Messi won u20 world cup it wasn't just Higuain. Higuain, Ozil, Arbeloa, Khedira. It was all of those guys. Ozil and Khedira looked good against mediocre teams but whenever we met the big boys you could see just how mediocre they were. Opposition teams used to just run through our midfield and Khedira and Ozil couldn't dictate and control the midfield at all in those games. Arbeloa was a weak spot at right back, you even had guys from the big teams visibly targeting him and exploiting his lack of pace and agility. I hate to say this but add Casillas to that list. There was a time where Casillas just plain put didn't make saves. It's weird because at one point I thought he was the best goalkeeper ever, especially during the first Galactico era, but in the second Galactico era he was just plain weak and useless. When Messi or any of the top strikers from the top teams went through one on one, I knew it was definitely a goal. He just didn't make saves at all anymore and sometimes goals would go in without him even making an effort (I hate that more than anything from a goalkeeper). There was a lot wrong with the earlier team. Another thing was the sale of Robben to Bayern. I just didn't understand that at all. Robben was by far the best Madrid player prior to Perez taking over again. I can't believe how that guy sold Robben just because he was a star from Calderon era, and didn't even bother to replace him. In Ronaldo's first season, he was the only winger in the squad. Imagine of it was him and Robben from the start, and Sneijder hadn't been sold either. Ronaldo would have won eight UCLs with real instead of four. Alas, the sale of Ozil and Higuain, the benching of Arbeloa for Carvsjal for the entire season and injury to Khedira for the entire season coinciding with Bale's arrival is what lead Madrid to finally live up to the Galactico name in 2014. I was so glad Ancelotti immediately saw the problems I had been preaching for years about that team. Ancelotti and Zidane quickly saw the same issue that Ozil had with James too. Total lack of stamina and inability to control and dictate midfield for 90 minutes against the strong teams, and they played him sparringly as a a result and even loaned him out to Bayern. People who complain about Madrid getting rid of Ozil and James do not have any true understanding of football and what it takes to win big trophies in a long and difficult season.

Every single time some says this, they don’t bring any website or article to back it up, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case with you. Most goals in CL history. 5 CL trophies. Back to back to back CL winner. Euro 2016 winner Nations cup winner. Championships in 3 of the top 5 leagues in europe. Player of the year multiple times in both Premier League and La Liga + still playing great at age 35 in Italy. All are things messi will never achieve. The man has been successfull on multiple teams, multiple systems that dont necessarily all revolve around him, the man could be the best player in the world on Real Madrid, Manchester United, Derby county - wherever you put him. It doesnt mayter where he plays. Messi could be the same way but we will never know as he wont ever leave his comfort zone. Also, Ronaldo is faster without the ball, much stronger, more powerfull shots, 100 times more dangerous in the air.. Im not saying Ronaldo is the goat. I think they both have a good case. Messi is more technically gifted with more domestic success and better stats, Ronaldo is a more complete player (physically superior with good technique) who suceeded more internationally and in different places.
