My family used to live in Edgewater back when I was very young like 1-2 years old. I kind of wish we had stayed because as you would expect it's a very close little neighborhood. You get to know everyone and for the most part make a lot of good friends there. It's almost like your own little club that the rest of the Bronx is not allowed to be a part of lol. We have pictures from the Fourth of July and it was the best. Had a parade and fireworks at night and everything. No idea how it is now but it reminded me of small towns in Long Island in the late 60's and the 70's.

My grandmother used to live there. We would visit her when I was a little girl. We lived in Mt. Vernon at the time. That was back in the 60's and 70's. She passed away in 1980. I moved to California not long after that, haven't been back since. I have a lot of memories there, I loved it there. I know I'm old now but I think the houses were all one story bungalows if I remember correctly.

Great video! My aunt lives in Edgewater, you actually drove right by her house in the video. Its such a cool little tucked away neighborhood in NYC. The coolest part is the winding alleyways that run behind the house and connect the streets. When I was a kid I would get lost in them. Its like a maze.

To MR RING your comment about that SNOW in EDGEWATER PARK was correct as the CITY SNOW PLOWS would have a hard time passing tru narrow (beautiful clean AMERICAN FLAG waving streets which usually means a SAFE STABILE AREA which it IS) streets but if you are a guy who is RETIRED as I am it is a GREAT PLACE TO LIVE IN!!!! A little exercize to shovell/sweep up/spruce up one of those former SUMMER BUNGALOWS would keep a guy busy (if retired and won,t have to wait for one of those EVERY HALF HOUR BUSES as if missing one if he,s 5 minutes earlier OH DARNNIT!!!)THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT MR RING!!!!

A different side of the Bronx many folks are not aware of. Especially Brooklyn folks like myself. I don’t live in the NYC anymore and haven’t for almost 20 years now,but before I left,I made it my point to get to know all 5 boroughs as well as I could. I knew that there was more to NYC than just manhattan,queens,or my Brooklyn neighborhood of BUSHWICK!!!

I hear you, I grew up in Queens, moved away back in 1999 and haven't been back yet, but having been away for so long I realize I missed so much of this great city, and that there really is no other city like it in the world. I'm definitely trying to get there next spring or summer

Moony, you were lucky the guard wasn’t in the booth because no way he would let you in. Also they do have street names and house numbers now. Before they added those a few years ago it was almost impossible to find a particular house and in Edgewater. Some of these houses are notable n the streets they can only be accessed via alleyways on foot. To see a really small neighborhood with no streets at all go to Pennyfield Camp just outside of edge water at the end of Miles Ave at the water

This "Hood", is so unusual and incredible. The streets don't seem to have any recognizable pattern at all. Some villages in Japan are just like this, very narrow crooked streets. The 1 difference is their vehicles are all very small.

I thought the same thing when I was in Japan. Their narrow non-major streets are like Edgewater streets, and their addressing system is similar to Edgewater’s (using sections instead of street names) as well.

It's a nice quiet area. With its own private beaches make Edgewater Park Owners/Coop a great place in the Bronx to live. A place where day or night you never hear the city sounds, with the exception of the highway breathing. 🙄and people talking to themselves in cars
@josephconsoli41282 жыл бұрын
I got down to your first vid Brandon! I have to go back to a few that I missed though. What an interesting place. It's cool to think those small old bungalows were likely summer cottages that people bought really cheap in the 1920's-'30's. Unfortunately, living close to the waters edge today is very risky. I'm really surprised with the restrictions in buying a place in this politically correct age. What that ensures is certain types of people can't get in.
