Oh I am _devastated_ that we never got those Candy Catchers. I had the Charmander one as a kid and I treasured that thing. I can't even imagine how much I would've obsessed over the Bowser, Banjo, and Mumbo ones.

What I find cool is that someone could make fairly accurate physical recreations of the smash bros figures with how much detail is in the sheets

Man, it's crazy that we have managed to uncover all of this previously unseen stuff. Who would've guessed that there would've been a set based on the original Super Smash Bros.? Most toys always exagerate male characters to be buff as possible. Just look at old Luke Skywalker toys or Power Rangers.

You’ve got to cover Cookies Bustle! It’s actively being erased from the internet by this guy named “Ukie” due to copyright claims and it’s really sad! It’s a old 90’s cd game with a lot of charm and love put into it, even having the voices of Doraemon and many other notable Japanese VAs. I can’t find any of the cutscenes or gameplay on KZbin or ANYWHERE.. vinesauce played the game but that was taken down and he even made a video about that… PLEASE BRING THIS GAME TO LIGHT! We can’t have it lost to the void and your dedication to the topic is admirable!!

I don't know what's more amazing: the amount of research and passion that went into making this video or the fact that nobody else ever attempted to make Super Smash Bros action figures. I think Jakks Pacific could (and definitely should) revive Smash Bros. as a collector's line, since they have the Nintendo & Sega licenses. They can even have a few waves dedicated to Mii costume fighters and assist trophies. Hell, make them scale with the Jada Street Fighter and Bandai Game Dimensions Tekken figures. I swear, there's so much potential there.

The Mario's World line of toys would've been easily the greatest Nintendo toyline of all time. Imo the N64 era is the best that most of these characters ever looked. Sadly, we didn't get a real Nintendo toyline until the World Of Nintendo line, which uses the modern and imo much less charming and expressive designs.

Toy Fair just happened for the first time in 3 years this past month, I got to go as a student! The event is where a ton of companies make like 75% or more of their yearly sales to distributors. It could have been that the cancelled toys didn’t get any buyers for the product so never went through with manufacturing? Some of the companies were selling off their display items on the last day so I assume that’s how people get these random toy samples

The most I ever knew of BD&A was during the Nintendo Wii generation, so this is incredible to see their partnership with Nintendo has a longer lifespan. The bowser one's interesting to me as the mario movie bowser is almost a succesor to that! Tho instead of spraying water, he mists it. But he still breathes "water" instead of fire, and his switch is in his back (tho the resevoirs now in his head). They just seem very similar to me which is very cool! Maybe some of the other features can also return in succesor ways like bowser

When i was a kid and a huge Mario fan in the n64 and game cube era i noticed that there were no Mario related toys at all. i now know that they had Mario related toys in the 80s and very early 90s but i think they stopped making them in 1991 or something. and i think they were only in north America and japan not Europe because back then the gaming industry was very different in different countries. and here in Europe the nes was not as popular as sega mastersystem or c64. but in the middle of the 90s Nintendo got more popular here and the gaming market was almost the same as in north america .anyway i finally did see mario toys here in 2006 but by that point i was starting to reach puberty so i didn't care much anymore.

Though it’s probably a blessing that bouncy ball set never released, given what happened to the Pokémon one… Tangentially related, but seeing those Nintendo Power Supplies pages reminded me-was there EVER a 3’+ tall Yoshi plush available from the supplies catalogue, or did I dream that up?? I unfortunately can’t check my old magazines because like a fool I thew a bunch away when I was a teen. But I swear to goodness I remember a GIANT Yoshi plush (looking like the talking plush but bigger) in Nintendo Power Supplies, shown with a kid sitting next to it for scale. I’ve tried looking online a few times but never found much, which makes me wonder if it was just my Yoshi-loving kid self wishing so hard for a huge Yoshi plush that I vividly imagined the page for it existing in Nintendo Power Supplies. Does anyone remember this??
