I know people love Miller for obvious reasons, but what people forget is that the last time there was a locker room issue and Bo Horvat got traded, JT Miller was in the middle of it, too. Apparently it wasn’t Bo who was the problem. At his best, Miller is a highly effective player. But he’s far from flawless and this isn’t the first time he’s been a locker room issue.

His antics get old with team mates….. luke schen left because of him, Horvat left because of him, Petterson may leave because of him…. Great player though

I think the bigger rift is between Miller and Tocchet. Tocchet got them to practice shooting at empty nets, the next game Miller scores on an empty net. Miller is asked if it was thanks to Tocchet and he says "not at all". Then Miller gets benched and takes time off for "personal issues" but it's the whole road trip which screams to me management making him take time off. Could be wrong but gut feeling. Petey also played far better without Miller so moving miller and getting a number 2 center could work good. Petey finally true #1 and could get a more defensive 2nd line center and possibly a solid #3 defenseman, left side preferably.

To be fair horvat signed a massive contract and hasn't come anywhere near to living up to its, so Miller ironically saved the nucks by driving away horvat

About Petterson’s lack of score since year. There was a great breakdown in the cunucks sub Reddit about how he has been dealing with an injury since that time. I believe the poster said it was Knee Tendinitis, which is more common for Basketball players. They post also explained that most player can come back from it stronger than pre injury, but requires that player to take a lengthy resting period, about a year. We can see that the Cunucks have not done that with him and the results are Petterson’s skating speed and agility are greatly impacted. This has why his scoring and analytics are suffering. If the cunucks were smart they would put EP on LTIR give the kid a rest so that he would be healthy for the remainder of his contract instead of limping through the next few years and doing more long term damage. This would also cool down the locker room and you wouldn’t have to trade either JT or EP and allow them some cap flexibility to sign some help for the remainder of the year.

With regards to Ovechkin, I think more should probably be said about the possibility of PEDs. He was scuffling along until the Allstar Break last season, went to Dubai for the break, and has been putting up career-high paces ever since. And it's not like Russia doesn't have a well-documented recent history with systemic, state-funded doping.
@jacobperez109 сағат бұрын
Shut your mouth. Enjoy Ovechkin
@matsinilsson95788 сағат бұрын
1. 30% of all doping cases worldwide since the beginning of time has been Russian. Scientifically/statistically confirmed. 2. Doping is state-run in USSR, much like it was in DDR (East Germany). This is why they are sanctioned. This is different than if a sportsman dopes by himself. 3. Sometime between 2005-2015, many of the players on the Russian hockey team were implicated in doping. You can google this information. Ovechkin was on these teams. 4. Ovechkin is a likeable guy, but......NHL is quite lousy in their doping testing, just like NFL is and MBL was. They don't want a scandal. Neither does Russia. Draw your conclusions.

If fans had more access to locker room player relationships on every team in every sport, they would be stunned. No teams have players that are all on the same page. Differences of opinion exist as it does with us mere mortals. We're all human.

It's like people forget that it's still a workplace. Everyone has people they like and people they can't stand in their workplace. Yet are somehow shocked when it's the same in a pro sports locker room. It's a work place like any other in that amazing friendships can blossom but also there are people that can't stand each other. This shouldn't be shocking to anyone lol.

Boston traded Joe Thorton away, and he had many excellent regular seasons with San Jose. But how many cups have the Sharks won? Boston then signed Zdeno Chara, and won a Cup with a defence which was snarly, and hard to play against. So keep your nice-guy Pettersson, Canuck fans, and enjoy endless excellent regular seasons with him.

There is an easy solution. Miller shuts the eff up AND EP40 gets 50% of all 1st line time. You cannot drive a Ferrari like a Fiat and this is what Tocchet is doing with EP40.

I feel the NHL doesn’t promote their superstars very well. McDavid should be in an outdoor or big holiday game every year. I would’ve thought that the last Heritage game would’ve proven that.
@dex473419 сағат бұрын
Great point. They really don't do well in promoting the best players. The playoffs are the best example, when suddenly you can clutch grab, and cross check the best players. Preventing the best from actually showing their best. It's insane.
@jkp9719 сағат бұрын
McDavid does himself no favours. Phenomenal player, but his personality is boring. That’s not a shot at him; it’s a simple fact. I think Bettman is a subpar commissioner when compared to those of the other North American sports leagues, however, it isn’t his fault that the vast majority of the sport’s stars lack charisma or charm. Until 2013, MMA was considered a niche sport… then Conor McGregor came to the UFC. Love him or hate him, the guy single-handedly grew interest in the sport. The NHL does not have a Conor McGregor. And Bettman certainly is no Dana White. One of these things needs to change for the sport to truly grow in popularity on a global level: a commissioner with a better marketing vision for the sport and/or a charismatic superstar that can reel in new fans.

I keep seeing the argument thrown around that Miller didn't get along with X player, and this other X player.. Who gives a F? Pettersson is making just under a million less than McDavid and in a lot of games he just coasts around out there. It's absolutely inexcusable to become a pedestrian after being given such a huge bag! Idgaf what anyone says, if you become the highest paid player in FRANCHISE HISTORY and you make it a routine to phone in games, and I'm the GM, I'm getting rid you of you PRONTO. His NMC doesn't take effect until later on this year. If I was Allvin I'd waive him yesterday. Send him to the minors and work on getting him moved as soon as possible. I'm gonna call it now, if he gets moved to another team, he's not going to stop doing this. He'll get bought out and will be heading back to Sweden or the KHL.
