Americans look to the country’s most powerful bank, the Federal Reserve, to combat inflation. But the Federal Reserve does not have to take on the battle alone. Fiscal policy enacted by Congress and power wielded by big business can help fight rising costs. Watch the video above to learn more about how corporations and Congress influence inflation, why the Fed doesn’t have to take on rising costs alone and what it will take to normalize the U.S. economy.

Increased losses for portfolios this quarter are predicted by market drops, skyrocketing inflation, a major interest rate hike by the Fed, and rising treasury rates. How can I profit from the volatile market right now? I'm still considering whether to sell my $$$k bond and stock account.

Concentrate on two main goals. To start protecting yourself, learn when to sell stocks to reduce losses and maximize gains. Second, get ready to profit when the market recovers. I suggest having a conversation with a broker or financial advisor.

Yes, I've been in touch with a financial analyst ever since I covid. Investing in trending companies is relatively easy today; the trick is determining when to purchase and sell. There is another type of inflation that is not mentioned in this video or most economics textbooks. In the 1800's and early 1900's of the industrialization age, people left farms and moved to cities to work in factories. Businesses at that time believed the way to be successful was to produce a quality product that was reliable and would last for a long time. If consumers had a good experience with their product, they would tell others, and the business would grow in reputation and size, with more and more satisfied customers. Today, best-practices seminars teach business executives the way to success is to patent your product, require authorized repairs by factory-trained and certified technicians to maintain the warranty, require the use of specialized tools, control the source and prices on OEM parts, place critical parts and mechanisms in inaccessible sealed compartments, and build the product with parts and materials designed to fail within days of warranty expiration, if not sooner. For businesses, this results in increased product and maintenance sales at higher margins, ultimately requiring the consumer to repair/replace/repurchase new units at more frequent intervals. If the consumer had to replace every product they buy every year, they would be left with no discretionary income, no savings, and little control over improving their lives, while businesses grow more powerful, compound more and more money, and justify their actions in the name of increased profits.
@jamisonmunn9215
@jamisonmunn9215 Жыл бұрын
You are forgetting the same thing all these businesses forgot. In reality the consumer, when the product breaks they throw it away, or if its really expensive they get it fixed and then sell it on to the next unsuspecting consumer. The original consumer will never buy from that business again.

Except of course for nearly all United States allies, where they seem to have found a balance of both capitalism and socialism, which allows them to enjoy the benefits of both economic systems. The hard line that you draw between the U.S. economy and all other economies of the world is the way conservative Americans indoctrinate citizens into thinking that all other countries are our enemies, worthy of eradication, destruction, elimination, and total depopulation. Most Americans believe all forms of socialism lead to Stalinism, and that free markets lead to the highest quality of life for all participants. Do you believe the profit motive always leads us in the correct direction? Do you believe that wealthy industrialists or financial gurus always provide the best guidance for the economy? I think it may be too early to jump to such diametric conclusions, given the fragile state of our climate and resources. Note, I am talking about potential benefits of combined capitalism and socialism. The free market also brings us unpredictable episodes of hyperinflation, unemployment, painful adjustments, and slow response times to changes that could be better handled by more aggressive decision making. Bear in mind that socialist governments try to keep free market entrants and demand forces in their economies invisible and to keep central decision-making top-most visible, while capitalist governments try to keep their heavy hand on tax policies, financial incentives, and direct investment in industries invisible in an attempt to attribute all progress to visible free market forces. Many of America's proudest achievements would not have happened without direct government investment, e.g., the National Highway system, the WPA, Social Security, Medicare, NASA, SpaceX, the defense industry, the oil industry, some pharmaceuticals, etc. Again, many Americans are unaware of the hard fought differences of opinions among socialists themselves.

"I love how the only option we have is to keep getting on our knees for corporations." That's....not the only option at all. Sounds like a straw man. The REAL option for curing inflation is not to create it to begin with. Not expanding the money supply by 35% would be a start. Notice how all these things people are complaining about are all more expensive in DOLLARS, but not in bitcoin or gold. Inflation isn't caused by greedy businesses. It's caused by a reduction in the value of our money by the Fed.

This inflation is MOSTLY price gouging from corporations. You CANT have RECORD BREAKING PROFITS during high inflation. PRICE GOUGING! There are some people, that say inflation is the cause of helping Americans during the pandemic. The pandemic is a world wide event, and most countries are suffering from it. It's a supply chain issue. The world was on lock down, everything came to a stop. Supply chain issues. Also, go look up how much corporations recieved in tax breaks, and money that was given to corporations to keep Americans employed. Companies used that money for share buy backs instead. Corporations recieved more money than what Americans recieved in help. Corporations continue to recieve government money. It's corporate welfare. No one talks about that.

Companies posting record profits in the midst of super high inflation is tone deaf - like when oil companies posted their highest profits right when gas prices hit their highest point. Perhaps it was just really bad timing. In order to tame inflation, you need to first identify why it is happening, otherwise, you're just guessing and hoping for the best - which might actually have the opposite impact. Hoover's response to the 1929 market crash just made everything worse. He had good intentions, but nothing he did worked.

I just don't get how people can be so narrow minded to still blindly repeat the wage-price spiral. People don't suddenly buy 5% more goods to create an inflation of 7%. It is the prices that increases first. Wage increase is a natural result to not devalue private income an wealth. How much of company's expenses are salary? Depends of course on the company but let's look at a very labor intense business, which would be 70%. So a salary increase of 5% would affect the total expenses by 3,5%, With the next cycle and a salary increase of 3,5% the expenses increase by 1,44%. So where is this wage-price spiral? @justinwalworth9008

Tax companies! Fight corporate greed! Sounds great, right? Don’t use profits for dividends or share buybacks. If you have a 401k or any investment account, you’re a shareholder. If you have an insurance policy, you’re an indirect shareholder. Insurance companies invest their/your money to pay claims and lower premiums. Your bank invests money. Your company might be a public company that gets working capital by selling shares. Your company probably does business with tens or hundreds of other public companies. Shareholders aren’t just rich people. They’re all of us. I absolutely want companies to make record profits and I don’t want the government to fight them on that. For you, me, and everyone. The stock market allows us (anyone) to buy a little piece of a great company and share in the profits. The govt does basically the same with treasury bills. So when you hear the term shareholders, that’s basically all of us.

Central government planning has done more harm to a CAPITALISTIC system than anything else. Profits are for businesses to use how they see fit. If they waste profits, then the MARKET will punish them. Don’t need more taxes. This is nonsense.

Consumers would prefer lower costs of goods than lower borrowing costs. No more borrowing into the future. You have to work and earn to get paid. The fed is not doing enough to fight inflation. The fed didn’t hesitate to print trillions of dollars and lower rates to zero almost instantly but not the other way around. The federal reserve will continue to underestimate inflation again and again. Reckless Fiscal spending is not helping either. Government always spends more than it earns. That’s the problem when they are spending money that’s not their own. It’s the peoples money, the US debt, future generations of Americans debt which they spend on it now.

The problem with inflation is you lose lots more money paying for day to day things. It obviously hits the lower and middle class the most, who will reduce spending, and then the economy will slow down. It's obviously not a money supply issue. It's a general economic issue, the days of cheap things are gone. There's scarcity on the planet, war, etc. I am European and saw something as simple as the price of clothing and bread increase. I think it's obviously due to supply issues. It costs more for the companies to make their products. So they don't hesitate to increase their prices. It's understandable. But the question is are we going to a real economic crisis? There are lots of poor people, it's going to be very tough. As much as I like Ukraine, I would hope there is a normalisation with Russia, so we can start buying their cheap gas again, and re-establish normal trade. A normalisation of the situation in Europe would bring inflation to more normal levels. The simple fact is that for the common European people, we can't afford war.

The real solution is forced low paid labour. We're very stupid creatures since we only value people based on months of accomplishments. If people are locked by covid for a year that labour force is considered consumed by the employers. To create labour a real crisis has to occur where a mega corporation is disclosed. They don't do it since it's not in their interest to help the country by ending companies. The shortage of services is forcing people back to work. For that reason what companies can do to help the economy is firing people in a very rapid event to ensure that they're as well able to employ them in a short amount of time. The shortages of services means that companies are needed and there's a demand. Right now there's no demand of anything that people are living on the streets as the society does not want anything and has no reason to obtain it.
