Amazing process! I would like to see how you do the actual harvest in the field. Are you using escapes, fume boards, etc?

Yes, fume board, pull the box off, repeat. Might catch it in a later vlog. I usually try to stay as far away from bee go as possible 😂😂

Thanks for sharing your operation Jake. You showed that yard from last season in Beaumont, so I’m thinking you’re dealing in some tallow. What are you guys seeing with the tallow this year? We saw the late freeze knocked ours out for now. Just getting foliage back when we should be seeing shoots about to bloom.

Absolutely tallow country here. Winter was mild in our area so trees are doing good. About 20% of the trees are earlier than the majority for some reason, but we’ve had some cool fronts come through so it’s been a slow start. Tags are looking good though. Just need warm weather to get them really going.

Excellent video! Just a quick question, what do you do with the frames that have more uncapped honey (nectar) than capped honey? If you still extract it, does it affect the overall water content of the other capped honey?

We let it sit in our warehouse where we run heat and air at the same time to dry the entire room. This usually gets it where it needs to be. Everything goes through the extractor. Only a few years past we’ve actually had to use a dryer

Can u elaborate on your filtration part of the process? We own a mini Lyson extraction line. Our bottleneck is when the honey is pumped out of a sump through a 800 and 400 micron strainer into a big tank. The strainers often backup and eventually need to be changed out. Thanks.

We do not filter at all. We have a very nice cook and beals honey wax separator.

@@beefarmerjake which model do u have? So, this will achieve the same results as if utilizing a strainer? What temps does the honey need to be in order the the separator to work well? Can u do it by just keeping the room temps in the 80s?

Honey crystallizes naturally. Really nothing you can do to stop it besides apply heat or use it fast.

Do yall pump your honey from extractor/uncapper tank directly into your wax separator or does it go through heat exchanger
