I wonder if it could also be a cure for some medical conditions. Say epilepsy?

Im sure a scientist at NASA by accident worked out that Bears that do hibernate do something that changes their metabolism so while hibernating sulphur seems to be exchanged for oxygen while they hibernate and everything slows right down before or while this is happening. This makes a bit of sense because for ages in wines and strong gassed ciders they add sulphides to keep it fresher. The scientist found this out by accident after taking blood from a bear and it being and smelling and looking like any other mammal blood but after storing it like any other blood she took it out of the fridge and she could straight away smell the change even though it was fresh and preserved and shouldnt of smelt like the rotten egg smell . It hadn't gone off or been stored poorly it had naturally changed.

"To stop aging while your family moves on without you"? A) That's not how time dilation works. B) Time dilation wouldn't be an appreciable factor for an Earth/Mars mission because we're not needing FTL travel within the solar system, that's only a concern if we travel to ANOTHER solar system.

Time Dilation has nothing to do with FTL but you are right any ship that time dilation becomes significant for would require more then the distance from here to Mars to get up to that speed. And if FTL is even possible I would guess that regulations would limit its operation to beyond Pluto as it would be far to dangerous to go FTL within the Solar System and FTL and Time Dilation are two separate things.

@@picturesalbum4532 FTL is still possible within the solar system, especially if the trip is a hop above or below the plane.

The problem with cryogenics is that even if we were able to do it, it is limited in duration. The very potassium in our bodies undergoes radioactive decay. Usually people die of other causes before the cellular damage from internal radioactivity becomes significant. However, for interstellar journeys the cellular damage is not so inconsequential.
@shadowmystery5613Ай бұрын
The half life of Potassium 40 is in the 10 to the 9 years, that's pretty much insignificant unless you intend to travel over a Million years as a human popsicle. Carbon 40 has a much shorter half life of like 5700 +/- 30 years and is of much more significance because organic chemistry and by extension biochemistry is basically carbon chemistry. What's more worrying, in Cryosleep we don't know how much of our cells are still doing their job and at which speed and repairing DNA or copying it upon mitosis is very important for our bodies integrity and cell renewel.

It’s a valid concern that would need serious attention if we ever make cryogenic travel a reality. However, with advancements in technology, scientists might find ways to minimize or repair that damage. Thanks for sharing ypur thoughts!

It’s still in its infancy, but space is not in the same time as Earth.

Do not think there will be "stasis to Mars trips because by the time they get stasis working properly Mars will only be a 3 week trip via Nuclear rocket cerca. 2050 but definitely likely for trips to Titan ( In Saturn's system ) and beyond.

I supports any research on stop aging and cure for diseases . I think death should be a choice as we all seen how painful it is to lose our love ones . Sometimes as crazy as things are if we not open minded in any research about stop aging we’ll never find a cure for it . Some search still better than none . Do I cares about exploration other planets ? Nope until we find a cure that death is a choice and billions of peoples already went n is very safe y not but the thought waking up missing out on growing old with friends n families is not worth it for me .

Isn’t cryogenic sleep already a failed concept ?
@InsaneCuriosity27 күн бұрын
It's not exactly a failed concept yet. They are still exploring ways to make it work for long-term space travel. Thanks for watching!

I like the chanel but after the AI vídeo i can only imagine and see that this is probably made with AI like chat gbt. Just ask "make a 20 min script for a vídeo about cryogenic sleep" and another to voice over them with an english accent.😅😅 sorry if i'm wrong, not sorry if i'm rigth. No shame i've use it too, but still is crazy how we are being surpased with AI and how eazy it is to use it. Why not use it to cure desiaes like AIDS? To much money in it that's the reason

Nice idea but we’re already destroying one planet, we don’t need to be bouncing around space on any other planets or moons.
