I really liked Henry as Superman and I was basically one of the only people I knew who enjoyed Zack Snyder’s dc vision, but I can understand why WB wants to reboot. Their is too much baggage with the old dc. I think most of the general public don’t like Zack’s version and wouldn’t be on board even if Henry was there. I defiantly blame the old WB regime for this outcome for mishandling Henry as Supes and the DCEU.

I can see why WB would want to reboot from a business standpoint but I firmly believe there’s a lot cons that come with doing so! A clean slate has potential yes but it’s far too late to go back to the very start of a entire verse. I also don’t feel confident in WB even committing to Gunns verse if it receives backlash. All it takes is the general public they’re trying so desperately hard to appease to go against one or two movies for them to sail ship and go in a different direction, WB has shown they’re heavily affected by short term public opinion. I do agree that the DC cinematic universe Snyder had cultivated was in a tricky spot but I do believe DC found they’re footing by doing they’re own thing with films like The Batman and Joker coexisting outside of the main verse whilst films connected to it like Black Adam still followed the overarching story with many potential films to come. At the very least we should have gotten a Man Of Steel 2 which was way long overdue and gone from there, but I do indeed recognise the possibility of the lack of Snyder being apart it to be potentially worrying.

So far I have faith in this new WB because the clueless, empty headed old WB people are out and we have new blood that are taking the DC brand seriously, even if it means getting rid of the stuff people loved from the old regime. Only time will tell if they act like cowards and change their minds like the old WB. DC finally have their own studio which is huge for making content. I heard James Gunn only has to get the green light by the head of WB for projects so their would be less interference which as before Zack Snyder had to deal with dumbass executives who didn't know what they wanted and made decisions that made Zack's projects suffer in the end. I will say that I am a fan of James Gunn and his work which is why I may be blindly excepting him as our savior at WB but time will tell. He said their would be else world stories too that don't affect the main DCU like the batman and joker which were amazing. So far I am optimistic for the future based on what I have seen but in 10 years we will all know for sure if James Gunn was a good decision or not. PS: They should of had 4 Superman movies by now!!

Exactly, there was a video dedicated to Snyder’s Justice League films based off storyboards and concept art that it wasn’t even set in stone. In fact after the big show down against Darkseid Batman dies, has an affair with Lois Lane, gets her pregnant, and Superman raises his kid and then that Bat Bastard becomes the new Batman and that’s that end of the DCEU. Nothing beyond that. Not even Batman Beyond.

As a director, Zack had to "tow the line" like everyone else involved. Before Man of Steel was even released, he had given interviews stating that he intended for Superman to have a three-film trilogy similar to Nolan's TDR. However, when MOS failed to meet expectations, WB panicked and decided to throw in Batman to save the franchise. Hell, the majority of BvS's narrative was a "fix" to issues audiences had with MoS. That movie has rush job written all over it.

I don’t really blame James Gunn for this situation. Besides Walter Hamada was still in charge before he stepped down and it was The Rock that through everyone and went straight to David Zaslav to get Cavill in Black Adam. I saw the post credit scene and I didn’t get excited like other people instead I was waiting for when WB would pull the rug from under the fans. And yeah we all know how that turned out. I blame the studio and Hamada for this situation and I also blame Dwayne Johnson for getting the fans hyped up before anything was set in stone for the future. The biggest draw for Black Adam was Henry Cavill and he was only on screen for like 15 seconds and Black Adam wasn’t even a good movie on its own and barley anyone showed up for it. Probably because they don’t care for DC anymore or they knew it was too good to be true. I just hope James Gunn has a consistent and focused plan and that the studio won’t stray away from that path. Also get the right people for the right projects. Zack Snyder’s vision didn’t work and if they stuck to the original plan it would’ve flopped because the DCEU back then was plagued by poor studio management and questionable story decisions that killed it in the first place.

@@CharlieKZbinr all in all DC is just dead man. How come a seemingly low budget CW show has a better Superman than the films? I liked Man of Steel but there were so many creative decisions from both Snyder and Goyer I did not like and Batman vs Superman had a lot of studio interference and influence but still the creative decisions that Snyder and Goyer made were completely them. You see a lot of those questionable creative choices in the Snyder Cut. There’s also the actors like Ezra Miller and Amber Heard where fans created a petition to kick out Amber Heard from Aquaman 2 and Ezra Miller’s criminal activities as well and now fans want Miller out completely. There’s so much baggage there. I’m kinda glad Cavill got booted from the ridiculousness coming from WB that he’s honestly better off and has a bright future. I heard he’s currently working on a Warhammer 40K series for Amazon based off the video game. Could be good could bad but still he’s better off without WB and DC screwing him.

This version of Superman is good that's no lie, not at all but I feel you are severely underplaying the 90's animated Superman and his background, the complicity of his personality, and maybe a little more but to each their own. My favorite version of him is Earth 0 (Prime Earth). But Superman in these movies doesn't really feel that much like a boy scout when he's Superman, I think he actually frowns or has a straight face more than he does that however his actual character is just different enough to make him unique but still feel kinda like Superman.

This guy was the perfect Superman. WB wasted his potential by not making good stories and cash grabbing in creating Dawn of Justice instead of introducing a new villain like Brainiac for Superman to fight. I admit I was thrilled when a new batman was announced to be in the next Superman movie, and as I said someone new to fight Superman, why not make Batman Vs Superman. Now that's something new. But it wasn't as good as I expected it to be. DC movies should be gold, like Man of Steel and The Dark Knight. Considering they compete with Marvel, they should be just as good. But they were far behind in competition with Marvel and they failed in an attempt to catch up, making a justice League movie a little too early, with little character developments in the other heroes. I think they directed attention towards the others and laid off of superman for a bit, hence the neglect towards the character and its own franchise. I guess there wasn't enough genius minds to work on superman as well as his league members.

Warner Brothers and DC are to blame mostly for these horrid impulsive decisions and I was on the same sentiment as you initially when Batman Vs Superman came out when I was much younger, thinking it to be cool and excited since Batfleck was gonna make an appearance but yeah they definitely shifted focus away from Superman we should have had a Man Of Steel 2 and other solo films for characters like Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the League. I love Henry Cavill and I really wanted to see him redeemed as a proper Superman. However, you can’t ignore the fact that this version of the character and universe just didn’t resonate with people. The first Iron Man movie did less than Man Of Steel in the box office and Batman Vs Superman almost crossed a billion keep in mind this was while DC was stigmatised as only making bad movies. Would that mean Iron Man wasn’t a financial hit? It’s a short term thing to assume you gotta invest long term with superhero projects like this especially way back then! I know a Man Of Steel would have financially really well! Critically I think these movies were bombarded by parroted claims made by others that people went with since it was the norm. I think it didn’t resonate with others because they were so use to Christopher Reeves esk and animated series Superman but it’s kinda hard to deliver that in an origin film you know plus different interpretations and all. The proper Superman you and many others wanted was gonna happen eventually but that’s DCs and WBs fault they meddled way too much and made really bad calls like Batman Vs Superman should not have happened so soon, they just wanted to rush to where Marvel was at the time. I don’t think the universe had to go or at the very least Man Of Steel 2 should have happened and gone from there which I still think isn’t the wisest decision.

Okay so let's do this how are you going to fix the universe that has so many directors doing their own thing and send up their own continuity. Aquaman's movie Feels Like An Origin story, which according to Jason Momoa wasn't supposed to be it was supposed to take place after Snyder's Justice League, then you have shazam which Doesn't make any sense of where that movie takes place, then we have Wonder Woman's origin story like we need that, Black Adam comes around Witchduck doesn't make sense of where we're the other Heroes when the world was in danger, and all this praise at Black Adam is getting for being a different tone it's not the movie literally doesn't know what it wants to be black I don't want to be a villain by him killing people but then he wants to be a hero then becomes an anti-hero disrespects the JSA Hawkman is the number-one punching bag in that movie, Atom Smasher being a complete moron, so many films as opposed to set up future and non future all this negative things about Ezra Miller and Amber Hearn. And then all the stuff about the Snyder fans being toxic and non-toxic you have to stop it. That's why I approve of Dave's Gun decision to reboot the universe you need a clean slate. And free reign of a story that your created you couldn't soft reboot it because you will have tons of people saying that this is not what I wanted is a completely different feel like the first Justice League movie so there was already going to be things against you there. Don't buy him rebooting and getting new people in the role he has a Clear Vision of where he wants to go and where he wants to take these characters we're falling getting organization and a story that we can actually follow whatever having to worry about what's connecting and what's not connecting

Clark Kent being a human was done way better in Smallville, in 45 minutes you se a Clark that is immature, insecure, and through the show you see him hit very low points, but in everyone of them you see the good person Clark is, then you have Tyler Hoechlyn in Superman and Lois, you see him rageful, bitter, stressed, yet he always feels like Superman, Snyder Superman never felt like Superman, (the fact that you called Christopher Reeve Superman and comicbook Superman one dimensional tells me everything, ofc a guy who hates Superman would like MoS, since its a movie that keeps saying sorry for being about Superman), we dont see Clark be human, no Pete Ross, no Lana Lang, and his relationship with Lois is flat af, we only see him with a Jonathan Kent that thinks children "maybe" should have died, or the fact that Krypton seems more important than the Kents shows me that Snyder does not get DC, he does not get the characters and would not understand a comicbook even with a tutorial on it, he made Watchmen glorifying violence and pos characters like Rorschach, a Superman that is cold, distant and needs trauma to do good instead of doing it because he was raised that way, a Batpunisher that uses gatlings, a Flash that is a very bad mix of Wally and Barry, etc. He did not nail a single character right, in fact, he talks like Manchester Black, a Superman villain, if you want to compare him to the MCU, Steve always felt like the hero he is since the beginning, jumping to a grenade, and even saying he is nothing special, that is how Marvel made Cap relevant, and how MoS made Superman irrelevant and started a DCEU that was doomed since the beginning, you can't start a DC franchise disrespecting Superman

I think my dismissive nature to his character was because people were using traits of Reeves depiction and trying to Flanderise him and pushing to apply those Flanderised traits on other iterations of Superman as the “standard”. I do not regret my comments but I’ll say it was a bit harsh. I think Reeves version is dated but for sure iconic and has good qualities without a doubt but my claims definitely hold weight just worded stupidly aggressive for entertainment reasons ig I can’t recall during the scripting process.

@@CharlieKZbinr Yeah I get that, but on the topic of the choice to reboot the DCEU, my feelings on it are mixed. Because even though we’ve had good movies in the DCEU, there were so many detours taken out of what should have been a straight path of movies. I was initially excited about James Gunns new DCU. But then I looked at the slate and it’s going to have the same problem of having a good starting point, only to swerve into randomness with his plans for Creature Cammandos and a Wonder Woman prequel instead of just her own movie. I don’t fully believe the DCEU course correcting itself instead would have worked either though since it would have felt maybe to little to late after making so many movies that should have come later and in a different order. And what’s worse is that the new DCU is going to try and intergrate pieces of the DCEU only making more of a confusing mess. I feel like going to WB and quoting Rorschach “If you had cared from the beginning, none of this would be happening now.”

When's Zack Snyder was let go of DC we kept having to ask ourselves with which film is connected which film is this which film is that it was a mess and then they wanted to reboot what it all female Justice League and that was already missing fans up A reboot was the only answer that could basically justify getting rid of Henry Cavill and all the rest of the cast that wanted to leave anyway Ben Affleck didn't want to continue playing Batman because of the production behind Justice League Ray Fisher already quit and vowed that he will never come back to DC until they got rid of the CEOs. Jason Momoa was already looking for a way out so the only people that wanted to continue their stories where Ezra Miller Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill. And nobody even wants Ezra Miller back Gal Gadot with divisive amongst her fans so is Henry Cavill. So reboot was the next step and it makes sense you got to start fresh and I have a clean slate we're now everyone knows which is connected and which is not

Zack did not write man of steel or Batman vs Superman David s goyer and Chris Terrio did. Zack was only a director 4 both films. Henry Cavill was a dismal choice for Superman from the beginning, and portrayed a very bad and extremely misguided interpretation of the character in a very bad set of stories about the character. From the physicality to the acting, it was just poor casting (Superman is supposed to be tall and well-built, but _not_ hugely musclebound like a professional wrestler, and that dark and dingy _New 52_ style costume is just _fucking awful.)_ The fact that so many of today's _supposed_ fans of Superman have latched onto this angsty, morose, dingy-costumed portrayal of the character only reveals how badly the character has been mangled and twisted, and how the dismal changes have made it that so many of today's fans _fundamentally misunderstand_ the character. It was done so badly in "Superman v Batman" (such a lame damn title) that even though the conflict between the two was presented as if it was supposed to be over major differences in their superhero methods, with Batman using fear and "dark" methods while Superman supposedly used inspiration and "light" methods, but with the way they were portrayed in the movies there actually _was _*_no_*_ difference_ between their methods, with _both_ of them acting like dark, brooding, morose, anti-social lunatics who didn't seem to care in the slightest about how many people got hurt and killed during their fights. I mean _my God,_ when Clark asked Pa Kent if he should have just left a _bus full of kids to die_ rather than risking exposure of his abilities, Pa Kent didn't say "of course not!"... he said _MAYBE!_ _That is not Jonathan Kent!_ The way the Kents were portrayed in those movies would _not_ have instilled Clark with the moral foundation that made him Superman, it would have made him grow up to be a freaking apathetic self-pitying asshole. Which is actually how he acted in the movies! So I suppose that was something they actually did get right, _if_ their intention was to turn Superman into an angsty, morose, self-centered asshole who thought saving people's lives was a bother. The entire supposed central premise of their conflict _didn't actually exist_ because _Superman acted just as dark and brooding and dangerous as the Batman._ The movie acted as if it had been the bright and charming _Christopher Reeve Superman_ fighting against the dark and scary Batman, rather than _both_ being dark and scary (Christopher Reeve actually _knew how_ to play Superman, _and_ how to play him as Clark Kent so that it was actually believable that the disguise worked. But Cavill's portrayal of Clark Kent was so indistinguishable from Superman that the disguise came off as a nothing but a joke. He didn't even _attempt_ to make the disguise seem believable.) This portrayal of Superman is an emotionally stunted 12 year old's idea of "mature" and "deep," people who think that the primary purpose of a superhero is "to kill bad guys" rather than _to save people,_ and think the best thing about Superman is that he can shoot lazors from his eyes to reduce his enemies to cinders and punch people so hard they atomize into clouds of blood. But in reality, the coolest thing about Superman is that he _can_ do all those things, but he _chooses not to_ because he is a _fundamentally good person_ who always finds a better way to fight for good. This morose and completely non-inspirational portrayal of Superman is loved by people who also love _The Dark Knight Returns_ and _Watchmen_ but who love it because they _completely misunderstand the entire point of the stories,_ believing that Rorschach is supposed to be an awesome badass to admire, instead of seeing him as the dangerous Far Right fascistic lunatic to be afraid of as Alan Moore intended. In fact, Alan Moore is _appalled_ at how most _Watchmen_ fans completely misunderstand the story he was trying to tell, and end up interpreting the story as _the exact opposite_ of what he was trying to say. That famous quote from Rorschach, about how "all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll whisper 'no'?" That line is supposed to be _chilling and disturbing_ and show how utterly messed up and detached from reality Rorschach is; it is absolutely _not_ supposed to be something to admire and think is cool!

Some of the Man of Steel criticisms come from comic book purists as much as Marvel diehards who want to put a joke in every scene. I prefer Henry's grounded portrayal over the insufferable boy scout that I expected. However, people seem to want the Superman from the animated series and a Batman with maximum plot armor who doesn't kill. On top of audience expectations you have the cancer that is Ezra Miller, Zuckerberg Lex, #metoo princess Amber Heard and a movie with Dwayne Johnson that proves that The Rock no longer has drawing power. Oh and Jason Momoa looks nothing like the character he portrays. Makes as much sense as Tom Cruise playing Black Panther. DCEU has a lot of holes in their ship. I understand Gunn's need for a reboot when DC has so much baggage at this point. However, I think they'd be better off keeping Cavil and erasing the garbage with a multiverse event to clean the board.
