At my son's funeral the chapel was filled with his friends, most unchurched. This is the song I wanted the soloist to sing. Although he had a background in church music, he was unfamiliar with it. He learned it and performed it while playing the keyboard. At the last verse the power to his keyboard and mic was lost. Without skipping a beat he finished it. The acappela was powerful. Every time I hear this it takes me back and I wish I could spend just a little more time with my boy ...

This brothers rendition of this song broke me when i first got saved 10 years ago, and it still breaks me today. Praise our God most High for salvation has come to the earth and His name is Jesus. King of kings and Lord of lords. The Prince of peace, The Everlasting Father.

There was an elderly lady named Sue, of blessed memory, in my church who took me in when I was a homeless drug addict. She literally prayed me into sobriety and strengthened me in my Christian walk. This was her favorite song. This moved me. Thank you.

How deep the Father's love for us How vast beyond all measure That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure How great the pain of searing loss The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the Chosen One Bring many sons to glory Behold the man upon a cross My sin upon His shoulders Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom

I've got somethin' else to say man.. I believe what's refreshing about your rendition to me is that I can tell that you believe it. I don't think it's possible for a person to (choose) to sing this song if they didn't wholeheartedly believe the words. I am a recent Christian myself. I was just baptized 2 months ago! I say this to tell you not to take that for granted. There are so many countless millions of people who, unfortunately, have no understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The sad thing is most of them Believe that they do understand it. Like the gentleman below that commented negatively about Jesus, it is sad to say, but many modern day Christians have messed things up by putting too much distance in between themselves and the gospel. How terrible it must be to live the life of the commenter below that does not understand the gospel of Jesus and have a personal relationship with him. I lived that life for 35 years, and I could kiss the ground that I am now righteous through the eyes of God. Through the greatest exchange of all, my sin has been judged and atoned for. :)

Marshall, My heart rejoices greatly upon reading your post. It is so exciting not only to be rescued from a horribly unspeakable punishment, but to be granted the riches of God's grace for eternity! "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him."!! (1 Cor.2:9) May the Lord continue to bless you and may you never lose sight of the wonder of His salvation! I cannot express my profound gratitude to our Lord for granting His forgiveness, mercy and grace to one who openly blasphemed His Word, and mocked, ridiculed and insulted His people. I am currently writing my convrsion testimony to print on tracts to hand out. I pray that it brings God glory! --------------- After my hitch was up in the Navy, I got out and returned to West Virginia, moving even farther up into the mountains than my family’s old home-place. My girlfriend and I lived at the dead-end of a long road up into the mountains where the road was almost impassable, particularly in winter, when a 4WD was needed. I was thrilled with the idea of being able to party loud & long without any threat from the law, and I didn’t have to be around any “religious fanatics” (as I perceived them). One night, we had an especially wild party. Since I was an atheist, I believed that there was no “special purpose” for me in the Universe (much less for mankind), so I adopted my own brand of Epicureanism mixed with situational ethics (meaning that the whole end of life for me was to enjoy life’s physical pleasures, such as alcohol, drugs, women, food and whatever else gave me pleasure; and right & wrong was dependent upon whether or not a particular thing benefited me (which made it right), or was detrimental to me (which made it wrong). So lying in bed that night, I remember thinking, “If partying & having a good time is all the purpose there is to life, then I should feel pretty fulfilled after the wild & crazy party we just had.” But… I… didn’t. I felt very empty. I tried to imagine what else there was in life, what could give me a strong sense of fulfillment. I imagined sitting in a rocking chair at a ripe old age and explaining to someone that I was satisfied with my life and was ready to die peacefully because I (blank).” No matter how many things I tried to fill in the blank with, each one seemed empty, even absurd. I began to feel overwhelmed with the emptiness of my existence. I can’t say that I felt suicidal, but I thought since death was simply the end of my existence, I could just kill myself and it really wouldn’t matter. Yeah, my mom & brothers would be sad for a while, but they’d get over it. Again, I wasn’t feeling like I wanted to kill myself, I was just wondering why I should live, as in what purpose could I give to justify my existence. The next day, a young lady named Betsy showed up at my door to visit her sister, Sandy (my girlfriend at the time). Betsy was a Christian and, as she and Sandy sat at the dining room table talking about God, I sat in the living room hearing just about every word. If I could have, I would have blasted my stereo or TV to drown her out, but someone had broken both my TV and my stereo during the previous night’s party (strange coincidence, huh), and coupled with the quietness of our remote location in the mountains, I was a captive victim. And the only reason I didn’t kick her out of my house immediately was out of consideration for my girlfriend. So I sat there fuming, ready to explode with every word that came out of her mouth. I thought it couldn’t get any worse, but it did. Sandy was acknowledging that she understood and agreed with what Betsy was telling her from the Bible. She then agreed to allow Betsy to lead her in a prayer of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. I selfishly bemoaned the fact that her conversion likely meant that she would discontinue our physical relationship. I now felt like kicking them BOTH out of my house. It was only a moment later after they finished praying & talking, when Betsy walked into the living room to engage me. I was locked & loaded for bear. She fired the opening salvo by asking me, “Billy, would you like to know about Jesus?” I responded with a rapid-fire explosive cannon of the most high-powered obscenities collected from my years as a salt-roughened sailor. Loudly using offensive obscenities had proven an effective strategy in the past for motivating Christians and other religious people to run for cover. However, things didn’t go quite the way I expected. Betsy didn’t run. She didn’t even leave. She stood there… SMILING! To say that it unnerved me would be an accurate assessment. She courageously stood her ground smiling in the face of my seemingly relentless verbal barrage. However, I soon began running out of ammunition, sputtering to an awkward cease-fire. I summarized by saying something like, “That’s just the way I feel about it”. And then, as if her confident, fearless smile in the face of my violent verbal attack wasn’t shocking enough, she then responded to my obscene rant by assuring me that she wasn’t there to hurt me (!), but only wanted to let me know that God loved me and Jesus died for my sins. WHAT??! (I don’t think she got the memo that SHE was supposed to be fearful that I was going to hurt HER!) Sandy agreed to go to church with Betsy late that afternoon and, as I saw them to the door, Betsy handed me a Gospel tract entitled “God’s Simple Plan of Salvation” and I agreed to read it just so they would hurry out the door. After they’d gone, I tried to find other diversions to occupy my time, but as hard as I tried, I could not casually ignore the Gospel tract as it sat quietly on my stereo. Whenever my eyes turned near that side of the room, it seemed as if the tract was magnetically drawing my gaze, standing out like an elephant in the room. What’s funny is that I'd read many of them before... for comedic relief. I would read them, laugh, and then tear them up to make sure no one would "fall for this stuff". No matter what the tracts would say about spending eternity with God (and not in the other place), I had always misunderstood their message. I always thought the message was "Stop sinning and, when you die, if you have been good enough, God just might, maybe (if He's having a good day) may consider possibly letting you into Heaven (but not definitely)". But now I didn’t WANT to read it. I was having a mental argument with myself about it and since I told Betsy that I would read it, I thought (like diving into a cold swimming pool), I’ll do it quickly just to get it out of the way, so I could go on and enjoy my evening. As I read through the first few Bible passages quoted in the tract, it seemed like the proverbial light being switched on in the darkness, and I suddenly understood what I was reading. I CLEARLY understood what the Bible was teaching... what God was saying in the verses. It was NOT "be good and maybe get to Heaven"! It was God saying (in essence) “I created you, and even though you have broken my law, I love you so much that I came to Earth as a man and took your penalty for you. I forgive you and want you to be reconciled to me”. That’s it in a nutshell. It shocked me so much that all of a sudden, I realized I was talking to God as I heard the words coming out of my mouth toward Heaven, “YOU’RE KIDDING ME! THIS IS WHAT YOU’VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL ME ALL ALONG?? WOW! GOD, I BELIEVE.” I’m sure I repeated it several times. I was that astounded. And the most wonderful, indescribable feeling came over me, like a combination of love, peace, relief, excitement, freedom, joy… all at once. I ran outside and looked up toward Heaven. I’d always appreciated how beautiful the stars were from the mountains, far from the city, but that night, they were even more beautiful, if that was possible. I felt like I was alive for the very first time! Later that night, the girls came home. They came in the back door and were hanging out in the kitchen, talking about the Church service. I went in to tell them what had happened while they were gone, but when I walked into the kitchen and they stopped talking and looked at me, I realized I didn’t know what to say (yet I felt like I was bubbling over!). All I could think to say was “I did it”. “You did what?” one of them replied. “You know… that thing in the paper you gave me.” I don’t recall the rest of my words, but the girls did not believe me. They accused me of trying to ridicule them. I had an incredibly fun time of convincing them that I was sincere, I really had become a believer in Christ, just a short time after violently cussing Betsy out. A few weeks later, one of my old partners in crime came all the way out to see me because he had heard that I had overdosed on drugs and had become some kind of religious fanatic. That was hysterical as that was the same claim that my Navy buddy had told me about Mark B. (who berthed below me on board ship). He could tell right away that something was very different about me. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “… if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are made new.”

I have found the words and flip back and forth from the written words to your video. This is so incredible - I have not cried like this my whole life. I am going to print this out , memorize it and sing it with you and own my own. I can almost sing with it now. I just read the prior persons comments. Yes, you should come to America - you are so great. You would be in great demand in any church. Here at Northside Baptist Church - Charlotte, North Carolina - I welcome you anytime for a visit. This is such a great song....My father passed away a couple of months ago...and as he passed through the veil he lifted his hands in worship to his Father...this was only made possible through the gift that God gave and the obedience of His Son (Jesus)---looking forward to the day when we will meet again....Thank-You God....
