Yes it does come from "thin air", this is called a block reward. Each block reward increases the amount of bitcoin in existence.

Each bitcoin has uniqueness, and that uniqueness is it's value, bitcoin gets its uniqueness through binary digits, since these digits are sought after people use complex computer to "mine" this uniqueness and they try their best to not make it identical to other minted coins, which requires hard maths, that's why during early stages of Bitcoin it was cheap as dirt cause less demand and less people mined it. People pay money for this uniqueness, as unlike physical currency this uniqueness never corrodes or dies and unlike a government which can make our money worthless only market (which means us people) can make Bitcoin worthless, this is like stock market, prices go up and down but never die.

So to summarice the questions on comments: Same as the banks print money. bitcoin blockchain prints bitcoins for those who solve the math problem as a reward for macking a "block". that block its just a lot of operations done on the blockchain made into a big register (kinda like an accounting book) you can save on the blockchain. The reward its given cause the one solving it used energy or electricity to make the math calculations, which give those bitcoin a price cause something was used to make them. the first bitcoins where mined and printed by Satoshi itself and he left something like the first 100k coins on that wallet? So if he never touches them the price will always go up since it already isnt cero.

Bit coin mining isn’t a math problem it’s a rolling dice problem! Imagine a dice with 1000 sides each side has a number 1-1000. Every minute the die is tossed if you got a number between 1-10 you solved it. I have to laugh when people try to make Bitcoin mining sound like engineering 🤣 nothing smart about it all it is is statistics 101 at best. Every digital transaction causes fees that are fraction of a penny digitally speaking I don’t quite understand that part so I just call that the 4th dimension. Bit coin mining costs way more energy than the pay off! What every you do don’t try it at home you will make 36 dollars and end up with 200 dollars electricity bill and possibly burn your house down because standard house wiring can’t handle it even on a dedicated line!!!!.
