I measure a player by effectiveness NOT by beauty on the eye. When I've put KDB on the effectiveness category (or what I like to call "winningness"- i.e. the effect the player has on actually winning games disregarding everything else) there was a period when Messi/Ronaldo was waning a few years ago when I put KDB no.1. That's not even to say KDB doesn't play the game in a sexy way, just that you measure his influence and Man City finishing with record breaking points totals to beat Liverpool is BECAUSE of him. Xavi is another player I put in this category and for my money Xavi rivals Messi, and beats Zidane who was far more "beautiful".

I think his first season with city was so underrated. He was so pacey and skillful back then but unfortunately he got a big injury in 2019 and also pep's tactics forced him to become more efficient. I like the more mature kdb we have now because he is simply better but the old kdb played with hunger and passion. He was more aesthetically pleasing to watch.

He has been the best midfielder in the world since 2017. Shooting, play making, crossing, passing, he has it all. But the reason I like him is his elite mentality. Most young players would have fallen by the wayside if they were kicked out of Chelsea in similar fashion. But KDB instead went on to prove himself at a lesser club and work his way up.

I can't think of any other premier league player who can give accurate, defense splitting passes while running at full speed. Haaland gets all the plaudits for his goals and may even win the Ballon d'Or this year. But De Bruyne is the beating heart of the team. Without him, Man City aren't the same.

Even as a Man United fan i have to begrudgingly admit that my last 2 fav midfielders in the Prem have both been from Man City(David Silva and KDB). Especially KDB as he is such a complete midfielder. I feel strongly about the way he controls and builds the pace of City's every attack when he is on the pitch. Having the passing prowess is one thing but KDB, I feel, knows exactly when to use it. As an attacking midfielder, your job is to carry your team, often technically. KDB makes up for his lack of flashy abilities and agility with incredible sheer desire to create goals. He never stops attacking. While most players switch off and on throughout the game, he’s always adamant on assisting or crossing. Which is probably why he is so precise with his foot.
