Hi, thanks for watching. I tried a somewhat more casual and less scripted style in this episode. Let me know if you like this over the usual style or if I should go back to more fast paced but with less rambling :)

This was so helpful yet it’s rarely talked about! I learned the hard way that the edit page effects come before the Clip-level grading. Once a client asked me to stabilise a few clips in the middle of the grade and that threw off all the tracking I had done. This was a beauty project so I had tons of Patch Replacement OFX instances and power windows…an absolute nightmare. This is why everyone should watch this video so they don’t end up in a sticky situation like me. Thank you, Sven!

Thanks. Oh no, this sounds horrible. I've only ever heard that magic mask had problems with stabilizing in the edit page. But if I remember correctly they fixed it in some versions ago. Hope you could get it sorted in time.

Very well done. As mentioned below, very few talk about these important basics. I will definately come back for more in-depth videos. Subscribed.

Beautifully explained but I"m more than confused since I was doing what I'm not supposed to do as explained in this page. Request you to please make a video with an example project to explain the concepts to a newbie like me. At least direct me to some video which will explain these video details with a project. I have been using Adobe Premiere Pro since two decades and just this week I purchased Davinci Resolve Studio and I'm overwhelmed with the settings, pages and editing concepts.

Hi, I am not quite sure what exactly is causing the confusion and what kind of video you want. Could you tell me what you mean with "doing what I'm not supposed to do as explained in this page" ?

@@NOIRGRADE I meant that I used to create a fusion composition first and then worked on the Fusion Page whereas you have told not to do so. Now I got it right. Thanks. BTW, any example project, be it, travel video or short film or wedding highlights explaining when to use Cut TAB, Edit TAB and Fusion TAB. This concept needs to be properly understood. There are tons of tutorials on the net which are confusing. Your video was concise and to the point and I loved the way you explained the concept. Thank you very much for communicating. It means a lot to me.

Future topic: Where and how do proxies and optimized media fit in this flow? Can I composit on the fusion page (or colorgrade on the color page) with optimized media? Maybe its too specific a question. Proxies and optimized media have different benefits and applications. No.1: editing with proxies is super fast! No.2: having optimized media in ridiculous quality (ProResXQ4444) could save time on decoding from raw (lets imagine a FullHD timeline but having a 6K-raw master). Thanks for the nice content! Frohes Neues. :)

Hi, my best guess is that optimized media and proxies are created right after the camera raw settings. It's honestly hard to tell from the information available, but to me it makes the most sense when the media is created at the very start (you obviously need to debayer first, so that's why camera raw come before). Not sure yet if this is worth a full video, but I'll think about it.

@@NOIRGRADE No worries! It's not a terribly important topic. Looking forward to the other topics your cooking up!
