Wow, it's amazing to hear from someone who spent 40 years in cigarette production! It's really interesting to learn about the capabilities of older machines from the 1970s-they may not reach the speed of modern machines, but 4,000-5,000 cigarettes a minute is still impressive. It’s great that this video brought back memories for you, and thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I started smoking as a teenager in Germany. My friend and I took cigarettes from boxes of "sea rations" our families were ordered to keep. I quit cold turkey 2 years ago. I am mad at myself for not doing it earlier. I lost my oldest son and it became my crutch for PTSD and anxiety relief. Dumb, I know, but at the time you can't think straight. Believe me, Jesus picked me up and has not let me down. He knows how Mary was when she had to let him go. This helps me when the pain tries to overwhelm me. By his grace I survived a "widow maker" heart attack to be here for my youngest child. God knew he needed me too. I never smoked another after that day. I refuse to be a rude ex-smoker. Instead I pray for those that are trying to stop. Until they have their AHA moment talking down accomplishes nothing. God handles discipline, we are to love and pray for others. It is amazing how much better you feel after your heart and lungs recover?

You walked the rows and pull the 3 bottom leaves, and then sling it on your arm until you could not tote anymore then you would carry them and put them on a sled hold by a tractor. That was full it was pulled to a big shade tree where local women used to tie the leaves onto sticks then they were hung in a tobacco barn, old burner to dry out it was hard work. I’m glad I had that experience.

As a cigar smoker it is fun to watch. In cigar production they treat the plants like babies, here they treat it like trash 🙂

I’m from Australia where a pack 20 cigarettes cost around $40 a pack and expected to rise to $50 by 2026. A 2-ounce pouch of tobacco costs $149 on average. A new law is soon to be passed in Australia where a health warning must be printed on every single cigarette. I quit smoking about 40 years ago. I smoked a pack and a half every day. At today’s prices of cigarettes in Australia, it would cost me around $15 thousand dollars a year for smokes.

Cigarettes are not made in a food processing facility. Instead, they are produced in a specialized manufacturing plant where tobacco leaves are processed, blended, rolled into paper, and packaged. The process involves cutting and curing tobacco, rolling it with filters, and finally packing the cigarettes for distribution
