It truly wasnt even his fault either, the entire lions team flopped the entire second half. Dropping easy first down conversion passes, overthrown deep balls to guys who were wide open, TONS of missed tackles, fumbling the ball, missing two easy interceptions one in which lead to a miracle completion. If the lions took advantage of even half of the opportunities they were given in the 2nd half the game wouldn't have come down to a simple field goal call. People who say its his fault they lost are delusional.

It's a bit like the Chargers overreacting to choking against the Patriots in 2006 and firing Marty Schottenheimer after a 14-2 season. Just plain dumb. Though, Norv Turner reaching the AFC Championship game the following season, only slightly vindicates that move. Firing Dan Campbell would be the dumbest move the Lions could possibly make.

As a Lions fan, I can promise that if we had a Time Machine back in 2021, and if we traveled to today, Lions fans would absolutely rejoice at this season rather than complain about Dan and the team. It's weird to see fans of other teams be happy for the Lions. It was fun to actually be able to root for a good team once again, but it was especially fun to root for this particular team. The remind me of that 04 Pistons team that beat the Lakers in the Finals. They play hard, aren't particularly flashy and they're good because they're a well built squad and not because they happen to have one amazing player. Different guys can step up and make crucial plays when necessary.

Right now, (November 30th, 2024) the Lions are Superbowl favorites by quite a big margin, they have the largest point differential at +181, and are playing lights out. Dan Campbell is the hero of Detroit along with Jared Goff having multiple PERFECT games, including one game where he went 16/16 passing. It's unreal how quickly they turned it around. Campbell is already being considered for the ring of honor in Detroit.

While it hurts and while I'm sad, I have never been more proud of my team than I am today! Is this purely on MCDC? No. Is this on Goff? No. Is this on the whole team? Yes. He'll need the DC (mostly) and OC to step it up next season, otherwise, this will happen again! You don’t go balls deep into Dan Campbell, Dan Campbell goes balls deep into you. And thanks for making this video, Perna. Dan and Brad and Sheila brought this team back from the dead and have made it fun to be a Lions fan. I was and still am heartbroken over that last loss, but am amazed at how far we’ve come as an organization since the hiring of these guys. I hope they continue to build off of everything that they’ve done so far and can win us some rings.

Lifelong fan for 35 years (my dad got me into it, I had no choice). Sunday felt like I had my soul crushed. I'd actively avoided sports media in general since because of the hurt. This video was the first thing I've consumed, media wise since Sunday, and it's definitely helping to cure the hangover. 2024 will be a great year for us, and also coincidentally the mg of caffeine MCDC will consume daily.

As much as people thank Campbell, for me Brad Holmes has been the deal maker for this team. His drafts have been spectacular, or at the very least very good.

They're both crucial to the success and I don't think one would have done so well without the other. And I think it's okay to say his drafts have been spectacular given how well he did with their first four picks in 2023.

@@BiggieTrismegistus100% I recommend to everyone their draft documentary of last season. Brad and Dan are always working as one mind. Everytime a possible trade comes, Brad inserts Dan in the conversation and takes his opinion into account. Both know what they want. And they were happy with that draft. People talk about Branch, questioning a round 1 RB, and they were saying after day 2 "we got four starters" I likely made some mistakes, but I think you got the general idea

Consider this is only the second time the Lions have made the NFC championship for a just a moment, Dan Campbell has been the best thing to come to the Lions franchise in a long time. I'm a believer in this team, that they will find their way here again under DC. As a Jags fan I would trade Doug for Dan any day, but that isn't gonna happen.

But now we have two of the best backs in the league in Gibbs and Montgomery, who arguably equal about one and a half Barry Sanders’ , at least. 🦁 🏈 🏆 EDIT: This was the video that got me to subscribe to the channel. The way I recall it, most loyal long-time fans really were excited about this new type of Coach, esp. after that first press conference. He wanted to be here and he was a tough dude. It didn't embarrass us, and the pretentious talking heads on tv? Well, obviously most didn't have a clue about the fanbase in Michigan or even Detroit culture. But Sheila Ford Hamp did. And the only serious doubting moment came in year 2 after the Bye when the team was slapped down hard. Most of us were angry with, & ashamed of, the fans who booed Sheila. But Sheila ignored them, came out and said she stood by Coach Campbell. And then we started winning... some losses, but winning!... And now the same talking heads are saying DC is the new style of HC that will be desired by most teams… Despite this past terrible second half in the championship game, it is still ‘In DC & Holmes & Sheila We Trust.’ Still Proud, One Pride!

19:13 Every time I think of the Lions and why I started rooting for them (despite being a Vikings fan), I think of Tree’s recap of this game vs the Seahawks in Week 4 of 2022. His words were “The Lions may be a 1-3 team but they’re a DAMN interesting 1-3 team.” And the rest, is history. I’ll be a Vikings fan until the day I die, but I can admit I felt a little pride watching the Lions claw and bite their way to the top of our division these past two years.

Man it’s so devastating how they lost that game!! At halftime I told the homies “everything gotta go wrong for the Lions and everything right for the Niners for them to comeback” and it was almost exactly like that! Dan kept it real with his players “this might’ve been are only shot” cuz it’s so hard to go back! Cheers to him and the whole staff, making the Lions relevant after all these years is bad ass

Hearing that we're retaining Ben Johnson was the blast of dopamine I needed on day 2 of my mourning. It still sucks, there is no guarantee they will get back there again, but I don't like how everyone is questioning and criticizing his play calls. Those types of calls are what they have done all year, they go for the throat, they go for the kill shot. The players did not execute. Between the 49ers' lucky breaks and the Lions' mistakes, they proved they weren't quite ready yet.

I'm tired of the cheap shots being taken at the Lions. I knew that it was gonna be bad if we lost. Soooo many people had been getting behind the Lions. Those same folks went rabid. It sucked, mistakes had been made. At the same time it was 100% exactly what inspired so much pride over the last 3 years. Gutsy, gritty football. I love and and I CAN NOT WAIT for next season. GO LIONS!

Let's be honest with Dan Campbell here, he really has truly changed the culture in Detriot and I think it was a huge surprise to many that he brought then to the Championship this year. I don't think his fourth down calls going for it instead of field goals would've mattered because of how the 49ers were rallying to come back. I truly don't think it would've mattered, but this team exceeded expectations and I think that with retaining staff, good free agent signings, and a killer draft, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Super Bowl next season. I'm really upset they didn't make it this year because I really wanted them to but this team's future is very bright.

I remember being made aware of the Lions during their 0-16 season, and I decided right there that I was going to be a Lions fan, despite living nowhere close to detroit, because someone had to. There has been setback after heartbreak after collapse but i always felt the team went down swinging, even when they would often pull defeat from the jaws of victory and find new and exciting ways to lose. I'm so happy for their recent success, I am thrilled that other people have been made aware of the grit and dogged resilience that i feel defines this team and the city they rep. It feels great that the team finally feels like it has its feet under them and the future is looking bright.

Watched this again right before the Lions’s match against the Texans in Week 10 of 2024. As of now, at 7-1, we’re arguably the best team in the league and the definitive favorite to *at least* make our first-ever SB appearance, if not win it all. Words can’t describe what this feels like.

The biggest take away from this whole process is this man gave us not just hope, but pride in our team. This is the first time I’ve ever been this hurt from a lions lost, loved the lions my whole life, but this is the first time when I actually felt hurt my team lost, and I gotta say, it’s a privilege to feel this way. I never thought I would be alive when the lions came knocking on the door for the Super Bowl and all those fake ass announcers and sports host couldn’t ignore us! They heard our knocks!!! We put the fear of god into the number 1 seed, we beat the Super Bowl champs, we finally earned a spot at the table. This feels good man, on to the next season
