As an aside though, has everyone forgotten the Stephanie Mills cover of this song? Ms. Mills might've been the first person to ever cover a Prince song. He rarely permitted covers. Sinead O'connor pissed him off with an unauthorized cover a song I can't remember. Joan Baez "One of Us" cover was memorable. TLC cover of Waterfalls?

me too. I really liked to hear the "black" in her voice and in the way her music was written. I honestly stopped listening once she became mainstream and made songs that the masses would like.
