Well, it's devoid of moves that are effective against steel types exept for brick break, rock smash and bulldoze. If it just had a better fighting type move it wouldn't be walled against steel types. Imho should have superpower. Seems thematically accurate lol. But still that wouldn't be so great against corviknight because that's only neutral. And you pretty much need super effective damage to break corv.

Corvioknight was a solid pokemon last gen too- I ran an Iron defense/Body Press build on that bad boy, and that's a tanky pokemon that can just kill you dead if you don't answer it. Corvioknight is the new model of everything Skarmory was back in the Gen 3 days of Skarmory and Blissey being the great Wall duo.

Corviknight is very very good with Iron Defense + Body Press + Tera Fighting. I think i might test out Bulk Up to better work with Power Trip, since It’s needed to deal with those pesky Ghost types, but an Offensive/Tank Corviknight is absolutely amazing.

tinkaton is not scratching corv, not with an attack stat lower than bonsly. the reason corviknights are not taxis in paldea is because the tinkatons miss and hit the passenger compartments

First-time viewer here. I think this video is really flawed, and I have multiple criticisms of it: * Nobody runs corviknight for gholdengo. In fact, that mon's existence has made corviknight far worse, and Gholdengo is actually being run FOR Corviknight. If the opponent has that mon then you're never getting hazards off. The only thing corv can do against it is u-turn out into a pokemon that actually beats it. * Corviknight also doesn't reliably beat Annihilape. A single pre-stack of rage fist, and it loses to Bulk Up on the switch. If it's not running Brave Bird which is often the case or Annihilape just teras, then it's never beating it. You also give it free stacks when you u-turn on it. * Speaking of U-turn, it's the actual main reason to run Corviknight and the main thing it had over Skarmory in past gen, and it deserves more than mentioning it alongside super niche options. Spamming U-Turn and bringing in threats such as Chi-Yu or Chien-Pao is what Corviknight does most of the time. Overall, I think this video presents an inaccurate judgment on what makes Corviknight still usable in the current meta.

I disagree with gholdengo being walled by corv, more often than not it's actually the other way around. Choiced sets threaten corv with thunderbolt and trick while sub nasty plot sets use corv as set up fodder. Even bulky gholdengos (rare but still used) with twave best corv. Corv only counters then when they go for Choiced locked make it rains. If they predict you and go for tbolt or trick your corv is ruined. Also good as gold stops corv from defoging

I love Corviknight but I think Gholdengo is the one that counters it. I only use Corv to Defog Hazards and Gholdengo completely counters that. On top of that, Gholdengo also threatens Corv with trick and thunderbolt. Its not a good switch in, you also loose tempo if Ghold Swiches in on you. On the topic of Glimmora, the early meta game for that mon was being able to counter the opponents Glimmora with Tera Flying, and using earth power. Corv still counters Glimmora until Pilots start using Tera-Blast Fire to One Shot them. It scares me.

I feel that Brutal Swing should become a Rapid Spin/Mortal Spin reskin with a guaranteed chance to drop the opponents Attack. At that point, a fairly useless move with minimal distribution could actually be a good way to get rid of Hazards in a meta like this, where Gholdengo prevents all Hazard removal period

Corviknight is NOT a check to ghouldango at all. Corv’s two main attacking moves body press and brave bird don’t do jack, shadow ball does like 35 still to sp.def, and it blocks its defog one of its main tasks on a team. It’s really more the other way around

Honestly I agree with the video’s premise but the reasons provided are almost all wrong. First, if anything Gholdengo is a counter to Corv as it blocks defog, does good damage with shadow ball, and completely walls Corv back. Secondly, if Chien Pao is banded or teras Corv just gets two shot and therefore can’t switch in. Last, Glimmora is an iffy match up because while iron defense Corv can set up on it, Glimmora sets up hazards in front of it and then defog is blocked by the aforementioned Gholdengo. Glimmora can also take advantage of Corv’s uturn by switching into it to set up tspikes. However, Corv was put as A tier in the first OU viability rankings and for good reason. For me, the relevant examples that substantiate its usefulness are 1) walling Dragonite and either uturning to break multiscale or beating it 1v1 with iron defense or raw body press if they tera normal 2) reliably switching in to Ting Lu and using it for free momentum or hazard control if no Gholdengo 3) having a good match up against Great Tusk/Kingambit/Roaring Moon and decent match ups against Garchomp/Dragapult if running brave bird

I kinda disagree, there have been multiple battles where corviknight is useless on my team gholdengo can 2 shot me with thunderwave hex. And trick scarf is super common and Terra dark chien pao can easily 2 shot me or 3 shot me fully defensive, and taunt inihilape is super common, and because of this corviknight 5 times out of 10 does nothing in my team because corviknight will die.

i disagree with points made in this video. personally i dont think the point that corviknight can defog in front of glimmora is a good reason, since its almost always paired with gholdengo. also i thought itd be worth mentioning that band chien-pao/tera tusk or tera tusk in sun breaks corvi, however they aren’t the most popular sets. annihilape carries bulk up and sometimes taunt, which sits on corviknight. gholdengo loves uses trick scarf, which cripples corvi. overall i believe corvi is worse this gen as opposed to last gen

HA Corviknight is also a good counter to Flutter Mane. Its bulk allows it to withstand Mystical Fire while Mirror Armor lowers Flutter Mane’s Special Attack, allowing you to take it out with Steel Wing

corv to me is one of the most broken mons ever made. i wanted it banned with pex and clef. its a no skill stall mon that does nothing but click roost. it was top 10 in gen 8 and its top 10 in gen 9 even with nerf to recovery moves. stall is the most broken thing pokemon will ever see
