I like how the fundamental problem with "smart" TVs is never addressed. I'm talking about the fact that they might not actually show us what we want to watch, but what corporations like Google or Amazon want us to watch.

😂😂🤣🤣 Companies are there for profits. And NOT for customers. That's why we should ditch all corporate stuff and build and contribute open source projects as a community, and use it.

Bigtech companies are making all of us believe we make our own decisions, when in reality they, in a way, have nearly full control our minds.

I learned a lot about IOT from this video and how IOT affects my daily life. I was interested in various machines using IOT, but among these machines, drones and self-driving cars were impressive.

Great presentation! Just like any tool it has the potential of abuse by third parties. While I welcome the Internet of Things in general, manufacturers need to implement strong security measures & opt-in agreements to prevent abuse of the IoT devices.

IOT is making computers strong and people weak .
@babylfsh
@babylfsh 5 жыл бұрын
Computers merely follow instructions. In closed source, proprietary systems, computers follow only the instructions of the company that owns them. This isn't making computers strong, it's making proprietors (mostly corporations) strong, and by proxy, the government strong via PRISM.

@@babylfsh But if AI is developed enough to the point that it can control IoT devices then there will be no need for people, jobs are already being lost due to these technological advancements and its only going to get worse if no body steps in.

@@oipoip3 Not sure exactly what you're trying to say. General AI is a very dangerous idea for much more severe reasons than job loss.

@@babylfsh Connecting AI to IoT devices could basically enable machines to control every aspect of a persons life in the future if all devices become connected to the Internet.

The problem with IoT is we can't keep track of things related to it. What's communicating with what. It'll end up in a big mess for us all.

Humans making IOT devices: Hardest choices requires the strongest will. Hackers: Then I think you will find our will equal to your!

Increase Privacy by using user's Retina Scan, Fingerprint, Tongue and user's voice....Add extra security by using these capabilities humans are pocessing. Only user should have access to his/her data not the companies...We respect Apple's Idea of saving our privacy. Add limitations on these IOT devices. Add encryption to IOT devices to not share data to API's.

So a smart fridge is like having a limited iPad stuck on the front of your fridge? Has the worl gone mad? Also the smart TVs knows what we are supposed to watch? Not what we want to watch. Smh

Most of the "cons" he mentioned sounded like pros to me. Also, this talk was so dumbed down there were no facts, data, or science to back up anything he said.

It is a good research but puts the issues in a bad light I'd thought of again all of the issues that the speaker addressed have a immidiate solution which can be done on the software developer level and or on the manufacturer level I'd things are taking in a way that they will aide life and pro active work will be done on nullifying the negatives that the speaker reported
