At one ice cream shop in New York City, owner Jason Liu says one secret for great tasting soft ice cream is making sure the equipment is always clean and sanitized. “The cleaner the machine is, the better the ice cream actually comes out,” he told Inside Edition. I worked at a froyo shop with these machines. We used to run hot water and cleaner through the machine at least 3 times every night, until the water runs clear. This was part of our main closing duty, so it really never got missed. It wasn’t that hard though, so the fact that this doesn’t get done at other places is gross

That’s actually not enough. You have to disassemble the machine and take out every rubber and clean it from the inside. I used to do that everyday and it takes me like an hour to clean. I also run water through it the next day before I put any mix in it.

My first job at 16 was at a TCBY, the frozen yogurt place. The owner and manager were super nice and they had top notch standards. At closing every single night the store was cleaned, mopped, sanitized. Plus all 4 machines were drained and broken apart and cleaned and sanitized. It actually made me proud to work there cause I knew we were doing right by everyone.

I actually had a similar experience where I had gotten a soft serve ice cream and it had tasted very different than normal and had a strong chemical taste to it so i returned it and reported it to the owners where they had refunded me with a new one it still tasted unpleasant and so I ended up tossing it. Later I had found out that the ice cream machine wasn’t properly clean and the bleach for it had mixed with the cream and caused a huge distraction away from the business due to the many other people that had the same issue there before. Cleaning is important but u must also make sure it is cleaned properly or does little to nothing.

My mom is a training manager at McDonald’s and I showed her the drip tray and she screamed saying nothing should ever look like that. Also when McDonald’s’s says their ice cream machine is broken it is not usually broken in fact it take 2 hours to clean it and they clean it usually one or twice a day so stuff like this should never happen.

I used to work in an icecream shop that my family ran, when we originally took over the old owner completely abandoned the machines without cleaning them out. We worked days to remove the spoiled icecream residue from the machine and took it apart completely, making sure to sanitize everything. At the end of every night it was a part of our routine to completely wash down the machinery. I wouldnt have eaten the icecream if I wasnt sure that the machines were properly cleaned.

I have stayed away from Dairy Queen for about 10 years until 2 days ago here in small town Ontario. Had stomach issues consistently years ago with the icecream. Left me thinking lactose intolerant. Revisted as stated recently to test my tolerance....ZERO ISSUES/PAIN. This video most likely I.D.'d the culprit back then. The blind trust we distribute at times is scary. I missed you Blizzard.
