a splitter - but also take away some of your cord needs - BONUS!!!

I appreciate your video singing drummer. loved your review and solution to your problem I was having a similar problem, as I was also using mic cables. If I can offer you a suggestion, increase your volume gain to 12 to 6 on your videos, get the info that is in your title out there as fast as possible, because thats what people are looking for, and also in this video, you duplicated your last scene twice so it's like listening to you again. Do some "QC" quality control by watching the video through once before you upload, and your channel will take off in no time.

Thank you for the input - I apologize for the duplication - between house remodeling, day job, trying to figure out DMX, writing songs for Madwagon, yadda yadda.... I must have missed that!!! I will see if I can edit that out - But I will definately work on gaining up the audio - everything is a learning curve and I really appreciate the feed back!!!

I have the opposite issue. I have a set of wedge lights similar to the rockville wedge uplights that flicker with the wireless DMX. I use Donner wireless dmx which is the same as the Chinly. If i connect hard wire to the wedge light it works just fine. If i connect the wireless DMX the light flickers all over the place. it does this with all 15 of the wedge lights i have. its an 8 channel light but i noticed that when i connect the wireless DMX it duplicates one of the channels and adds an extra channel making it 9 channels. Its super weird and cant seem to find a solution. The wireless DMX only has issues with these wedge lights. all my other fixtures have no issues.

Bummer - that is frustrating... I ended up giving up on the light show bc it was a late idea during the covid era... after covid, no one in the band was interested in doing live streams so I sold it all to a lighting buddy of mine, ironically we share the same name ;-) But that can be super frustrating. I found that too many lights in series would cause the whole system to do weird things. You might try running just 4 lights at a time on one wireless units - see if that works. I ended up using the wireless units as DMX splitters - keeping the lights down to about 4-6 on each. Anything more than that, and things started acting very strange. But I feel you pain!! Trying to trouble shoot stuff stinks!!

I know this is old new now, but I’ll see if anyone responds. Do you have two receivers on one transmitter? Those receivers are doing different things even though you’re only using the one receiver/frequency?

I have 5 receivers and one transmitter. I'm not sure how it works, but they do. I've only tried it on one universe, and I'm probably gonna sell my light system, but it's not the wireless systems fault :-)

I have ended up still having some issues, but I have not had the time to really dive into it. One issue I did find was not the Chinly's fault. I seem to have a USB port on my computer that has issues when I use the DMX dongle. As long as I don't use that USB port - the dongle seems to work and I can use the one transmitter and all five receivers I have with no issues.

Does the Cheney receivers need to be plugged in in order to work

Yep... Each one has a 120v adapter and about a 2' cord... At least in the states. :-)
