During Infantry Training in the Marine Corps; I used a poncho to protect my expanded paper mummy sleeping bag. Stayed dry all night, and so did 6 others and a 1st Lieutenant that payed attention. The others of the Company were standing around camp fires trying to dry out during a rain drizzle.

Most older Americans don't know Celsius as they never taught it in school

USA is not the world. Only three country's use imperial units.United States, Liberia, and Myanmar The rest of us use metric. Celsius is simple. Zero water freezes 100 water boils.

Whoever wrote this doesn't understand Celsius. New York City's record low is -26° C. At -50° C, you'd need to do more than zip up your parka.

As someone who has been outside in -50 before wind chill it isn't to bad. As long as you keep moving and don't let your skin be exposed for too long and your fine

IF you have the right gear -50F/C is no big deal. A great pair of boots, and a head to ankle body suit rated for spicy icy, you're good to go 😉
