Everybody knows Canada's pretty cucked. From SJW infestation, to Islamist migrants, to Justin Trudeau, you can't say Canada's NOT cucked at this point. But just HOW cucked is Canada? In this multi-part series, I aim to find that out. In part 2 of "How Cucked Is Canada", I discuss Canada's public school system. It's changed a LOT since I was in high school! From Social Justice Classes, to the removal of 'oppressive' specialized streams for well-performing students, to school boards giving kids masturbation advice, it sounds like Canada's education system is quite cucked indeed.

"Social justice emphasizes that because you were wronged, somebody else needs to take action to fix you." While this is philosophically true and relates to the video's content, the chief problem with Canada's education system is that there is no compromise between personal responsibility and "social justice." The system inherently indoctrinates students based on more than just "social justice," and actively refuses to compromise. To elaborate, I graduated from a New Brunswick high school two years ago [as of this June]. I found that my time there was a waste, because classes were too easy and I reaped little to no value from my education. Upon going to a guidance office like I was told, I was met with "you have to solve this for yourself," which is all well and good - when the teachers comply. The few that did tended to ask me for more of the same work to keep me busy, rather than helping me further my studies. Eventually, I returned to the guidance office and was told that New Brunswick "does not have the funding for students like [me]." In a future discussion, I was told that "if you weren't a senior we would happily accommodate you." That's pretty ironic, given the previous three years' discussions. Simply put, trying to take responsibility for your actions or level out unfair outcomes - at least in the public education system - is pointless when the system is underfunded and refuses to help. Secondly, universities tend to prioritize values like effort over talent. In my time at a New Brunswick university, I have seen my grades drop from not attending classes - despite my A-range work. Lectures, in my time there, consisted of profs reading from texts or summarizing the material in ways that would have been obvious to anyone who read it. Any attempt at compromise is met with pretentiousness ["It takes years to understand Plato, my job as someone with that understanding is to bridge the gap,"] argument from authority ["this is what my syllabus says and I am in control of your education"] or even circular arguments ["the university won't compromise with students like [me - I apologize if that seems whiny] because there is no precedent" but no precedent can be set because they won't compromise." In short, the video gives a good snapshot of the political issues - but not the purely philosophical ones. It's also a good primer on BC and ON, but the Eastern provinces have it far worse [though that might just be because I've lived in them]. Similarly, Arts [by virtue of its content and the people it attracts] is much more problematic in terms of bureaucracy.

New Brunswick is a shit province, has been since Frank Mckenna brought french into the education system. My education both from college and public school was completely full of SJW bullshit, union members even came to the school and told students if they wanted jobs they had better vote for Trudeau.

A year old comment, but this was pretty much my experience with the system. I thought that maybe it was just the schools I chose, but if this is how it is in other schools then ... That's unfortunate. Ah, for reference, I'm in Ontario.

@Tristan Hallihan Hmm. So in trying to take initiative and help further your study and education, you went to your high school's guidance office... only to be told that they weren't going to help you beyond giving you more work as a means of silencing you. Makes you wonder if what happened to you is the way things are done within the other provinces and cities within Canada.

I don't know if this is to a greater or lesser extent in America, but my high school was and still is fucking insane. My eleventh grade teacher would constantly make remarks about girl power and how important historic movements weren't progressive enough like the Civil Rights Movement, and would keep tabs on the gender ratios of after school activities and complain when she noticed an imbalance. A lot of the stuff I learned in that class was anti-capitalist and pro-communist. Worst part was that was so expected that no one else in the class seemed to really notice or care.

I took social justice 12 in 2011 here in BC. When I took it, it was an elective and we mostly learned about women and children in 3rd world countries and their oppression and status in the world. It wasn't based on any of the shit they are learning now. We also learned about the unrest between Palestinians and Israelis. I miss those days, those are real social justice issues. We also studied the genocide in Rwanda.

To me the saddest part was when the kids say "you are a thought criminal" that means it's never going to end. That's what's happening here. I know that I'm jumping to ridiculous conclusions here, but every time I hear a SCIENCE teacher regurgitating socialist propaganda he heard in a fucking podcast last night and every single one in that room says "that's normal" when someone mentions the word transgender like it's a reflex... Well it kinda worries me.

That's a good explanation, and it's pretty funny how they try to justify their existence. I still don't know why they bother with useless crap like "gender studies" in the first place. Where I live in Eastern Europe everyone is trying to learn how to not starve, and these "studies" would get laughed at and discarded immediately. This social justice trend is very jarring to me.

I gathered with friends for dinner last night. We were a few granny's sipping on wine. At one point the conversation found us sharing our worries about what is ahead for the little ones we know and love. The future for these bright and beautiful children being taught in the public school system doesn't look promising. There is no comparison to the education we received in the 50's, 60's and early 70's. None. Like a vast array of societal complex issues, education of the masses has gradually lost footing and is slipping down a precarious slope towards a quagmire bubbling up towards a group think mentality that could explode into a totalitarian society. (quagmire : 2.a situation from which extrication is very difficult). Home schooling? Private schools? Alternatives, but only for a fortunate few. What about all the others? It's a mess. And then there are those who couldn't care less and aren't paying attention. And next. What about our universities????!! Keep up the good work.

Sometimes when I watch videos like this I think to myself “there is no way that this could exist in the world.” With this particular one, what with there being quite so many examples of “things that surely could not possibly be, except in a completely random system,” after a while I had the uniquely terrifying realisation that if I really honestly consider exactly what is going on, that I actually find myself struggling to come to grips with the fact that any of this could actually be real. Fortunately, however, all these things are true, and it’s the world that has gone mad, and not me. I say fortunately.

This is so awful, I live in Canada and most of the students do not know that this is happening and what's worse is that students who are forced into political issues will not know what is the issue about, most of them will not look deep into the issue and will ONLY trust the ones who give them information (Social Justice/Activists). Teens and children can't able to handle politics because they never learn about politics and many times most of the social justice simplify the issues when in reality it's really complicated once your opened to every side. This is a problem teachers and students never see and then they draw beautiful rainbows and flowers like "aaaahhhh, what a peaceful" world.

in Alberta we have school choice, and the parent is legally the primary educator of their children, with a right to have their own values instilled in their child via that school choice. The current provincial government is using overcrowding that they created as an excuse to try and prevent parents from moving their children between schools, claiming overcrowding even when there was space for them in order to destroy school choice. It's quite disturbing and many parents are pulling their kids out of school to homeschool all together, and they are trying to go after them too, like by forcing homeschool kids to do so many hours per week in a classroom.

Thankfully when I was growing up my parents bought me science books (when the age of the Internet was a good 10 years away). When I was 7-8 years old I knew that the sun would die in a few billion years. I learned about the environment, animals, machines. I remember almost nothing while I was in school, and virtually everything I do remember is stuff from books I read of my own accord. The school system in general is generally useless, people learn at different rates, have different interests, different competences; yet everyone is taught at the same rate, and pass people who score less than 100%. What kind of real world task would you want less than 100% competence in? Surgery? Electrical wiring? Structural engineering? Well considering that bridge collapse in the USA I guess less than 100% competence is acceptable. Competence was on a downhill path even back in the 1980's. One of my more clearer memories was when we had a school assembly and it was announced that they were no longer going to be giving out merit/honor awards, because it would make people who didn't get them feel bad. Certainly didn't make me motivated to try, since the lesson apparently was "Don't try, we're not going to acknowledge you if you succed"

Im a senior in highschool, and I've been seriously noticing leftist ideologies slowly seeping into curriculum, especially in english. They started doing social justice units, reading books about oppressed individuals, and throwing random shit at the wall related to toxic masculinity. Thankfully at the moment the classes try to focus on social justice in relation to history instead of its current state. That being said, teachers seem genuinely afraid to express non left opinions. Whenever they get ibto situations where they have to deal with a controversial topic, they hesitate with a look of fear on their faces before going the leftist root. Then theres all the extra curricular shit that tries to push for diversity but seems to shut down intellectual diversity. It gets even more complicated with the canadian hate speech laws because I often find myself in a situation where my only methods of countering flawed arguments becomes controversial and puts me at risk of someone else abusing the hate speech laws. I cant fucking wait to get out of here because this shit is so fucking stupid.

This kinda reminds me of a time when some gay people came to a class in Sec 1 or 2, basically middle school, to try to help raise awareness and teach tolerance towards homosexuality, it was only really a 15 minute talk and paper handed out to ask people what they thought of the talk and homosexuality, and they class was polite and pretended to be fine with the talk, but honestly after they left, people spoke about how it made them feel kinda uncomfortable, and that talk by comparison to what was on the website is basically P-G 13 at the worst. I find it seriously it is fucked up talking to kids at such a young age about how they should try exploring their own sexuality, before they might even be comfortable with it. I get that these people think what they are doing is in their minds simply to help kids and to try to make things easier for them, but there is a difference between sex education for actual health reasons and sex advice. One is something kids actually might need to learn before they have those kinds of relationships, and the other is shit you don't need to learn about, until you are in those kinds of relationships, and even then are things people can discover for themselves just fine.

why don't they teach kids about HOW to have relationships first- showing respect, reciprocity, encouragement... or do they just assume thats taught in the home like sex apparently isn't?

The problem with educational systems in the west can be summed up as follows: Educators never leave school. They never have to get a job in the real world and have no idea how reality works.

Putting applied students into academic will raise their aspirations and confidence? Uh no? It will do the exact opposite, if they are struggling and getting poor grades because the level is not at their competency, it will only ruin their self esteem.

I say this as someone who in highschool tried to take precalc math (we had three levels: precalc, applied, and consumer). I tried my hardest and studied my ass off. I got my first test back and got 1/28 on it and was crushed. I switched immediately to applied math and have hated math ever since.

That butt plug picture at the end (sorry) of that remarkable document for kids you dug up has me wondering if I need to reconsider what I've always understood the meaning of the idiom "to spit the dummy" to be. On a related note, my father was a medical general practitioner. I remember him telling me he had once been presented with a patient moving somewhat gingerly and refusing the offer of a seat. Turns out he had a schooner glass (a 425 mL glass) inserted in his arse. Based on your video, it seems that patient was ahead of the times. I find it ironic that Canada refers to what appears to me (and the writer of the article you discussed) to be pissing on its educational structure as 'de-streaming', but perhaps I'm peculiar. Cheers

As it relates to social justice vs personal responsibility: I think that the intentions of social justice warriors are good. I mean, in an idealized world, there are little to no outside factors that hold you down, so the main controlling factor in your success in life is one's own decision making. Everyone gets an education so that it's not just the wealthy people who can be wealthy. Universal healthcare is implemented so that the unlucky aren't locked in a battle with debt and being physically unable to follow their dreams because they can't afford the care they need to become successful enough to afford the care they need. But the difference between government welfare (if implemented properly) and social justice at the end of the day is that social justice seeks to dumb things down so that they are available for everyone, rather than elevate everyone up. Rather than using highly effective social campaigns to change hearts and minds or implement effective policies that would fix issues that lead to gender and racial inequality, they would rather use affirmative action (a treatment of the symptom rather than a cure, if you will). A good example for the U.S. is that since escaping poverty is hard, and a lot of black people are in poverty (I mean, it's not like they started from an equal position as generations passed; they clawed to attain equal rights), then part of the solution to the issues they face (crime stats, reinforcing their own stereotypes, low income, low education) could be solved by improving funding to the education system and to those neighborhoods in general, as well as any other solution that would mitigate poverty issues. Those things would improve many people's problems, not just black people, and would be more successful than forced representation via quotas and affirmative action. Doing the former raises people up, while the latter lowers expectations. And obviously there's limits to this kind of thing. I'm sure that, in the U.S., there are still too many racist (unconscious or overt) people, and solving issues with poverty won't fix that issue (but fixing poverty and poor education will help with crime rates and income, which can indirectly improve issues like the stereotypical black thug). And as it relates to limits to elevating people up: there's a limit to what humans can do, so very high expectations, for example, can cause its own problems -- children of age 3 will likely never be able to solve complex coding problems, at least while they're still homo sapiens. But human history in general has always been a process of making things better and easier for the next generation so that they can stand upon the shoulders of giants. Social justice would rather ask the giants to bend over than try to encourage others to learn how to climb (even if assisted with harnesses, firm grips, ropes, etc, for those who are falling behind) in order to stand upon said giants' shoulders.

Never thought I'd be so happy that I went to school when actual education was the goal. So when I was in the 7th grade, they gave the students who showed good math skills a test for advanced placement in highschool (which I got placed in). So Canada is doing away with that? If they pull down standards so everyone can pass, then outcome of the country will fall and quality of life will decline.

When one is young and immersed into the seas of academia one is asked what one wants to be when one grows up? Which pigeon hole? What label? What career? When a car driver loses control of the vehicle and strays from the path that was ahead, the car careers off the road. One might crash. One is no longer on the journey one originally set out on. One is lost. Off the beaten track. So, when one is a child and asked what career one wants, esoterically it means how can one be swayed or crashed and stopped from what one may want to be when one grows up. The only answer a child should give to their teacher (indoctrinater) is...HAPPY!👍🐯

The division of academic and applied is absolutely irredeemable. It’s the same in the UK, and it should be done away with, and the curriculum should be readjusted. It annoys me that SJWs are the first ones pushing for this.

SJWS are just as bad as fundy Christians. I grew up in the 70s and 80s, I'm secular and a humanist with a libertarian slant. When you talk to sjws you get the same blank stares and ideology driven conversation that you get from any cult like person, no real argument, just pre rendered opinions and lack of logic or real thinking. We live in scary times and it's all thanks to our school system and their "we know better than you" brand of "education". I don't feel like I'm in Canada, anymore, but some Bizarro version, this can't be a good step into our future.I hope things get better, but time will tell........ Great content, per usual!
