1966 Donruss Marvel Super Heroes PSA Grade reveal & PSA Submission
Marvel Rookie Cards and Spider-Man Rookie Card
1966 Donruss Marvel Super Heroes is a 66-card set. The checklist is broken down into six 11-card sections, each showcasing a different hero. Captain America kicks off the set with the first 11 cards. He's followed by Iron Man (#12-22), Daredevil (#23-33), Spider-Man (#34-44), the Hulk (#45-55) and Thor (#56-66).
Card fronts are done to look like a comic panel. The full-color artwork features the work of era greats like Steve Ditko. Rather than taking a serious tone, the cards opt for gags and corny jokes. This trend would continue in other early sets of Marvel trading cards. Fourteen cards have no caption other than encouraging collectors to "Write Your Own." As a result, a good chunk of these succumbed to being scribbled on and personalized.
The bottom of each card breaks down the set nicely, stating the 66-card set and the section each particular card belongs to. This makes it a little easier for those looking to just collect the cards of their favorite character.
Card backs fit together to form a large labeled puzzle of all the featured heroes.
1966 Donruss Marvel Super Heroes packs come with five cards and a piece of gum. They originally cost five cents each. Full boxes have 24 packs.
