In ISLAM dead people are buried without caskets but only white textiles are used to wrap them. I think it's much better coz using casket for each dead person means alot of wasting of woods and metals.

@SteveSabbai lol ........ Yeah, what's the point in spending 8,000 bucks or more on a casket, vault and all that fancy stuff when we're all just going to rot anyways whether we're sealed or not (Think about the mummies). I mean, If you're buried, then no one is going to notice that you are 'naked' without a casket! Ha haha

Sigh...why do we waste so much money on this? I mean, all this wood could've been used for something else. It's going to rot/go to the ground anyways, so why not get something that's more easily replaced? Like paper/cardboard or hardened cornstarch?

Grave yards are good for the environment. They keep areas free of buildings and roads. Otherwise those areas that have cemetaries would be built over. It adds green to an urban areas.

@Harvey030547 How can you put a price on Worm Food? The most honorable and ecological way is to put the deceased in a rectangular hole in the ground. Beautiful flowers and natural grass will grow on the surface from the natural decay. That to me is a beautiful way.
@fishmut
@fishmut 4 жыл бұрын
Think I will build my own , I’m not going to burden my family with high prices and I wouldn’t have a clue in the end anyway what I’m in . I’ll make it environmentally friendly but nice as I can for the final hurrah. The one made in the video was nice but not worth the money charged in my opinion.

@DanielR305 It does make more sense to me to just consider cremation. The cost and profit of coffins and funeral directors is outrageous, but I feel that the use of expensive manufacturing process and materials doesn't make sense for a person who is merely becoming worm food inside that box.

My mother was cremated the same day she died. My mother's wish was that she wasn't viewed because the cancer deteriorated her in the later days. We simply had a memorial service with her ashes in an urn.

They skipped a step. Before they get laquer they go to the finishers in general. Most wood isn't perfect and has holes or cracks. Finishers melt a resin into uneven spots and touch up color where it is too light or dark. On some finishes and models you hand sand the whole lid to remove woodgrain. Each coffin can take 5 hours to 3 days to finish in that step or even longer if the quality control person isn't happy yet and sends it back.
