As most fashion brands have established style idioms as part of their visual vocabulary, no other house has historically put as much effort into black as Balenciaga. However, unlike the light aqua known as Tiffany blue or the blazing orange of Hermes, black at Balenciaga is not an advertising gimmick. On the contrary, it is the signature hue that allowed Cristobal Balenciaga (1895-1972) to focus on creating a sculptural vision of women's clothing that became the main pillar of his design ethic and synonymous with creative integrity, rather than marketing with its many manifestations that often dilute, but not enhance, the message.
Balenciaga's kinship with the color black was multi-layered. Rooted in his Spanish childhood, the color for him is imbued with references to matadors, folklore, piety, austerity and more. The pronounced contrast of light and dark is created when black is in contact with the scorching sun, particularly piercing in Spain, and it played a central role in the visual effect of his clothes, just as it allowed his compatriot, the painter Diego Velázquez, to convey depth in two-dimensional space. Each Balenciaga collection included a black dress that he sewed entirely himself. Many of them and were on display at the Bourdelle Museum, where the exhibition was held, with Antoine Bourdelle's sculptures as a backdrop.
At Balenciaga, black is so black that it strikes you like a punch. A thick Spanish black, almost velvet, a night without stars that makes ordinary black seem almost gray."
Unlike Vantablack, the blackest artificial substance known, Balenciaga's black does not suck you into a dark hole where all definition is lost. Instead, it uses a black color made up of many different tones, shades and textures. Fabrics that reflect, sift or absorb light expand the spectrum. And, with one color dominating, the smallest additions of other pigments are amplified. Delicate blush-pink ribbons and trims add lightness, while contrasting creamy white, pronounced but not screaming, is used as a tool to frame hemlines and collars…»

Balenciaga was born and raised in a small fishing village in the Basque Country surrounded by myst and green mountains. Listening to this almost makes you think that he was dancing flamenco in front of a bullring in Seville, on the other side of the country. I recommend you to investigate that sobriety in the Basque culture and iconography that surrounded him and not resort to hackneyed Spanish matador topics.

It is true that we Basques have little to do (from a cultural point of view) with flamenco or with the south of Spain.

The best designer to design for Balenciaga other than Mr. Balenciaga himself was Nicolas Ghesquiere . Spring/Summer 1998 is a collection that the master would have approved of ( my opinion)

This is a fine video, but I would have liked it better if it concentrated on the work of Cristobal Balenciaga only.

I cannot wait til KZbin forces channels to label AI content. This could be such a good video if it was narrated by a human being. I hear over and over again it’s about “accents”, lack of English skills etc. that is all BS. It’s about making money fast. Don’t put up with it folks.

I decided to meet you because I am often asked if I exist or if this project is the work of artificial intelligence… My name is Valeria, I am from Ukraine and I am 39 years old. For 7 years I was engaged in vintage clothing on Etsy, but then the war began and continues in my country..... It became difficult and inappropriate to sell dresses and skirts when people are bombed and dying around me almost every day. So I decided to create this channel where I will talk about what I love so much: fashion and its relationship with art. A channel without a face, because for most of last year we lived with huge power outages and it was just not physically possible to make quality videos. After a while I realized that this is even better, you listen to the story and don't get distracted by the person :) My only AI assistant is the voice, it's not mine. I'm not fluent in English, so I use technology to help with the voiceover. Everything else is my view of this beautiful world.❤️

All of what you are saying is sadly irrelevant. Try and use your own voice for a few videos and gauge reactions, until then be honest and label your videos as AI assisted. If you don't do it you will find out very quickly that your video will not get the response you are hoping for. KZbin will soon be forcing creators to label AI assisted videos. As you know many Russian and Chinese youtube channels are churning out garbage AI vids hundreds of times a day.@@FashionQuestion

Agree, prefer human voice bc there's no emotion or passion for fashion in this AI voice. It ok, you can just speak ur ukrainian language and put the title in english and a subtitles.

@@FashionQuestion no, your video is great bc u provide the old photo that hard to find on google, it slow and easy to understand, and u also upload many missed topics that no one did before. There's many non-english youtuber that speak with broken english like Tuba Avalon.
