I guess you mean Beat Maker aka Songwriter or Composer. Oak is both a Songwriter and a Record Producer. Producers have nothing to do with making beats as that's a management directing role in the studio. I do both roles my self just like Oak. When Oak is making beats hes wearing the Composer's hat, when hes not making beats, hes working with his artist in the studio one on one wearing the Producer's hat. Some times hes wearing both hats at the same time like he did with this song. Most Hip Hop Producers started out as Beat makers before taking over the acting role as a Producer as they are generally credited twice for both roles. Scott Storch is also a Songwriter/Producer. Here's what he has to say. *"In terms of working with the artist or vocalist, you know its important to come back and stay through with that, if you're going to call yourself a producer on a track. You know, you don't want to be just a track maker. To be a Producer, you wanna follow through and you know, push the artist and get the best record possible because its only going to help you. A Real Producer sees the whole thing through and has input through the whole vision of the record, from you know, what the melody is going to be on top, you know you, at least collaborate with some body on that, have an input on that, you know, sit there behind the board, trying to get a good vocals out of somebody, you know, or at least monitor the situations.- Scott Storch"* [Source: New Interview With Scott Storch 2015 Beat Camp]

@Kiazer-Man Dude, its pretty self explanatory. You just don't understand what a Producer is and what they actually do. I do both roles myself as a Record Producer and Beat maker just like Oak. The Traditional role of a Record Producer has NOTHING to do with making beats. They "Direct and Oversee" the vision of an entire record. P-Diddy is a Producer and he doesn't make beats. Chris Lord-Alge is a Producer and he doesn't make beats. Beyonce Knowles, Missy Elliott and Mary J. Blige are acting role Vocal Producers and Executive Producers and they don't make beats either. Beat makers are "Songwriters" which is an entirely different role. Record Producers generally hire people to work for them. They generally hire songwriting and production teams, session musicians, string conductor and Engineers to work for them. If a Record Producer is heavily involved in the "Songwriting" process such as providing the beat or writing the lyrics then they are an acting dual role Record Producer and Songwriter. About 90% of all well known Hip Hop & R&B Producers are Songwriter's & Record Producer's esp Scott Storch, Rodney Jerkins, Bryan-Michael Cox, Pharrell Williams etc. Hip Hop Producers are generally more involved in the songwriting process of a the record such as providing the beat compared to a Rock Producer that would only direct & oversee the record that is only credited as "Producer" and nothing else. Hip Hop Producers are often credited as both "Producer" and "Writer" in production credits. If all you do is make beats and that's it, you are nothing more than just a Beat Maker aka a Writer or Composer.

As someone who has grown up in a musical family, but always had a strong interest in producing, I appreciate these videos so freaking much. Plus I love hearing the producers just talk more. Growing up I only ever heard the singers talk about the songs, but you knew full well the majority didn't have a part in the production/making of the song. Producers used to be like little hidden wizards to me when I was younger, haha, but seriously mad respect and thanks a lot for these videos!

SAILOR MANe. All you mean is it’s a Pop song with modern Hip Hop influences Saying it’s a London on the Track/DJ Mustard rip off is an extremely inaccurate stretch. Especially since DJ Mustard’s signatures are 3 things really: finger-snaps, offbeat ‘what’ vocal shouts throughout & fat saw wave synth bass. This song only has the finger-snap which is the least important of his 3 giveaway’s anyway. Something like Kanye & Lil Pump’s new song may be a Mustard rip off or Iggy Azalea - Fancy, but this is just you hating on a song because it lends similarity to a sound that’s very popular right now. Not a rip-off & still a great song produced very well.

WOW. Best video I've seen in forever! 😵😍🙌 First off, as soon as I heard this song I was instantly captured, it's just ridiculously good and I also love the gospel and RnB vibe. Always loved Demi's voice as well. Second of all, I knew I had to find who wrote the song just to know who this person was. That's when I found Oak Felder and I was instantly captured by his personality and locked in to his powerful, soft charisma and the presence he just brings... that of a person who knows God and seems to have suffered a great deal. The kind of person you just wanna sit and wait for them to open their mouth and tell you something, give you a insight into their thoughts and experiences, knowledge and also wisdom. On top of this, I'm very interested in music production and have been reading and watching so much of the creative process behind the making of pop songs - which I just love. That's why I listened to every word of his instructions like it was pure gold. I'm also so impressed and in awe by the fact that he wants to progress art as a whole and doesn't care about keeping those things secret to help some people stay on top and others to not progress, that's wonderful in a way that I love soo much! I studied recording engineering and when it came to mixing, (basically smack dab in the middle of my schooling) “just turning knobs” was actually a technical technique. Sometimes you don’t always know what sound you want. Much of the production process is just turning knobs until more precision is needed. Gotta learn sometime xD
