I live in good ole Texas and during the summer, our AC went out. We went without AC up until mid July and I noticed the tension in our house was insane. Everyone was temperamental and easily agitated. It made sense, it was the heat. Then, my sister and I decided to paint her room and it got so hot we were soaked and became delusional. Later we got AC because you can't go without AC for too long in Texas, and it was insane how just a change in our home climate, changed our behavior. Lesson: Take care of the AC unit because heat will make you crazy.

My mother lived her whole life near the Gulf Coast of TX without AC. She never went crazy. I was raised in the same house with fans and attic fans for "AC". I'm not crazy. I kind of like the heat. Sweating is a natural thing and it's good for you (to a limit). My AC went out last July. It took a month to get a tech to come fix it. In the meantime I put a cheap little window unit in the bedroom and opened the windows everywhere else in the house. It felt pretty good to work outside, where it's really hot, and come into the house. Life with AC is over rated...

So if the person from the 3rd world that has a low carbon foot print moves to a 1st world country then they will increase their carbon foot print simply by migrating. If 1st world countries need to think about not having more than one child should we also think about allowing 3rd world immigrants into first world countries? If reducing carbon footprint is the goal could this help slow the rise in our carbon footprint?

Sir Hazard yes it could, there’s a lot of factors to be considered in immigration, there’s morality, there’s economics, there’s culture too. But looking at immigration strictly form an Environmental point of view, yes stopping immigration to the first world from the third world would lower carbon footprints, in developed economies people have way more disposable income to spend on non essentials that actually pollute a lot (think Flying, Driving a car specially big SUVs, having both fast fashion and meat as a daily choice and possibility) so yeah, it’s not nice to say but you’re very much right!

Right now there´s countries that face massive natural disasters linked to climate change, wiping away cities and leaving people without a home, and it has caused a lot of their residents to kill themselves. I live in Europe where heatwave killed 70 000 people last summer. Europe is not equipped for hot climate, most of us have never owned an ac before. Personally the effects I have faced have been very mild, but that doesn´t make the other countries distress any smaller.

@@jesusdominguez401 hahaha despite your name you must be from the US. Honey, climate change has always existed, genius of you to mention. We all know that. What we are facing facing is climate change due to human activity. It's proven by science, wheather you like it or not, accept it or not. The concearn about this process is that it is not a normal, geologycal time process development, natural climate change takes thousands if not tens of thousands of years. We've changed the earth'a natural temperatures and atmospheric conditions in a matter of 150 years. It's not warming process or the excesive contamination what worries us, it's the accelerated rate of these events, we have no possible way of enduring these changes and adapt in a matter of decades for what is coming and what already started, such as lack of water and food supplies for entire cities, sinking coast towns and cities like Indonesia's capital Jakarta, several simultaneous tornados and tropical storms in usual and unusual locations, historic and unprecedented heat waves all across the globe, and so on. That's happening now, not even going to mention what will happen if we pass the 1.5 degree celsius limit stated in the 2018 IPCC report. Study and read a little bit next time, before you make yourself look like such an uneducated person again. I recomend you a course about Climate Change that i took for free in edX.org with a Penn State University professor, Michael Mann. Greetings from South America.

It's a shame that people are made to worry so much by "experts" about an issue that is largely out of our control. The climate has been changing for millions of years, the only thing we can do is plan on it and make plans to deal with potential disasters. The fear mongering IS THE GREATER WORRY ITSELF and people have hijacked a natural occurrence in order to get people and children worry, and to buy things and focus on their own political agenda's no matter how detrimental it is to our lives today. The immutable reality is that the climate will change regardless of any of our efforts to reign in pollution but the more immediate threat that we do have control over is the "HOW" we prepare for climate change and the ideas around the "HOW" are causing loss of life and hurting the welfare of people around the world today. These short sighted misguided plans are far more dangerous than any natural disaster from climate change that any of us have ever experienced. Whenever you think of the "experts" just remember these are the "experts" who said the shots were safe... and now we find out their not. These are the experts who have been misinforming us throughout history, in fact, it's very hard to find ANYTHING that the "experts" were right about at all. Don't worry about what they say, just do what is reasonable to reduce pollution on your own, keep your own disaster packs ready at home, sort out your relationship with God and people and don't worry, because you've done the best you can if you do those things. Worrying and arguing with people is not going to fix anything.

It's definitely anxiety provoking when people with the loudest voices and biggest platforms; unquestionably take every single climate alarmist prediction as absolute truth. @FrancoSciaraffia
@FrancoSciaraffia 5 жыл бұрын
Can you imagine if simply having the truth being available would generate all the actions necessary to proportionally respond to the gravity of the situation? Sad part is the truth about how it is going to be increasingly harder for larges portions of the world to just live as they used to 100 or 20 years prior doesn't provoke any reaction, if at all, from governments or corporations. So the only logical counter-reaction is to spread the truth "harder". Because things need to change, before change is inevitable forced upon us. And of course, if you have enough money to surf the wave, this might not be a big deal for you. If you have heating for winter and AC for summer, if you can afford increasingly expensive food, then climate change "alarmism" might seem unnecessary to you. Bue please have some empathy for those who will struggle the hardest because of this.

With the demographic issue, not having kids is really not the solution. Not having enough people in the world means each person needs to work harder to support the ageing population, and this is just the surface. The economic issue we are facing due to the demographic issue will impact far more lives. Simply choosing to not have kids doesn't make you a saint either, its actually extremely worrying that some women are considering giving this up at the mere prospect that this issue will not be resolved. So, what you think on, you will find a way to get. A flipside to the old adage, "you go looking for trouble, you're gonna find it". Instead of focusing on problems, we need to focus on solutions. Personally, I say watch a Clive Owen film called, "Children of Men". Mother nature will take care of herself. Scientifically proven,the human race produces a higher number of male infants in times of war. Or to paraphrase Carlin, Ask thousands of people Frozen in the ashes of Pompeii if they we're worried about taking care of mother earth. Now if you wanna stand by and think it's gonna fix itself than that's up to you of course, but try not to spread this comforting but false mindset to other people that believe climate change is real, but are too lazy to do anything about it themselves.

Do you not realize that reproduction is built into our genes? Why would the decision to NOT fulfill our destiny NOT be a Mental Health Issue for women, especially. Please try to THINK and connect the dots. Some females choose not to have children, and this, too, messes with our brains. Humans are flesh and blood with feelings, not mechanical robots!

The schools are non stop teaching the problems without any direction for solutions. So what do you expect? Young children that don’t have the wherewithal to make a change is damaging them by making them hopeless. My son is in a masters program in global studies. Since 5th grade he has been learning about climate change. Now he is so depressed that he truly feels - what’s the point? How it it helpful to graduate hopeless - withdrawn depressed kids? Teach them how to help. Focus the projects on making changes - how to be leaders. All his projects are just on the problem. Now a solution is to have a psychiatric specialty?You teachers need to wake up.

@Luther Martin "companies are making a great deal of money out of this latest nonsense" I assure you, the money you refer to, is but a fraction of the money made from companies chopping down our planet's lungs (the Amazon rainforest), companies spewing endless toxins into our air, animal agriculture (methane gas), and an endless stream of others. Are some capitalizing on climate change? Without doubt - that's capitalism. But to hold them in contempt, while ignoring the exponentially larger flip side of the coin is precisely the type of nonsensical rhetoric the mango-in-chief has ushered in a few years ago. I'd say it is that, the rise of ignorance passing off as wisdom, that's a far bigger threat to our collective well being, than climate change.

Long story short: there are too many people placing unbearable burden on our precious (because we don't have spare) planet. The most fittest societies will win, so prepare yours. And mercy is all good, but before offering it, ask yourselves if you would get any, given the case of circumstances backwards. Especially in the case of short sighted societies who destroyed their livelihood for no apparent reasons other than greed and stupidity.

People have anxiety, it has been around forever. Raise your hand if you have several decades on this planet. I remember when it was child abduction, terrorism, nuclear war, Donald Trump. Whatever is in the news cycle creates anxiety in a certain group, the real issue is the news cycle. All of these have given folks similar anxiety to what is described here. This entire talk moves us away from fact based discussion into nonsense. 4 years ago I watched the debates, Democrats had a thoughtful discussion about the important topics of the day while the Republicans had a middle school food and insult fight. What has happened to the Democrats over the last 4 years? I don't even recognize the party any more. Get your proverbial $#!+ together!

Well, this hit the nail on the head in many ways. Too bad it's not just climate change affecting our mental health. I went to high school during the recession of 2008. Our cause of hopelessness was a poor economy. Would we be able to find jobs upon graduating? Could we afford college? Was the recession ever going to end? Nowadays, while yes climate change is on my mind, I also worry about raising children amongst rape culture, eventual economic collapse, and political upheaval. I worry I won't have health insurance to ensure a healthy pregnancy. In fact, I worry those unborn children won't have health insurance either. The fact, it's just not a good time to have a baby. They don't deserve to grow up with all the problems we have caused. It's not their problem to fix, it's ours.

Well I believe that taking care of our mental health is important, the focusing on these events due to the amount of information that is transmitted quickly seems to be much of what brings this issue to people, in my opinion. This video seems to contain climate alarmism, quoting facts and statistics that have been dispelled by actual climate scientists. I believe that the trauma from events that happen are real, but anxiety from impending doom is not resolved by such alarmism.

THATS what I'm saying, at least for myself. There's already been two ice-ages: climate change has always been a thing. Instead of worrying about it maybe we should work on ourselves and help others be their best and achieve their goals, and as good decisions stack and gain momentum, people will inherently choose better for the overall. But I dunno. It's just what faith and psychology both agree on. What do I know? 😏. Bless you!
