I worked for the manufacturers of this machinery for. 40 years. The machines shown were produced till around the late 1980 s and had outputs of 5000 cpm. Our plant was in south London near what is now Surrey Quays previouly Surrey Docks. From just after WW2 until earlier this century Molins Ltd London was the worlds leading supplier of machinery to the tobacco industry.

When I left the industry 20 years ago, the state-of-the-art was 11,500 cigarettes per minute with NONE of the hand loading and transfer you see here. Raw materials fed in, cases of cigarettes out.

I had a summer holiday job as a 16 Y/O student, working in the Tool Store at Molins Suanderton, Bucks. That was back in the 74. I earned £17 per week, or £21 with O/T. Had a subsidised canteen where you could have a decent 3-course for 25p and bus transport to & from the factory was included for free. I got a real education in old-school engineering from the 6 weeks I spent there. Happy Days !!

Find other ways to help with dealing with anxiety, because what makes you smoke is the anxiety. prep for the anxiety because smoking actually makes you more anxious when you first give up and it will get better. In europe.... you pay the price for a pack of sigarettes. Especially in my country the netherlands. For a pack of 50 grams Tobacco we pay almost 20 euros for this. In Germany it is much cheaper. This year tabacco is no longer for sale in the supermarkets and only affordable in gas stations and sigarshops. In 2025 they are also no longer for sale in the gas stations and only in the cigarshops here in the netherlands. I think they will ban all the cigaretts in 2030. W.E.F shit

That looks so old fashioned to me. I stopped in 2014 working for PMH and we operated machines that produced 16000 cigarettes per minute (800 packets) into shipping boxes. We did that only with 2 operators. There were about 20 highly automated productionlines. 24 ours a day, 5 days per week.

You are mistaken on what you have heard. While a lot (but not all) of cigarette manufacturers do add a few chemicals for the manufacturing process, none of them are deadly. The tobacco itself however, contains over 7000 naturally occurring chemicals. Out of those chemicals, 70 are known carcinogens.

They are warehouse employees, some of them part and full time I’m sure, and a lot of the employees probably get lunch breaks and have the option of 1 or more shorter breaks for a smoke, like other jobs…. No, the cast offs can be salvaged for the tobacco. Cigarette factory workers cannot bring in packs from outside. You can grab a pack off the rack as soon as you come in, and grab one for take-home. There is no smoking on the manufacturing floor. The entire factory is essentially a bonded warehouse. Uncle Sam gets really mad if he doesn't get all the excise tax due him. (Secret: Uncle Sam makes MORE $ from the sale of cigs than the tobacco companies do!) Every pack made in the US has excise tax payable to Uncle as soon as the case leaves the manufacturing space and goes to the warehouse - same building separated by a firewall..

Another sad but true fact about cigarette smoking. You can smoke from age 18 to 40 & completely stop at 40 & still end up with cancer or other health problems related to smoking when you in your 60s to 70's. It actually takes your body over 20 to 30 years to fully recovery from chronic smoking and its not always a guaranteed that your body will recover after stopping from years of smoking.. If you smoke, just stop. Get help if you need too. I used the Nicotine patchs to quit and they helped alot
