This HAS to be on someone's hard drive, somewhere. Even if Nintendo didn't offer a link to download the rebroadcast, there definitely existed tools to extract the file from the page source data, even back then. It's a bit more complicated than that - the video wasn't embedded in the webpage source. The "rebroadcast" file that you could download was just a container file that directed RealPlayer to stream the actual video from the RTSP address it contained. Think of it like a paper with an address of a house written on it, and not the actual house. To download the video file, the user would have to be savvy enough to open the container file in a text editor and manually download the file it was pointing to.

1. if you sift through the camera roll photos released, barely anyone in the crowd has cameras, it's mostly just kids in the crowd, and in the very few instances you do see cameras, they're all point and shoots, besides one of the pictures which has another guy taking a picture of a kid with mario and yoshi, in that was a DLSR, but that isn't apparent in the crowd photos. there's a photo of a nintendo employee with what seems to be a handheld video camcorder, however the picture is taken somewhere else in MGM, presumably this is after the event, maybe some video got recorded during the event from that, but i wouldn't cross fingers that it survived all the way to this day. 2. very low chance, nintendo is just about the last company to be transparent about their media with the community, they've pretty much never done any type of unearthing of behind the scenes content or previously unseen footage/etc, they are a very closed and tight lipped company in that regard generally speaking, they also probably just kind of assumed that the broadcasting company would take care of the footage for this, they likely don't have anything additional that the broadcasting company doesn't. 3. somewhat decent chance more photos may surface from some of the people with point-and-shoots, wouldn't cross fingers though.

It's always kinda funny reading the comments on vids about stuff like Slamfest, because there's always a huge chunk of people who overestimate the technology back then ("why didn't people just record their screens as it streamed?"), but an equally huge chunk of people who underestimate it, too ("what? Livestreaming didn't exist before KZbin"). SO to make this a little clear: there was livestreaming back then! It was generally handled via separate programs, not in a web browser (there may have been in-browser streaming back then, but if there was, it was in its infancy and very, very resource intensive). Basically, imagine if Twitch had its own launcher instead of being a website, but people from any domain, not just Twitch, could be watched on it so long as you had the right address for their stream. However, screen recording (especially recording a playing video/stream) took a fair amount of computer power to do, so it wasn't commonly done by average joes outside of things like making short GIFs. Videos that weren't things like animations were mostly things that were recorded on something other than a computer, and were then uploaded (or, obviously, streamed). So for the case of Slamfest, our best options are either: 1. Video from the source, be it Nintendo, Game Freak, the marketers, the recording crew, or otherwise; just SOMEONE involved that may still have a recording somewhere 2. Second hand, who got the video from the source in some way (gifts, inheritence, thrift, etc.) OR 3. People who recorded the event from the audience with their own camcorders, assuming it wasn't banned.

When I get my Time Machine up and running, this will be my second stop after going back to the UK in the sixties to record all the missing “Doctor Who” episodes.

Hear me out, but instead of a live stream recording of slamfest what if someone (like a person from the audience) recorded the event via through a video camera? As far as I'm aware the event never said you couldn't bring video cameras into the event. Plus, even if it was prohibited someone could have sneaked in a camera to secretly record the event in person, tho that's just a personal assumption.

I think I had a tape the event in my childhood home better yet I still remember the screams of the people there!

if we get a full footage of slamfest 99 one day i swear to god if there isn't any climax where one of the 4 unlockable characters comes in into the ring and beats the shit out of everyone, then ill say that the search wasn't worth it

Update I looked at the description and apparently Go! Go! Mario Paint had no book of its own, but had its thirteen chapters reprinted in other volumes, from volume 1 of Super Mario Kart to volume 1 of Donkey Kong Country. Assorted 4-koma were also included in certain volumes.
