How Cost Efficient Are Titans vs Other Tier 7+ Units in HoMM3 HotA

Let's test how Titans fare against other tier 7+ units. Units are divided in 2 stacks. Player control, no ganging, abilities are allowed. In the first part 100 weeks of growth, in the second part, army value of 1.000.000 gold pieces.

It's funny how Haspids absolutely manhandle them in an equal numbers fight, but then also are more cost efficient. Like stop, stop, they're already dead! But oh well. They do hold up quite well if you've got the money, I suppose. Almost better than expected considering the fact they're ranged.

Titans are very good, they can fight in melee but if possible need some protection to overcome anything basic

I totally didn't expect that vs Hydras :) poor Hydras, they have not enough dmg to face single stacks of enemies ^^

That fight with the black dragons was close (100 weeks growth at least)! Is it possible that the titans could win if they just defended and purely attacked by retaliations?

I don't think so, the attacking dragon stack will be always bigger before retaliation... but maybe it's worth tryin' :)

If I remember correctly defense works only till the end of round so since black dragons move first - they will strike the undefended titans and then if titans defend - it will immediately end with the current round

@@AleksandrYgA I think defense works till next turn of the defending unit. Otherwise we wouldn't ever see towers shooting to defending units, and you know that exactly they were in defense stance, because there's different animation when taking hits :)

@@KutaphoneX, yeah, you're right. It's interesting to try how defending would affect the result although it's still can't be a tactic since if it gives advantage - black dragons can do the same :)

Had no idea that titans are so inefficient. Truth is they are expensive as fck. Still imagine playing Barren lands with 1k titans in two stacks, 1k power stack of goldragons, some archangels, cyclopes, genies and crimson couatles - The titans are Just the best ❤

Thanks for the comment. Agreed on that. At the same time, imo the missile units overall struggle a bit in this type of tests as they don't have other units as meat shields :)

Flawed test, you had 2 groups of units, you should have done top group start with left player first, and bottom group start with right player first. Or done 2x the tests, with left side starting first.

I think they need rebalance some creatures. Hydras for example are too weak, they shoud have 300HP, they are giant beasts.

HOMM balance comes in other things. Despite Hydras being one the most weak t7 units, Fortress have one of the best t6 units (Wyverns). Also terrible swamp lands where only Fotress heroes can go at relative speed. And good heroes they can use as their mains. Oh and freaking gorgons who wreck any big strong healthy guy. So most of the times you dont even want to build up Hydras, as for t7 you always can build it in other castle to get something better. Thus the only REALLY unbalanced thing in all game usually related to unit generation ability (diplomacy, necromansy, vampire lords)

Thanks for the comment. Yea, compared to other tier 7 units, they seem rather weak. On the other hand, they don't get to use their strengths in type of tests :)

@@atashivasher9805 Thanks for the comment. Valid points. It seems that Fortress gets Mighty Gorgons to fight T7 whereas the Hydras should focus on masses of weaker units (hopefully multiple at once). I have to disagree about the Wyvers. The speed is great but the are rather glass-cannonish :)

What about wyverns i understand that not many people play random generated maps but what makes them strong is how easy you can snowball em through hive objectives and how they are all-purpuse against anything on the map. Altough good videos, thnx for the job

@@atashivasher9805 I think all fortress is standing out from other castles, slow creatures, 2 flyers are fast, but glass canon, hydras are slow, low damage and low HP, very close to not useble.
