I used to live in College point. My father's friend had a boat at the Marina. He eventually had a boat that he was working on. After he passed away I would sneak in the Marina at night with a few friends and get smashed. I had a small dingy that I used to take out at night while smashed AF and drive around. Good times. There was this kid named Jaws. We named him Jaws because his Jaw was attached to his neck. Anyways we brought him out to the marina one night and we all got into a dingy with no motor. There were 3 of us. Me and another kid I was with hoped out of the dingy and pushed it out with Jaws still in it. We had the rope still. We told him if he tried to pull himself in we would let the rope go. A few hours later we noticed the rope wasn't fastened someone had untied it and Jaws disappeared. He literally floated away. Until this day we don't know what happened to him. We never seen him again. Not even at school. Bayside high-school.

Adventures Inn was there in the 50s. I got to go about once a year. We lived off the Causeway in Grantville. Last time I was there, I saw our house had become a parking lot. :( We were a block from Flushing Bay and when the Beatles played Shea, We were on the barge at Bright's Boat Yard and could hear a little of them.

Thank you for this video of College Point. I lived there since 1978 to 1986. I wish you had gone down to 110th st. Because that is the end of the road and I lived on 14-17 110th st. And you would have seen the NY skyline right in front of you. I saw this skyline when the towers where still up every day of my growing up there. It was a million dollar view. Used to go to the dock that was in front of our house to the left of EDO parking and sit there at sunset and write poems when I was a teenager. Best view ever!!!!! 💞 Next time go to that street you will not be disappointed!!! Margarita Londono 🙂

"If they open the back of this truck for a delivery, I am going to have to back up this block," Money says in his mellifluous voice. (We wait 2 seconds) "I have to hop out to see what's happening." (1 second later the back of the truck blocking traffic slides up--a delivery is in fact, in progress. M. starts fiddling with his door. He is going to advance to the impeding vehicle and satisfy all of our curiosity regarding the hold up. After all, we have places to be, no? Just then the rear door of the truck slides open, yes it is in the beginning stage of a delivery) "Yep. I can't wait around for this," Mooney says. (He puts the old truck into reverse.) "Alright, back we go . . ." and his wonderful old truck begins laboring backward. Thank you Mooney, it those moments of your narrative that keep me watching . . .

College Point was in the 1800s a vacation spot for city people and also quite a spot for German people here with large Hofbraus and small hotels all near the shore. There were ferries from Manhattan to College Point. I saw a couple of Hofbraus when I was a kid living there in the fifties and sixties.

Adventurer's, not Adventure Inn started in the 1950s. The aero slide you are talking about was adjacent to Golf City on 20th Ave. not the amusement park. It wasn't very large either. It was on Linden Place and the service road of the Whitestone Expressway, not where you are driving. 20th Avenue is also an entrance to College Point. The North side of College Pt. faces the East River, so it's not all Flushing Bay.

I was in college point working at a Pepsi plant there. Installed a bunch of conveyor systems there back in 2001. I remember the plant was next to the water & u could see Shea stadium from there & also a very cool view of Manhattan. Think I spent about 6 or 7 months there. I remember we had to drive from are hotel in Floral Park to the plant everyday because the company was cheap on finding hotel rooms. I will say I really enjoyed my time working in NY &getting to know some of the people there.

LaGuardia opened in 1939 and had nothing to do with the closing of Flushing Airport. Flushing Airport was a very busy GA airport up until it was closed. It was closed because of noise complaints and safety concerns. Also greed the city wanted the land to expand commercial expansion that largely never happened.

When you turned left at the park, I lived in the condominium complex next door to the park right there on the water. Directly across the river from there is LaGuardia Airport. I was a flight attendant in the late 1980s. I hated living there because I'd always lived in a rural area my entire life with no neighbors for miles. Thanks for the video. It really brought back some memories.

9:14 I hate slow drivers too. 11:00 Never knew NYC had some hilly parts, interesting. 12:10 Oh that skyline looks really nice. Probably looks even better in real life than on camera. 12:48 Why do they need to park on the corner of a street like that? Some people really can't park. 15:49 Some nice classic cars. 19:35 It surprised me people weren't even honking at the truck that was blocking the street to do a delivery. I enjoyed the video. Would really like to see you do a tour of Manhattan one day. Keep up the good work!

@@MOONEYDashCam You're welcome bro, I appreciate good dash cam videos. Most of the other dash cam channels are mainly focused on accident videos but sometimes I just want to watch something different. That's why I'm glad I found your channel. I also like to support small channels and it makes me happy to see them grow. I know what a stuggle it can be to reach people on KZbin these days, with the algorhytm making it really hard to stand out. I got to about 700 in approx. 8 months but I really tried hard by going to other peoples livestreams and getting to know other peoples channels and an entire livestreaming community on KZbin. I do make my own livestreams by the way, if you're interested. Btw not trying to promote myself on here, please don't take it like that. Anyways, I really enjoy these videos. I hope to see many more of them.
