HOW COULD ANYONE REALLY CHOOSE CHARLOTTE OVER RALEIGH NC?

I have a hard time understanding how people could choose to move to Charlotte NC over Raleigh NC. Raleigh wins in just about every category when comparing Charlotte vs Raleigh, so why wouldn’t everyone just choose to live in Raleigh?

Charlotte is more of an actual city, Raleigh more of a big town. Raleigh more for families and Charlotte more for younger people but Charlotte has some suburbs great for families.

I live in Fayetteville and I have been to Raleigh and Charlotte numerous times and I have always loved the vibe of Raleigh over Charlotte and that could be because I know I’m not a city person and me Raleigh is just big enough to where we have city amenities, but it’s still a great place to raise a family.... honestly I could drive through Apex Holly Springs Fuquay Varina, Cary all day and just love how it feels up there one day I would love to move up there, even though I admit I’m kind of nervous too because I hear people ain’t Cary are really snobby so maybe an Apex or Holly Springs where I still have small town living but a city is not far away but I love Raleigh and suburbs

I would say Charlotte is more of a cosmopolitan city and has more to do than Raleigh. Raleigh is much more smaller and slower than Charlotte. Raleigh seems super crowded and lacks infrastructure of a large city such as Charlotte. Charlotte is more organized than Raleigh. The people in Charlotte are more welcoming than in Raleigh. Raleigh has a long way to go. Raleigh is safer than Charlotte. DTR needs a lot of work where UTC is more of an organized. The culinary seen in Charlotte is unmatched compared to Raleigh. Raleigh to me is more comparable to Knoxville, TN than Charlotte. I used to work in Charlotte while living in Raleigh. The only reason I’m leaving Raleigh is because I’m building a house on the coast.

Charlotte is really not THAT crowded. Both are pretty slow, sprawling Southern cities. But overall, I guess it depends on what you value. If you’re a city person, Charlotte is a better choice. I imagine the type of people who would choose Raleigh would live in the burbs anywhere they go.

Thanks for watching! Everyone certainly has their own perspective depending on what you're used to. Charlotte is certainly not a New York, but for its' size, it's proportionally very crowded, especially that traffic!

New transplant to Raliegh and I can easily see picking Charlotte over Raleigh - IF you are 1. single ANY AGE 2. Looking for more urbanism and walkable communities. It’s crap but Charlotte public transit is like DC Metro vs the NONEXISTENT transit in the triangle . 3 . It’s slightly less sprawly.. 4. Better weather. 5. Tends to be slightly cheaper also top to bottom but that gap is closing. Charlotte you can always commute from the MUCH cheaper SC side of the burbs! Lol That said I personally love Raleigh over Charlotte and always have as a regular visitor to the state - my wife is from Cary and my Grandmother from Halifax County. But I’m 45 and married with kids lol. If you are a family man/women - Charlotte is vastly inferior. If you want decent nightlife- Charlotte is vastly superior. slightly less traffic (coming from DC both are a breeze lol but Charlotte wins that category in a route for worst traffic in NC) . It’s really dependent on person and lifestyle . I love both at different phases of life. Raleigh seems like a place I wouldn’t have liked as a 28year old bachelor, but as a 45 year old with a wife and kid ? It’s PERFECT not too much city but far from a drastic culture shock if coming from bigger cities. Plus you have a whole ‘nother mid size city 35 minutes away with better food lol! Charlotte metro is 4* smaller than where I’m from, but the City has way more actual population than DC - so you definitely feel more urban and congested - light l in Charlotte
