I don’t agree. Put Enzo in the left forward midfield position, Caicedo holding along with either inverted full back and Cole Palmer is then in his best position. Enzo then can provide the creative spark that Lavia doesn’t give us.

Regardless of who plays, there is always going to be drawbacks. Without compromising the Caicedo and Lavia pivot, you could have Gusto hold width and Palmer in the RHS. Allows you to fit Neto and Nkunku on the left. However, the system’s main purpose is for the wingers to engage in 1v1’s and be as direct as possible. Gusto isn’t going to do that like Madueke does. Playing Enzo means you will score much more but you lose defensive stability. It’s very difficult to find the balance

it does frustrate me with noni as he is sadly much more wasteful than our other wide forwards but he's such a threat in his duels and drags us up the pitch. if he had even half of palmers finishing and decision making he'd be undroppable, he's too one footed.

@@Enblock- No, that's not true but he does very postivie things. Are you saying the things Neto does are all instructed by the manager? Players are different, the manager just utilizes their abilities to the max. Neto finds a way to cross, Noni beats his man each time. Issue is Neto is effective while Noni is wasteful. We just don't have anyone as effective as Noni or Neto os both get to play. if Sancho or Mudryk could beat their man, Noni goes bench easily especially if they could defend. Sancho defends by holding the ball, Mudryk is just useless, Noni and Neto defend by winning duels and tracking back. This is why Noni still plays. But he's nowhere near Neto's effectiveness or maturity. Chelsea need another Neto on the left to play both netos but they only have one.

Great analysis. Except for the Fernandez part. The reason he's on the bench isn't purely the defensive stability the Moi-Lavia pivot offers. Fernandez has failed to put in impactful performances up until the last Conference League game and Arsenal. For the majority of the time, Lavia was out earlier this season, and Fernandez underwhelmed significantly. Especially considering the quality he showed when we signed him in January. He played his way out of the team more than Lavia played himself into it.

No you are wrong, enzo was never that bad. He isnt put ahead because how he play is what allow palmer to shine and the defense problem is what made up all the "not good enought" narrative. What palmer is doing when lavia play instead is far worse than anything enzo ever did and thats because palmer is not good enought to generate the entire offensive work of the team. U lot really dont see that enzo field vision is the best in the entire team

Maresca knows Palmer would be marked, however he puts him in a position that makes it easy for other players to have a free way while Palmer suffers. Palmer knows that and still wants to get lose. Should Palmer get lose from his tight corner, he would affect the game positively more for Chelsea

Chelsea backline is good, the issue lies with Sanchez only... eliminate the Sanchez, you have a perfect defense. drop lavia for Enzo, you have a balanced mid that unlocks Palmer, allowing him to receive the ball closer to the opposite box

I actually think caicedo can operate as a loan DM and cucurella who is good defensively can join him. Maresca used Ndidi as a 10 FFS. why not caicedo be the one to push instead of gusto because in 5 games some really good chances have fallen to gusto where our best player should have been. Caicedo is more of a goal threat than gusto man. Its either do this or just bench Lavia coz him not being able to do what Enzo does has made us worse say what you want but its a fact we were less stable defensively but we scored more with enzo

Agreed, it’s definitely hard when we are defensively vulnerable with Enzo but having that extra firepower is equally great. I do think as Lavia is young give him some games to develop, I do think he will become better at attacking with time. If we do bring in a better CB Enzo lacking defensively won’t hinder us as much.

i said the only answer to unleash palmer is to make him false 9. He is now messi in terms of how much teams focus on marking him tactically. If they play him false 9 then palmer wont recieve too deep positionally. If you want reference to how he will operate as false 9, think messi false 9 under pep. Just rewatch a few of his games and imagine this lineup. If Cucurella was wearing an Arsenal shirt, he would’ve been sent off. Obvious yellow card for hauling Saka back in the first half was not given which would’ve changed how he defended Saka. He was allowed to kick through Saka until Oliver finally gave him a yellow. Caicedo did not even get a yellow despite persistent fouling and pushing. Then Oliver had the gumption to give Havertz a yellow for refusing to leave the pitch when Havertz wanted to receive treatment on the pitch to avoid playing with ten men.
