You may have dropped the analysis of the century with this one. I give it a few weeks before this video blows up. Truly fantastic work tying George Lucas’ analysis of historical and current events to his universe. It’s incredible that, based on modern election outcomes worldwide, even after seeing the bad guys spelled out so clearly, so many Star Wars fans would side with The Empire

Those are some very thoughtful comments of yours. I appreciate you. Exactly. While I undertand that many people are shocked at the results, the signs were clearly pointing to a Harris loss. I can't find the paper, but a group of 4 political scientists predicted the electoral map outright. So did many historians. And so did an anthropologist . . . . about 40 years ago. If we are okaying genocides as a society, that says 'welcome evil'. You welcome hate. You welcome destruction. If you want it blunt, we are embracing it. In our case, Israeli, Palestinian and other Muslim civilians will suffer the most and pay for our inactions. This is precisely why the genocide is bad, it fuels anti-semitism and Islamaphobia and says "I'll have your democracy to go, thank you." Nobody wins. Unfortunately, Americans just got their reality check on Nov. 5, 2024. Brave students, professors, doctors, journalists, military veterans, prime ministers from other countries (mostly women), artists, humanitarian organizations, educators were telling us to stop. OUR OWN ELECTED OFFICIALS here, again mostly women, spoke out against the genocide in Congress but we turned a blind eye.

@ Thanks for the thoughtful response, I really have to reiterate how excellent and detailed this video is, truly fantastic work you’ve produced here. Compare it to the big breakdown channels or even other historical comparisons and they don’t even hold a candle to this. The timing also couldn’t have been better with the election results. Gained a subscriber out of me, excited for your other projects! But in response to everything you mentioned, I have so many thoughts, but I will summarize them. Capitalism is a monster that must eat and grow forever to survive. We have allowed a financial system to become our identity, corporations to become people, human rights to become bargain-able commodities. We have been turning a blind eye to our global impact for so long, it’s only a matter of time before the modern Palpatine arises 😬 But like the Empire, it certainly seems like some unknown Darth Sidious behind the shadows is puppeteering the outcomes we live with around the world, it certainly seems like we’re culminating towards something as a global species. But to what? The Empire, or whatever comes after Episode IX 🤔

Your analysis is highly flawed. The ruling, which I added below, says immunity is only granted to actions that fall under under official duties and responsibilities . There is no immunity for unofficial acts, and actions that are unconstitutional, such as democrats packing the courts, removing gun rights, creating departments of misinformation banning speech, ignoring Supreme Court decisions, changing laws to prosecute political opponents, and removing the filibuster. The lack of understanding you have of the real threat to the Republic is alarming. The democrats have decided they are the party of war mongers so much that they have gladly taken endorsements from all the warmongers they used to admonish like Dick Cheney. They are guilty of almost everything the Empire did in Star Wars. They control the media, want to remove your basic constitutional rights, change laws to go after those who disagree with them, and want to make the courts a political weapon through unconstitutional means. Wake up people. Trump isn't the threat, the establishment is. SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES Syllabus TRUMP v. UNITED STATES CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA CIRCUIT No. 23-939. Argued April 25, 2024-Decided July 1, 2024 A federal grand jury indicted former President Donald J. Trump on four counts for conduct that occurred during his Presidency following the November 2020 election. The indictment alleged that after losing that election, Trump conspired to overturn it by spreading knowingly false claims of election fraud to obstruct the collecting, counting, and certifying of the election results. Trump moved to dismiss the indictment based on Presidential immunity, arguing that a President has absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions performed within the outer perimeter of his official responsibilities, and that the indictment’s allegations fell within the core of his official duties. The District Court denied Trump’s motion to dismiss, holding that former Presidents do not possess federal criminal immunity for any acts. The D. C. Circuit affirmed. 1 Both the District Court and the D. C. Circuit declined to decide whether the indicted conduct involved official acts. Held: Under our constitutional structure of separated powers, the nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts. Pp. 5-43. (a) This case is the first criminal prosecution in our Nation’s history of a former President for actions taken during his Presidency. Determining whether and under what circumstances such a prosecution may proceed requires careful assessment of the scope of Presidential power under the Constitution. The nature of that power requires that a former President have some immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts during his tenure in office.

@JoshuaKevinPerry OP is talking about the ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas, what does a leaving president have to do with those talks when the US isn't directly involved in them? Netanyahu could proceed with a ceasefire if he wanted to, but it's obvious that the Israelis don't care given how they openly assassinate the people trying to negotiate it. The continuation of the war hurt Harris since most democrats recognize it for the genocidal ethnic cleansing that it is and are angry with most democratic leadership for continuing to support Israel. Ironically, this helped the GOP secure one-party rule in Washington for at least the next two years even though they've been zealously cheerleading the genocide from day one.

The greatest tragedy to me is all of our history being so available to us, all of our media like Star Wars showing us these parallels, and yet ignored by so many. I truly didn’t believe history would rhyme. That we would continue to repeat the same mistakes of the past. But it is inevitable. There’s too many people that these messages simply can’t reach. People that grew up with it. It’s gen x and boomers, who lived through this and somehow their only response is to double down on the hatred of others. I’m dumbfounded. There’s legitimately nothing left to do but to watch it all come down.

I love that you are engaging in constructive feedback/discourse. (: Absolutely! It is a big pillar when defining genocide. I think we also have to then open up the question, what constitutes self-defense and what doesn't?! Ultimately, it is disappointing that civilians end up paying the cost for our inability to be humane. Love the comment. (:

Yeah, some statements made by members of the Israeli government show genocidal intent on their part. Also, maybe being an apartheid state and crappy neighbor might have led to the attack on Oct 7. Israel isn’t clean in this war they’re prosecuting, which is more and more looking very much like, well, a genocide.

An invading force doesn't get to claim self-defense.
@craig.a.glesner9 күн бұрын
@ ah, so you acknowledge that Israel had it coming with their unlawful land seizures. Good, good, most people kinda gloss over or outright ignore Israel’s theft of land and use of their overwhelming power over the Palestinian people. :) Yeah, don’t try to pretend that Israel hasn’t been using their power disparity over the Palestinians. I remember how long it has been going on, like my whole almost six decades. I remember the Infatada of the 1970s. This isn’t Israel’s first rodeo. You can’t oppress a people for literal generations and then claim “self defense” when you suffer the consequences. Don’t want to be struck, don’t poke people in the eye with sharp sticks.

I love this video! That said, I do wish it had been a little less superficial. There are definite parallels, and you touch on many of these, however I feel the institutions themselves could not be eroded by the efforts of a few. Rather, the trust in institutions are and can be eroded by the efforts of an intentioned few if they have in their cooperation the assistance of others. Who would those others be? Ineffectual leaders, scandals, corruption in varying levels of government, poor communication, and so on. Americans might have voted poorly in this election, but it's not only the voters who chose. Americans have been failed on more than one occasion by the system supposed to help them. Harris' effort was an attempt by the system to correct itself, but it had already become too weak to do so, and as you point out in your comment, others had already predicted her defeat. The opposition to Trump failed to mount a sufficient resistance, and could not unite because of divided interests, self-serving leaders, and more. As I commented elsewhere on the subject, if this is the best the system could do, did it even deserve to be saved? A bitter thought. There's plenty of blame to go around, and I'd have loved to see a more detailed exploration of this. A second video, maybe?

The amount of videos I have seen being dropped of "how democracy dies" involving star wars, days before the election... All pure coincidence. No implications whatsoever because the "wrong side" won. Man, I hate this shit.
@trevordillon1921Күн бұрын
They’re not hiding the implications. They’re trying to point them out. Because for a not insignificant amount of time, one side has been, at best, passive towards, and at worst, supportive of rhetoric and actions that run counter to the democratic principles of our nation. This isn’t about general disagreement on matters of policy. It’s about one very specific subset of a policies, and the potential risk they pose to the status of our nation as a democracy. Yes. The wrong side won. Because only one side praises other leaders who have overturned their own nation’s electoral systems, only one side has expressed a willingness to ossify the power of the government in a single party, only one side has explicitly stated its plans to gut out the government to rid itself of dissenters, only one side has actively engaged in the politically motivated withholding of necessary funds for maintaining the social welfare as a means of opposition to the social policy of states. One side sucks, really bad, and has spent decades upholding an unfair economic structure. The other is ready and willing to dismantle our democratic institutions. One of those things sucks. The other is intolerable. And we won’t. And we won’t be shy about it, or beat around the bush. The “wrong side” wasn’t wrong because it was racist, or economically advantages the wealthiest among us, or supports heinous policies, though it does do all of those things. It was wrong because it’s our own modern expression of fascism. It meets all of the hallmarks of the fascists of the late 20’s. I won’t tell you how this ends because in truth, nobody knows. Mussolini was laughed out of office. Hitler died as his nation crumbled around him, leaving millions dead in his wake. Both gutted the democratic systems of their nation in under 2 years from the date of their elections. Regardless of wether or not the coming administration will do the same or not, many of us have concluded that the threat is real enough, and under those circumstances, it would be foolish to ignore. If you didn’t want to hate it next time don’t vote for wannabe dictators because they lied to you about cheap gas and groceries. I WILL make you that promise. You will NOT be any better off in four years, no matter what they do in office. You bought a lie.
